>>96145726 (OP)>actually made on page 8 for once>not another fucking arbites pic>in fact some actual models in an actual game>not great but not shit TQ eitherThought I'd never see the fucking day.
Working on a new guard regiment. Do the berets work or would the original age of sigmar helmets be better?
Thread question: probably an arbites conversion i made a while back
Surely you prefer your Thousand Sons to be painted in some color other than boring old blue. You're not a conformist, are you?
>>96145747>shoots you with a couple mid tier antitank weapons vaporizing your ass instantly
so you wouldnt be able to use the new Darnath Lysander model in the Black Templar army would you
>>96145765I like the candy red metallic scheme some people do for heresy
Stop 3d printing models, you are going to lead to the death of this company
Why do some dice sets roll worse? I've noticed GW dice with skulls fucking suck for everyone that uses them. Like I come into a game and I see those dice I have an actual unfair advantage
Why are Templars losing Sternguard Vets? Hopefully they're just getting a chapter-specific datasheet.
>>96145775No
>>96145796its about corners and edges, try casino dice
>in the middle of falling asleep
>start feeling scared for no reason
>vaguely imagine shadow monsters
>remember that my marine army is in the display cabinet and will surely protect me from any danger
>fall asleep without any further issues
>>96145795Good. I shall 3d print even harder now.
>>96145801they aren't in the article it explains the codex will have its own entry for them,
>"As in previous Codex Supplements, several datasheets โ such as the Gladiator tanks and Sternguard Veterans โ have their own Black Templars version with different rules and weapon options, so the originals canโt be taken in these armies. Templars respect the Rule of Three!"
>>96145747>Radiated Cockpit kills the Pilot instantly>It's now a hollow Chassis usable for the much less dangerous Infernal Dreadnought
>>96145726 (OP)I wish GW would get the license back for Judge Dredd. Theyโre literally the only company making naming decent quality models now.
So if GW reinvents the Drukhari again as the big 11th rival faction and rewrites their lore on the level of the Necrons, how would they fix them to make them into something more popular and marketable?
My money would be on just straight up turning them into space Vampire Counts

new vulkan he'stan model looks kind of dumb
would've preferred we got a brand new tu'shan model instead
part of the fun of being a salamanders player is being forced to kitbash your own he'stan model
>but what if I don't want to kitbash my own named characters?
play ultramarines then
>>96145814So Black Templars are getting the chaos marine treatment where their supplement is entirely separate from the main codex and are arbitrarily allowed to run certain units just because. I hope you enjoy being 1/4 of a faction like the rest of us

>>96145852>painting showcase>models not basedhmm
>>96145865Theyโre great when theyโre one piece models, once you have to glue stuff together it gets messy with their resin losing a little quality after moulding. They are also in the process of shedding the 2000ad licences.

The only way i see GW doing it is if another movie comes out. Didnt taika waiti say he was doing one a few weeks ago(god help us)
>>96145758love the berets
>>96145904I think we forget there was a time CSM was moving away from the Black Legion for some reason. Like for the longest time a lot of CSM units had their official paint jobs as stuff like red corsairs. Was kind of odd thinking back, like imagine an edition starter set with no Ultramarines.
>>96145757Can't wait for this thread to hit page 6 for another round of retardation.

>>96145980None of the chaos armies are due a refresh. And GW don't launch new armies in starter boxes.
They do those towards the middle to tail end of the edition with big fomo launches to keep people spending. New launches are a where they tend to launch refreshes of existing ranges. If chaos get anything next edition it'll be a wave 2 for EC and World Eaters, or they'll drop a whole new faction (probably dark mech).

>>96145952Every other chaos marine army got their vehicles, only the Emperor's Children have to starve for tanks or dreadnoughts because the rules writers couldn't be bothered to copy paste a few datasheets from CSM. In an edition not as dominated by vehicles these guys would've been so good
It's this guy!

