how do you respond without sounding mad?
Been doing pretty well with this on the ladder. Delney is one of those cards that may finally see some play post rotation. It's pretty brutal with Blood Artist style effects.

I'm trying to make a budget friendly Foundations cat deck, and I think I'm happy with the cards I chose. Any suggestions on how many copies of each card to run?
>>96134103 (OP)EoE is over.
Are you ready for a trip to New York anons?
>>96134362People make constructed limited decks?
>>96134226I've also been abusing delney + voice in a boros mobilize shell, it gets out of hand pretty quickly
>>96134470not everyone is a turbo obese sweaty
>>96134362You have to understand that being "budget" is just another way of saying that you're a loser.
The retards who encourage playing budget decks are losers who just want your clicks and views. Yeah, I understand the game is expensive but either you pay or be a loser. The only way to actually get better is to play the best decks - check mtgtop8.com. Most people playing this game are crack addicted losers, but the people who are only crack addicted know that budget is a word spoken only by losers.
>>96134362run 4x of everything that costs less than 3 mana

finish your curve with like 4~6 removal spells and some top end
If your format has the concept of a "budget deck" your format is comically expensive and you are just gaslighting naive retards into joining so you can farm them with your strictly superior and more money intensive decks, a 100 "budget" deck is almost always slang for "Spend 100 bucks on a dogshit deck that cannot be upgraded into a real deck" or, in the best case scenario "Spend 100 bucks into a worse version of a good deck so you can get your skull caved in except when you get lucky".
Along with that most of the premodern decks are 250$+ put into worthless cards, and "Muh proxies" isn't a really good argument because most people don't like them, it looks bad, and also most stores will still demand shit like gold bordered cards (even more worthless) as "proxies" or you'll say "just use chinaman proxies" without noting all the disadvantages that has, like getting store banned.
I'd even note that a lot of the actually good decks have shit like x4 Cradle, wastelands and a shitton of your tournaments also demand print specific because once more, it isn't a sanctioned format with hard set rules and said printings are all on the inherent reserved list.
Oh and btw, the average pauper deck is now in the 50 to 80$ range buying at the comically overpriced big name shops like TCGPlayer and Starcity of david with any expensive card being a perenial multi format staple (lotus petal, hydro/pyro variants) most of the time and the only real barrier of entry is skill, because in mtgo you can very easily pay your renting and then buy your deck and keep printing $
Sorry, not sorry if you are going to shill your format, which other than not being very competitive and having one big issue for long term high intensity play (closed format, which is also the inverse for long term low intensity play) isn't super bad, at least be fucking honest Mr. I am so super vvhite and aryan but I'll behave like my own racist caricature of a scheming brown jew
>>96134583it's 2025 and $30 mono red burn can still win FNM
budget brews do work, but you need to play good formats like modern

>>96134446Unless we're getting spider support, probably not.
>>96134646>If your format has the concept of a "budget deck" your format is comically expensivewhat format are you playing? lol
>>96134446Nope. I am playing on Arena.
>>96134646>comically expensiveThe reality is that most viable premodern decks cost no more than viable standard deck with most t1+2 decks costing under $400. Except you only have to buy your deck once. A deck like Psychatog ($200 if you're not a chump who puts intuition into it while still losing the tournament) has just as good of a chance winning, especially with duress, in a game against stiflenought. Stiflenought is also notoriously weak to discard as found in the pitrack deck which can be gotten $200 if you're not too fussy about card conditions or the printing. Another $200, mono-red burn, can utterly wipe the floor with stiflenought as it is often the case that nought will not draw its combo soon enough or will not have enough protection to get past the sideboard.
>worthless cardsWorth is in the eye of the beholder.
>x4 Cradle, Really expensive of course. But outside of elves or specific green decks, this really isn't ran very often. Mox Diamond is ran more often and it has it's own downsides. In some cases, a deck may be better off without them. Getting a deck that may be better in quite a few situations without
>wastelands>gold bordered cardsIs kinda an example where it makes a card like wasteland more affordable. Heavily played original wasteland is about $17-$20 per cards. Whereas some of the gold-bordered options can be gotten for $6-7 dollars. Another option is the white bordered mystery cards which are legal in all formats, are $9-10 near mint. An alternative like dust bowl which is superior in certain decks can be gotten for $0.10 to $0.15 if you get the thunder junction breaking news one where as the original is $8 damaged. Again, premodern rules allow for ALL LEGAL PRINTINGS including such reprints.
>a shitton of your tournaments also demand print specificThey don't. This is false. Also pic related.

What's a good rule of thumb for how many copies of interaction/removal spells to include in a 60 card deck that is primarily focusing on tribal or synergy and tempo? Like I'm decent enough at picking out cards that synergize and combo together, but I find myself only packing like 4 removal spells which isn't enough.

