He did. My guess? Chainblades are now contenkar only, chainglaives are now the generic (which is fine, since they used to have silly levels of overlap)

No idea what they do except they have breaching and shred, so expect 6+ of each and be surprised if its better. Still, That isnt too bad, gives them very nasty "crits" for D2 AP2 at initiative.

I think the main thing confusing me is that the rules that seem interesting and cool could have easily been added on top of the existing rules or substituted them. Completely changing army building like this and absolutely gutting the wargear options feels just so unnecessary to the point I have to wonder why they’d actually even do it beyond just to save them adding extra pages to the books so they can save money on printing costs.

You cant charge a regular gun, if youre wondering why "overload" is a plasma only rule. Its the user cranking up the plasma reactor in a way you just cant do with other weapons.

Heavy(whatever) represents the added potential of a weapon if you steady it. A heavy bolter is capable of firing better when you can place it down and not have to fight the recoil as you move, a lascannon can charge to its full power instead of going off half-cocked.

+1 to wound (and especially pen armor) was a very nice rule. Made laser destroyers insane tank hunters.
But it was worthless in melee, where between the strength bonuses and shred you never cared about the +1. All the guns you wanted to fire at valuable targets (lascannons, volkite) also wounded on 2s anyways, it was only really for negating the IH bonus.
It was powerful, but you are overselling its benefit. Now it is "win combat vs anyone with a status effect", because thats what a WS difference does essentially. It is much more limited (melee only) and possibly harder to proc, but its actual impact when it IS active is going to be far larger.

Absolute power asides I will say this: the previous version of the rule was very good and very interesting, but it also encouraged a legion fantasy/playstyle that might not have been very appropriate for NL. The best way to play the legion in 2.0 was basically as a gunline using terror assault to limit opponent response and pick them apart with high power weapons to compensate for our low melee power and ability. It fit to an extent, its cowardly and sneaky and underhanded, but it also lacked the fact that the NL are "killers", theyre a melee legion all about the bloodshed. Something the new rules do much better (while perhaps being too limiting)