>>96146158the basic intercessor is the reason infantry are bad
any nurgles here mixed any body fluids in with their paints??
>>96146156I think it's a matter of date of release.
For instance they decided champions wouldn't be able to carry an Icon anymore between CSM and TS codexes.
By the time they released the EC codex they had decided that in 11th Chaos would be getting a new transport/tank thing that fits them and isn't just a loyalist rhino from 2005 with shitty bits on it.
>>96146153Tzaangor army that looks like Xavier renegade angel

>>96145726 (OP)>TQBoxnoughts, although I have to admit I don't have one yet.
>>96146175How does that excuse not using the old model to compensate for the lack of copy paste datasheets? It's literally a one minute effort and they couldn't fucking bother with that. This isn't planned, it's just incompetence from a divided corporation
>>96146159Gw will literally release any space marine that isn't pedro kantor
>>96146159>another ultramarineInto the trash bin it goes with the "new" drop pod.
Dark Eldar refresh is coming. I can feel it.
>>96146185It's not an excuse it's just how I imagine their retarded way of thinking.
>>96146185its very planned. they want to minimize crossover between armies, and would rather give them nothing than let them use something the player already owns

I recommend abteilung 502
>>96146186Pedo Kantro is never coming back, because GW hates the spanish speaking 40k community, and wants them to go away. They've been embarrased on social media by people turning up to Spanish GT's wearing SS emblems too many times. The Spanish fans were the whole reason they had to do that cringey "Warhammer is for everyone" campaign.
The Crimson Fists being faux-spanish are just an unfortunate casualty of GW being idiots and unable to handle PR properly.

If you're going to do it all over rather than a targeted panel liner you don't need to use as much solvent as that. You only need it really runny if you want it to suck into the recesses.
I hate that I developed my style over 40 miniatures into something I really like and the first 20 look kinda out of place
>>96146409It's always be like that. Your first army is always going to be an "escalating quality" army. Best you can hope for is your second army ends up more consistent. You can always go back and touch up old models but personally I feel like it's more endearing to keep your early models.
>>96146409When you get to a point where you have afully painted force, you can replace those guys, but never repaint them. Keep them as a reminder of how far you've come.
>>96146431You so rite kween
>>96146408The less you have to take off in the cleanup step the better. Slapping raw oil paint on models would be Gay.
>>96146452Yeah, but you've diluted it so much that the paint has split, and you have tiny little flecks of pigment in the middle of the armour panels. Its the same as thinning an acryllic with too much water, at some point it stops being paint and turns into dirty water.
>>96146408>>96146452yeah one of the places I need to improve on is not slapping the oil wash on like a monkey thinking โoh i will just clean it up laterโ

Daemons will get axed because genuinely nobody gives a shit about them besides like 4 people.
And 2.5 of them play AoS exclusively anyway.
>>96146941In order of most likely to least likely:
Chaos Demons
Deathwatch
Drukhari
Grey Knights
Imperial Agents
Knights
Custodes
Note that squatted in most of these cases just means not having an independent codex and getting rolled into another faction.