At the beginning of combat on your turn, you lose 1 life and create a 1/1 red mouse creature token with "Whenever this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability you control for the first time each turn, put a +1/+1 counter on it" and "When this creature dies, it deals damage equal to its power to each opponent". >>96135432You know, this design is cool
I'm seeing an engine, but I"m NOT seeing its own fuel. Maybe you should add some way to target things, that way people who don't have cards in hand (Bad feelings!) can still trigger the Mouse token's counters?
>>96135441I miss what MTG design used to be.
anyone have recent purchases of paper cards they wanna show?
I had this discussion today so I hope you can settle it /mtg/ is this card an aggro, midrange, combo or control card?
>>96135458Midrange.
Midrange is not an archetype, it is power creep under a different name.
If a card fills more than one role at a time, it is Midrange slop and not a real Magic card.
>>96135432Some people just want to see the whole world burn uh?
>>96135458It's a card that should've been banned a long time ago.
We have precedent with the Tarmogoyf tokens, so you don't need to say what the mouse token does.
Anyways, great design bros. WotC wishes they had our talent.
>>96135458Midrange, that shit enters in the same disgusting category of โFable of the Buttbreakerโ a card that for an absolutely laughable price gives you an insane value, a corpse and some sort of recursion.
This kind of cards are also known as โmistakesโ but itโs primary a Midrange card.

I hope they make an WWI inspired plane eventually.
>>96135530>World Wars inspired plane but there are no warring parties, only victims of war somehow, because it would be politically incorrect to do otherwise.
>cutter and mice gets banned
>UR aggro and RDW playrates go down
>combo entirely gone since netdeckers can't make their own decks and losing that four mana cost reanimate kills the deck
>UB midrange goes back up
>few weeks later vivi-cauldron playrate is up to 25% and rising
>UB midrange going down again
>control still barely played
My predictions: rotation will change very little. Most of EoE is way to slow. Pain-lands will be replaced by Starting Town (more splash enabled because of this too). Shock-lands will replace fast-lands. And vivi-cauldron will get some more bans for reaching 40%. It only loses one sideboard card and only has to swap lands for the rotation.
>>96135530It would probably just be trench crusade in mtg.
>>96135542I really hope that motherfucker Vivi gets banned, what a disgusting card
>need some quick arena win dailies

works almost every time. does this happen in irl games?
>>96135592>does this happen in irl games?Seize being in a format basically deletes all combo decks from that format.
>>96135592I donโt really care about Thoughtseize because I play control or Midrange but considering how many Lotus/Quintorious/Ramp and Tibalts combo decks there are in Pioneer then is not a surprise you can literally shut down a deck with a good Thoughtseize
>>96135592the dailies are more about spells cast though
>>96135632>win dailiesbasically just the first 4 or so wins of the day that give decent gold, i let the actual daily quests pile up for a few days so i can knock them all out at once.
>>96135660It would be best to just do the daily "play X" quest as efficiently as possible. If it's based on color, especially if you get lucky and get blue, you can do it in only a few short games.

I really wish they would just split modern into two. Leave the new stuff for Pioneer and then have a format that is just everything from before RTR and after Mirrodin. Just make a classic Modern: Mirrodin to Innistrad with none of the horizons junk allowed much like what was done with premodern.
Yeah it'll be solved fairly quickly just like Premodern. But lets be honest all the formats are pretty much solved anyways. MTG is won by either shutting down your opponent's deck completely or killing your opponent before they can do anything. New sets are mostly just adding a few powercrept versions of the same cards that were being played before if you're lucky.
New sets are just a few powercrept versions of the old stuff with mostly just terrible janky gimmick mechanics designed for casual commander. Aggro decks are just more powercrept faster versions of what was already there. New combo decks are just the same combos by another name. New control decks are mostly just old cards because the control cards were better a long time ago with few exceptions where you just pick up a powercrept version of an older card.

>>96144233It's good that you enjoyed it. But for me it's emblematic of more shit to keep track of outside of the board like dungeons or the initiative that also comes with a seperate dungeon. It's like if Planechase was Standard legal.
>>96144428I agree. However, I realized at some point that magic will never go back to what it used to be, and I should just learn to adapt to the new instead of being bitter about the old.
It has also meant I play less than what I used to, but I've come to peace with that.
>>96144092Okay but why did it have to be oversized? I don't think Standard players would be happy with having to get a separate deckbox and special sleeves to keep them in.

>>96144233it was a great Limited mechanic.
not as complex as dungeons or as busted as initiative/monarch.
they tried to revisit it with speed with pretty weak results. still, LotR was such a great draft set that I'm looking forward to their next attempt.
>>96144521I found it really interesting with Karakas, which sadly is only legal in one format.
You haven't lived until you've bounced your own palace jailer with karakas.
>>96144528>bounced your own palace jailer with karakasI didn't know he was Legendary.
>>96144540My whole point is that is what tempted by the ring does. I don't know how making a creature legendary could have much a gameplay effect otherwise, since you can't make multiple creatures the ring bearer anyways.
>>96144545That sounds like some nice Vintage Cube gameplay.
That's the of place these types of mini game mechanics shine, despite Constructed players' (mostly justified) dislike for them.
>>96144548I honestly can't think of a card with the ring tempts you that would be strong enough for Vintage Cube.
>>96144552samwise the stouthearted is a very playable mono-white card for cube.
It's better for legacy cube, but it's on the fringe even for vintage cube (it's better than a few of the mono-w options in the cube right now).
>>96144555I had to look him up, but yeah he seems very fringe.
>>96141180literally yes, now after lotr it IS necessary
>>96140726I find eldrazi (and stompy decks) kinda bad in pauper because there's a lot of good removal to take them out. So you've spent a lot of time and resources getting one big dude out that just gets killed by a 2 mana spell or something like that.
I really want to make it work and have a tron deck that mimics the modern style tron, but I find that it's just not good enough.