Tonight I played against necrons in only war for a nice change of pace. 1.5k
Deathleaper (80pts): Lictor claws and talons
Old One Eye (150pts): Old One Eyeโs claws and talons
Broodlord (100pts): Tremor Senses, Broodlord Claws and Talons
Neurotyrant (120pts): Synaptic Synergy, Neurotyrant claws and lashes, Psychic scream
Trygon (160pts): Trygon Character upgrade, Warlord, Trygon Prime, Bio-electric pulse, Trygon scything talons
10x Termagants (60pts)
Biovores (50pts)
Biovores (50pts)
10x Genestealers (150pts)
Lictor (60pts): Lictor claws and talons
3x Tyranid Warriors with Ranged Bio-Weapons (65pts)
6x Zoanthropes (200pts)
Ripper Swarms (25pts)
3x Spore Mines (55pts)
2x Carnifexes (230pts)
Necrons had:
Immotech
Nightbringer
Cryptek
6 destroyers
6 wraiths(cryptek goes here for fnp)
1 of the big tripod sentinels
1 reanimator
2x3 scarabs
Doom scythe
What followed was an excellent back and forth over points. Necrons phased out start of br 5 as victory was unattainable, lost by 1-2 points.
Anyway hereโs deployment.
>>96146996>projection>deflectionShould've seen it coming kek. All ritualposters are the same
>>96147007The Stupidity Field Generator, which makes enemies act completely retarded around them. Also synergizes well with their plot armor
>>96147007They have big guns, but their culture is not yet at the point where they want to destroy planets completely like this. They're still in their colonization phase, where they want to settle new planets. They are only just recently encountering the horrors of the galaxy that drive your culture towards destroying planets like this. The Imperium has weapons that explode planets because they know about chaos and how it works.
Give the tau more time and they'll be at the same spot. We'll get our tau exterminatus cannon or core implosion cannon after they have a few more crisis involving chaos or nids. They're too naive for it at the moment.
>>96147028they dont deserve anything
DW, GK, Custodes, SoB and any other stupid ass small Imperium faction should all be rolled into Imperial Agents
Knights should be rolled into Ad Mech and big knights limited to one per army
Flyers should be removed from the game
Psychic should be added back to the game and made more interesting
>>96147049Given that you had virtually no terrain, and still won means you are the coolest dude. Glad you had a good time anon, the beach board is cool
I did my first venom. Only 8 more boats to go. Slave pillar is a little tight here, gonna go on a reaver instead.
>>96146384The spanish are a pretty big warhammer community in europe. They even hold the biggest amount of golden demons. Not a smart move.
>>96147049Most dramatic picture. This is second part of round 2. My turn.
Trygon prime(had ingressed turn prior), genestealers and carnifex bust out of a hole, doom scythe ingresses forboedingly behind them.
Deathleaper fights the death marks off the top of the building then charges the cryptek trying to break the fnp- he fails devastatingly. The carnifex gang also failed their rerollable 7. The only consolation was due to the carnifex failing, I was able to launch scatter spore mines preventing the only viable attack run of the doom scythe forcing it back into reserves.
The wraiths fucking survived that deluge, madness.
>>96147067Fuck off with your stupid ass fantasies
They should stay in your dipshit head
>>96145753Dreads should get a big fucking gun, battle cannon or whatever
>>96145765I like blue dabadee dabadie

Iโm noticing a trend with gws obsession with crop tops. First it was nagash, then itโs scattered around here and there, and now space marines are showing off their slutty fucking stomachs.
>>96147143then theyd be called Nigga Kans
>>96147104I think the guns are cool but I really fucking hate the mechs themselves.

>>96147049>>96147073Thanks anon it was the toughest match Iโve had this edition. We decided to use the dense rules when shooting over the hill at least(but I promptly abandoned the middle except for a piddly unit of gaunts)
The hab blocks are buildings so although itโs an open field of death, I still had a lot of opportunities to go around.
In this pic
Anyway end of round 3 t1 necrons trygon slips back into reserves and my t3 I put him out on the other side of the necron layered screen, bringing the carnifex pack via the tunnel strat over.
My opponent was not pleased.
They then failed a 4 inch rerollable charge. I was not pleased.
Anyway most importantly here I managed to partially cage the necron player in their deployment. They had 2 objectives and a good shadow in the warp meant they only scored off one of them in that pivotal turn.
>>96146758Fuck you James. Rhinos will stay.

Murdering the last 2 zoans and neurotyrant on the point.
Anyway have nidfriends used the subteranean assault much?
It seems very fun but it is cp heavy, I begin to wonder if a walkrant would be a better investment for the strat.
Carnifex coming out at โ6โ superb, Iโve been setting it up by making the trygon ingress and then it just zooms off somewhere else 10 leaving everything else to bust out of the holes- in this case, both genestealers and carnifex
>>96147143What happened to his modelo
>>96147209I like the consistence of the men of iron models; like the grate/stripes on the pelvis, the joint visible through the knee, the ball head.
I hope they do more robots, they can be really cool
>>96147209>>96147104They're just a more advanced version of the Ad Mech punch bots.
All AI share the same design language in 40K. They all have that metallic dome head. Even the new TSons statue-bots have one hidden under their stargate helmets.
Why are they called rhinos if they dont have horns?
>>96147181Rhinos will stay, just not for vanilla marines.
Sisters, Imperial Agents, and CSM marines will keep them. Loyalists are definitely losing them.
>>96147235They do, Beep beep!
What army should I play if I want them to be war criminals?
>>96147238>just not for vanilla marinesThen what's the fucking point. It's the quintessential space marine transport. Then again boltguns are the quintessential 40k weapon and primaris can't fucking use them outside of scouts.
>>96147239But isnt that every vehicle?
I mentioned at some point I would post the entire squad when I'm done with the sorcerer but forgot about it, so here it is.

It's all chink resin, except the familiar who is pewter, possibly not a recast.
>>96147249Arguing that bolt rifles, bolt carbines, etc don't count as "boltguns" is pure sophistry anon.

>>96147348I've never bothered with the turrets, why are they so hated?
Just thinking how much of a missed opportunity the emperor's children release was.
Not only were their range extremely lackluster and small but it would have been a perfect opportunity to pit them against Iron Hands and have some cool lore.
>>96147104More like Basedjak lmao
>>961473621. ugly
2. stupid
>>96147362poor mobility mainly. They have decent dmg and firing line but their are much better options for the points.
Also they don't really work in our Iron Hands specific detachment which focuses on lots of dreads and vehicles.
>>96147362they're the equivalent of the aos terrain stuff, except they're not free so you arent forced to bring them. Thank god for that.
>>96147296Weird post, they have AL symbols all over them, and anon even mentioned his warband so there is no confusion, are you high or something?
>>96146945>Pulls out Havoc Squad with 4 Reaper ChaincannonsPerish
Is the white scars the only cool Combat patrol?
>>96147362Look a bit silly (no need for them to float)
Absurdly expensive for what they are. Each one is essentially an immobile Strength 10 Lascannon for 75 points. It's absurdly expensive, and kind of shit.
>>96147362Because they're shit looking models that are very expensive for what looks more like a GI Joe accessory than a scale mini.
And will always have shit rules, because a gun that can't move (or one that moves very slowly) is a shit idea in a game all about fire and manoeuvre.
>>96147343I settle on Dark Angels but there are other chapters I'm considering, like IF/CF or White Scars
>how did you change themColor scheme, I put some purple tabards because I really loved the Dark Vengeance captain, I favor green instead of red, so my Deathwing is Bone/White/Green
I have some Ravenwing bikers but I don't like bikes much so I focus on land speeders.
I also make up new units, like Ravenwing Cabal (Vanguard Vets) or Ravenwing Pathfinders (Veteran Scouts, using the Infiltrator rules)
I think the simplest way I can explain the process is: remove what you don't like, either fix it or ignore it, then add stuff you like.

>>96147431>vote with your walletHow many rhinos do you think I should buy for GW to not stop producing that old kit when there are people out there buying thousands of dollars worth of warhammers that very much include the new impulsor and other newer kits?

>>96147465>Even a castaferrumOnly if they were like half the points. They cost the exact same as a ballistus despite being worse in literally every way. It's criminal.
>>96147443Why would a heresy tank sale get tracked as a 40k sale? How would gw know that you're using it for another game? There's a reason why we're seeing removal of models played in multiple rules systems and its because the sales tracking is easier for them.
>>96147460>You're a retarded schizo for seeing the pattern! You're either an industry plant trying to support a million dollar corporation or you're just plain dumb. Either way, you're missing the point in GW trying to separate game systems to ensure individual profits and a three year slop churn

>>96147482>There's a reason why we're seeing removal of models played in multiple rules systems and its because the sales tracking is easier for them. The reason is stupidity because they are the same company. A sale is a sale. Also it shouldn't surprise anyone that people would rather buy a brand new kit that's CHEAPER than the jank old kit from 2003 that never fit properly and is more expensive, somehow.

- Mars patterns vehicles
- Mk7 marines

What were they thinking setting it in 30k?
>>96147535The scouring books don't mean the Horus heresy game is going to be advancing to a post Terran invasion time period. That's not happening anymore than GW changing it to Warhammer 50K.

>>96147585Expansion Campaign Book coming soon trust
>>96147565Then doubly so.
>>96147586Really limiting that you have to freehand most of these heraldries
>>96147583Mainline studio don't want to waste effort on bringing back epic, when it's a more niche game style, that would directly fight with 40k for customers.
Specialist games team does want to do it, but the main studio won't let them use the 40K setting, because as previously mentioned, it would undercut 40k sales. So they set it in the heresy. And doomed it to failure because no one wanted epic without the xenos.
>>96147583>What were they thinking setting it in 30k?Can we make HH players rebuy their army