>>96144819hopefully the playerbase isn't wise to it and they pass the pieces around 6th pick
>>96144868Since it's so easy to assemble, and has SO Much redundancy across the rare slot, I would expect this to become a a Bloomburrow situation, where the top archetype is so good that everyone chases it and the entire format is ruined by it.
More Dinofact testing.
This shit is hilarious and extremely threatening. Chainsaw works very well with all our artifact synergy.
>>96144940what's your affinity decklist looking like?
>>96144942It's still extremely terrible, many pieces still need testing and it almost certainly needs more interaction. But as far as initial test brews go, the midgame of dino and treasure slinging, Cryptic Coat spam and Chainsaws for 12/2 unblockable face-smashing action feels like more than a potent enough backbone.
>>96144948Is this pioneer? I'm surprised neither spyglass siren nor epicure are in the list
I've played a lot of ensoul in pioneer, and there's some overlap there.
>>96144962>Is this pioneer? I'm surprised neither spyglass siren nor epicure are in the listYou need to CAST the artifacts to get the important triggers, so they didn't make the cut. >>96144948idk what upside that has over UW Simulacrum

>>96145123>playing Nykthos ramp>in the year of our lord 2015 + Nkek, what an old fogey
The decks are way faster and more oppressive in the format, than that nowadays.
>>96144987lol look how easily these tourists get triggered
>>96145123mono-green is a deck that exists, it's definitely one of the most straightforward "put your cards on the table" deck.
It's pretty weak to just spot removal on the elf though, and the ones with leyline are much less consistent.
>>96140096>>96139676Yeah I played during the countertop era. I just find the deck really cool (I never actually played it, I loved brewing decks that beat it and got me easy trophies and tops 8s on MTGO). It would be stupid to unban it yeah, but fuck the format is stupid rn.
>>96140164The very existence of bowmasters prevents DnT, Elves, and some other weenie aggros decks from existing competitively at all. That enough reason to ban it, but it's stronger than that. The best answer to bowmasters is another bowmasters, it creates another body so cleanly removing it is very rare, at instant speed.
Spirit of the Labyrinth was the necessary evil. OBM funnily enough just kills that.
>>96144985Lost Caverns of Ixalan in general doesnโt seem to see much play for some reason. The only cards Iโve seen in meta decks are Inti, Tidebinder and creatures that make map tokens. Maybe EoEโs heavy focus on artifacts will change that.

>>96145179Aren't the bats played?
>>96144928I think you're overestimating how easy it to assemble the combo consistently with limited tier card draw options. 4 specific cards (and hoping the sacrifice enabler doesn't get removed) is pretty optimistic. At best you'll get someone with it like once in every like 5+ games
>>96145206nah it's pretty believable, it's exactly how I would expect wotc to manage a format made for people who didn't want to bother with standard and modern rotations

Total inconsistency.
>>96145176It used to stay on the banlist for being more annoying than anything else but Top now is unbannable for powerlevel reasons completely unrelated to counterbalance and Control.
Have you seen how it interacts with Glaring Fleshraker?
This is what it's probably going to look like. Since this option is open, Umbral Collar Zealot will probably be a top first pick in the format. It's just a good body as a baseline so you sacrifice nothing by picking it up early.
You're probably digging for it if you crack a Vondam or Haliya too. If you get the first few key pieces, you're going to grab the rest as they appear.
Zealots will be a highly contested, possibly the most contested, card in the format.
Mono-white Assassin.
Assassin that doesn't kill things. He just kind of grapples them a little.
Timeline Culler also fits into the combo as extra not-quite-combo redundancy.

>>96145447They do random flavor things like this all the time. It is functionally the same as "other creature" in preventing infinite, but it gives random interaction in mirror match or when opponents play specific decks. The flavor doesn't always work, but if it doesn't it's just part of the silly card game business. Nothing nearly as silly as Mutate for instance.
>>96145447Same thing just with a second copy.

This card is a lot better than people are considering.
It allows you to translate direct damage to creatures into damage to face. This is a psychotic combo with things like Sheoldred and can IMMEDIATELY murder people with the right setup
It doubling as an abstract kind of Phyrexian Arena means it's not as dead as it would be otherwise, too. I think it has a lot of potential for horribly vile play patterns, though I'm not sure if those patterns will pan out into something top tier.

You cannot convince me 1v1 isn't the worst way to play this game. Despite what Magic's original game design was, playing 3+ players heavily mitigates the effects of tryhards from playing gimmicky, faggoty ass control and burn decks. There is honestly nothing more pathetic than someone vomiting their hand with burn cards to every creature played and ends up top decking with no actual win con beyond being an annoying faggot.