โThe cruiser-grade stardrive core had been reconfigured into an ad hoc weapon of mass destruction, rarely employed, save against the combative beโgel hordes or the devouring swarms of the the. >>96147634>the devouring swarms of the the>Named so after how everyone's last words upon encountering them>The... The!...
>>96147496The reason is that it's impossible to track your sales and find out how your product is doing if they're being used for other things. If you look at 7th ed, you had all this fw stuff that they poured money I to for heresy, but at least half the sales were going to 40k players. So while it seems like their heresy release is doing well, 50% of those sales are going to something that isn't heresy. At that point they have no idea if heresy players like the product they made for them, because an unknown number of those sales aren't by heresy players. It's sucks, but there is a concrete reasoning for it.
>>96147523Because you can paint your models how you like, and that dark green looked similar to the dark green highlights on the iron hands scheme.

I want an army of axe-wielding chaos marines alongside a half-mutated champion who has to fight the urge to Spawn in the midst of combat as a self-proclaimed King bellows his demands to destroy and despoil his enemies.
>>96147757I mean you can still play like that, its why they keep points costs in codexs, you dont need to go online for anything, as long as you and your opponent are on the same pge you can do whatever, especially if youre only playing a handful of times each year
Rule changes are more for people who are playing twice weekly

>>96146520Space marines were supposed to have leather combat boots. But the molds couldn't cope with them, so they resculpted them to have hard, flat greaves.

>>96147791i tried that and showed up for my clubs saturday night warhammer pickup game night a few times so far over 10th edition and every time was told i was missing X or playing with some outdated rules. one of the guys were cool with it, but a couple took the whole "i'll wait a few minutes so you can download what you need" or "you can borrow my extra cards" thing and i have to learn new rules on the spot every time.

>>96147839>Beep, Boss, Beeep!
>>96147813Fuck the psychic phase, I'm glad it's gone. Every edition that has had it has been worse for it.
Without fail it always devolves into the "Eldar, Tyranids and Thousand Sons phase", that no one else gets to do anything meaningful in.
>>96147844i prefer the new ones. this shit is just a fucking wall of text, it was always hard to look at.
>>96147735Literally just port the new Heresy ruleset and call it 11th. Just have all the marketing say how streamlined and accessible it is and all the retards will buy it.
>>96147860god this shit is so awful. no
>>96147694I want abilities moved off of units and into detachments. I've played with new players, and it's very hard for them to remember all the abilities of their models, but easier to remember faction abilities since they all tend to be organized into one spot and one theme. Every unit doesn't need a unique rule, sometimes a guy with a flamethrower is just a guy with a flamethrower.
>>96147860Didn't 2nd Ed give up on the CL/WP/IN stats?
I get splitting Leadership, but what does Intelligence even do?
>>96147855Because it's for listbuilding. The beauty of the old modular unit profiles is that during the game you only need this shit. Because things weren't formatted in a way that they have zero consistency and you need to either memorize every single unit or constantly reference your stupid card.
>>96147859>Not a new space marine lt.We all won
>>96147844I like war scrolls so much more than the old state
It allows for different melee weapon profiles
It has different move values for characters (though I guess you could add this)
I would like to see a return of initiative
Seeing all the options a unit can fight with on one sheet is convenient
>>96147282>>96147289>but it looks differentOk, I guess phobos or tigrus pattern boltguns aren't boltguns either since they look different than godwyn.
>>96147859For me it's IH because that guy looks like a good Techmarine in terminator armour conversion base
>>96147871>it's very hard for them to remember all the abilities of their modelsIt is? It's no different than each card in magic the gathering having an ability it can do
basic units only have one special ability and hero characters have 2
>>96147876These don't work like the old stats anyways. But the system is pretty good.
You have Cool for status checks (pinning, suppresed).
Leadership for routing.
Willpower for psychic powers.
Inteligence for repairs and using some tech.
In general the morale rework of 30k works great and it's a million times better than whatever the fuck 10th passes for morale.
Playing Guard, how much better is the plasma pistol over the boltpistol for units like Commissars or the Death Korpsโ Watchmaster?
I prefer the bolt pistol vibes wise but apparently the plasma is like the best thing since sliced bread
>>96147809> be grateful for what you have.Grateful that I have incomplete armies with obviously missing units that James couldn't bother writing rules for? I'm so grateful that I'm treated like a second class citizen because I'm not a paypig like a Primaris Marine faggot. I'm very fucking grateful I only get one model every edition while Marines get 8 release waves every fucking edition for the most redundant shit in the world.
>>96147883Notice how all of those are "X patter boltgun" and have the stats of a boltgun. Notice how the same isn't true for bolt carbines, bolt rifles and heavy bolt rifles. If GW had taken the bolt carbine design and called it a boltgun I wouldn't give two shits. But if they call it something else, give it better rules and then completely sideline the most iconic weapon of both the army and setting then I do have a problem.
>>96147853>no one else gets to do anything meaningful inJust like Tau not doing meaningful shit in fight phase and WE not doing meaningful shit in shooting. Different armies play differently.
>>96147876More numbers to tweak means that they have another way of trying to pretend that everyone isn't just playing marine mirror matches.
Give it another edition and they'll start adding back in location based damage tables, then it'll be tracking ammo and reloads per model. By HH 5.0 they'll be playing competitive inq 28.
>>96147888you have to memorize over a dozen special rules for your army, and then another dozen special rules for your opponents army
new players struggle with this and forget their abilities all the time
I accidentally got super glue on the model I just finished painting
not a lot
but enough to make me angry
>>96147819Because then they don't know whether to focus their efforts on heresy or 40k. Sales are great but if you don't know why the product is selling then you don't know whether you should make more things like that for heresy or whether you should make more things like that for 40k, which means you could potentially be missing out on sales. It's not about what's selling now it's about how they're going to make sales in the future
>>96147877>they look like a wall of text so that in game all you need is this other excel spreadsheetyeah you're really not selling it there bub
>>96147881>It allows for different melee weapon profiles>It has different move values for characters (though I guess you could add this)Literally none of this is true nor it has anything to do with the formatting of the unit profiles.
>>96147902your joke dwarves shouldn't even be in the setting, they never fit in even when they were the squats
>>96147853Fluff different things to fit in the Psychic phase.
I.e. Admech can do an overclocked Doctrina by having a techpriest try to cast it, Sisters can invoke miracles and the like
>>96147883As anon said it's not just looks.
But sure, if you wanna be a huge faggot, let's go that way:
Phobos, Tigrus, Umbra and Godwin are all Bolter variants: they're all bolters, sharing the same basic cues but in a different package.
Cawl Mk2 Bolt rifles are different, despite sharing cues with godwin bolters they differ in dimensions.
It's like the difference between a man and woman, compared to the different between a black man and an asian man.
Phobos, Umbra, Godwin, Tigrus are all bolters (men), godwin being a style (black), while the bolt rifle (woman) shares a style with godwin (black)
I hope this makes sense to you
>>96147898Model them with whatever you want and play with whatever you want
Because points dont matter anymore WYSIWYG is so much more lenient, plasma is better, so everyone is just going to have plasma now. It's easy to tell your opponent, "everyone has plasma pistols"
>>96147917Anon when in game you just need to check a single characteristing for a roll it's way easier and more convenient to have all the profiles together like that, rather than having to flip through 12 warscrolls until you find the one of the unit you wanna check. It's also a lot easier to know what to roll when the exact same weapon or wargear doesn't have different rules or stats depending on who uses it.
>>96147903>but statsIrrelevant. You went on about how they look different.
Phobos and tigrus aren't boltguns then.
Also if we go by stats then in your retarded world view the boltgun seizes to be a boltgun if GW buffed them and changed the stats, meaning it has different stats than a boltgun, therefore making it not a boltgun.
>The orcs and demons and shit attacking everyone are actually just preparing the way for the next black crusade hahaha...
>Actually the black crusade that just got defeated was just the vanguard of the REAL black crusade
>Actually it doesn't matter if every single black crusade ever was a massive failure because it was all according to plan hahaha...
Abaddon is such a failure.
>>96147936>Phobos, Tigrus, Umbra and Godwin are all Bolter variantsNope, not even bolter variants.
They are boltguns no longer and you can't use them on anything anymore.
>>96147943>you said two things but I'm gonna ignore one of them because it doesn't fit meGo eat shit with your retarded bolt rifles. You Will Never Be A Boltgun.
>>96147889>Inteligence for repairs and using some tech.Who uses that?
I can see most if not all units needing the first three, but not the intelligence checks
Again that was my question: why is intelligence a thing for everyone
>>96147905I know this, my question is why intelligence is needed
>>96147920What do you mean? Some models have have Sweeping and Strike attacks now which didn't exist before
>>96147871New players always struggle. It doesn't matter where the rules are written. People generally get along with warsroll style rules than they ever did with the tomes and tomes of stratagems you had to memorise for 8th and 9th. 95% of which never mattered, until they did and suddenly they were crucial.
You also underestimate the mental load of memorisation because you already know what a lashun profile should be, what a heavy bolter is, so you assume it would be that easy for newer players too. Having newbies flick through the wargear section of the book to cross reference with their unit stats is so much worse than just handing them a card to read when it's time to activate a unit.
>>96147877Anon youโre really not selling this and Iโm very neutral
>>96147923I'm a chaos player and I hate how we lost all of our dreadnoughts, our cultists with guns, and are unable to soup with the other parts of chaos due to the weird philosophy that each army must be separate and unique fron each other, even if the army is just another flavor of marines.
>>96147898Its the difference between potentially annoying a Marine, or outright evaporating one.
Theres not even a contest, even when you dont overcharge it, the plasma being str 7 and ap 2 without having to buff it just btfos the bolt pistol as long as upgrades are free.
>>96147940I like WYSIWYG for my own models
>>96147953>they're not boltguns anymoreAre you alright buddy?
>>96147954If phobos, tigrus and umbra are boltguns then boltrifles are boltguns too. :)
You are not weaseling your way out of this one.

>>96147970if you were actually a chaos player you would know you can still soup your different legions into chaos armies just fine
>>96147859I think all of them are winners for all marine players for conversion fodder aside from the rg guy who is tougher to make fit into another chapter. That said the rg guy is a huge win for rg players because they finally got something outside of shrike. Overall I think we all eating good
>>96147959Intelligence is for repair checks (for techpriests, techmarines and the likes) and some wargear like augurs need an intelligence check to work. It all works like any leadership check ever worked but now different models have different stats for different tasks, so you don't have a super psyker be the most valiant man alive just becaus he's good at mind games.
>>96147975Phobos, tigrus and umbra look different from godwyn, therefore they are not boltguns.
They are fakes.
>>96147977nta but what kind of spirale are you going into?
Define what a bolter is to you, define what a bolt rifle is.
I think it's pointless to try and decipher what you're trying to say if there isn't a base from which to work.
>>96147911Bob smith debonder. Alternatively you can try stippling on some gloss varnish and it can sometime knock back some of the frosting unless it's on a very dark colour
>>96147877>you only need this excel spreadsheetwhich is not true
you also need the special weapon profiles of the guns and melee the unit uses
which you needed to flip through the book to get to
Units typically only have 1 main special rule now which is displayed on the sheet, some weapons or special abilities might reference another ability but it is typically referencing a universal special rule, which a player should be able to learn over time, just like universal rules in magic the gathering
>>96147906There's new players, and there's "new players".
People who try to learn generally don't have a problem after a game or two.
You can't plan for the retards who refuse to actually read the rules and just try to soak them up organically as they go. They exist in every tabletop game, RPGs, boardgames, even monopoly has those people who think they know how to play until they suddenly get confused when you start an auction for a property.
>>96147998Anon says that looks, name and stats don't matter because a bolt rifle is a bolt weapon. So in his own logic a vulcan mega bolter is also a boltgun.
>>96147991Godwyn is a pattern of boltgun, so are the others.
Then by your definition bolt rifles aren't boltguns either because they're Cawl patterns, not Godwyns.
>>96148008>which you needed to flip through the book to get toNot true. But you can't have something like this anymore because now a chainsword has a different statline in every datasheet.
>>96147978No you can't. The only soup you're allowed is one or two detachments allowed graciously by the rules writers and not by our own volition. Then they limit how many points you can have of them, then they make the rules super fucked so you can't just run both armies consistently without some bullshit arbitrartion like how Daemons need Battleline just to run a Greater Daemon. Chaos Marines can only use the basic infantry from other cult marine armies and nothing else (Berzerkers, Plagues, Rubrics, Noises)
>>96148024>Chaos Marines can only use the basic infantry from other cult marine armies and nothing else (Berzerkers, Plagues, Rubrics, Noises)just like it always has been
>>96148012Then a bolt pistol is a boltgun too.
It's pointless to try and remove existing definitions, it just means people will create others.
Anon thinks he can brute force his lack of pattern recognition onto others it seems.
>>96148013If bolt rifles are boltguns, why are they called bolt rifles and not boltguns? Why do they have different stats to boltguns like the ones scouts and CSM carry?

>>96148055Can't see shit. This is the pic I wanted to post.
Boltrifles are better than boltguns.
So Grey Knights and Black Templar are this weekend.
So as of the start of August that just leaves Votann, Imperial Knights, and Drukhari right? Is GW actually going to get all their Codexes out before the end of the year?
>>96148024Soup is dog shit, and armies look better, more cohesive, and interesting with it gone.

>>96148077I can't imagine caring one way or another
>>96148036>why are they called bolt rifles and not boltguns?Same reason why GW calls the new primaris meltaguns "meltarifles", they gave them a different name intentionally to trigger autists.

>>96148032>just like it always has beenYeah, and back then I could run Predators with my Noise Marines in an Emperor's Children army. I could use an actual dreadnought alongside Lucius and not have an illegal army. I could run CULTISTS in a CULT ARMY and not be called a cheater

>>96148121>using special charactersfag
>>96148112Depends on your definition.
If for you a boltgun is a bolt weapon, then sure.
But for other people, boltgun is the medium, standard bolt weapon.
Bolt pistol, boltgun, heavy bolter.
Plasma pistol, plasmagun, plasma cannon
Grav pistol, grav gun, grav cannon
It depends on who you ask
>>96148102This is the basis for my own custom chapter in 40k.

>>96148158Thanks anon. I almost have 1k points painted already. Hopefully I'll get them finished this week. Already have the next 500 points sorted. Grey and yellow does look pretty baller.
BTW I'm still not sure if I should paint the exhausts of the backpacks metallic. All the new 30k stuff paints them like that and it does look pretty good but having them as the same colour as the backpack is the classic.
>>96148177>Only autistic faggots care about it.Where do you think we are?
>>96148148You're watching YouTubers, they're playing for the camera. Play it out in person against someone actually trying to win, rather than just do what will look cool on camera is a fucking slog. It's endless checking for reactions, having to check template placement, putting down piles of tokens everywhere to track statuses...
If you have a whole day, and you're playing against your mate in his house, it's fine. Playing against a random, or loose acquaintance in a club where you have to finish in 3 hours including setup and packing away is a fucking nightmare.

>>96148193>Where do you think we are?In an asylum.
>>96148160Eh I dunno. I got worried about damage leading to bloated wound and damage counts but that didn't happen. New mental stats and tactical statuses are great and IMO the best version of morale we've ever had and splitting those allowed weapon families to be more different which is welcome. New FOC is weird and a bit unnecessary but I like it. I wouldn't mind either to be honest. The only change I really dislike is heavy weapons, especially with the new snap shots being 5+ for marines. I think that would have been buff enough.
>>96148188>powerpack exhaustsCan't post it but I have this pic of a guy's AL conversions and I really like what he did:
The coils on top are copper while the exhaust are steel, I find it's a really good look with the AL blue.
I'd say try things, maybe some white or yellow, there's bound to be a style of powerpack scheme you like.
>>96148210>You don't run the Emperor's Children to run Emperor's ChildrenNext thing you'll tel me is that you'll have to use World Eaters for a proper Iron Warriors list.

>>96148206>It's endless checking for reactions, having to check template placement, putting down piles of tokens everywhere to track statuses...You don't need to use tokens. These things aren't hard to keep track of. And reactions are few and limited so I don't really need to keep them in my mind all the time like I have to do with stratagems. I haven't played 3.0 yet for obvious reasons but I have played 2.0 and I didn't have any of those issues. The game actually plays a lot faster when you don't need to constantly reference shit like in 10th. Everything works off of the same core instead of modern GW design being a giant pile of exceptions on top of a tiny core.
Will they get legends rules?
>>96148245You literally started it by saying to use another army entirely just to run the army I use to have. You moved the fucking goalpost first by trying to say I can always run Emperor's Children with units not included in Emperor's Children. Why are you even defending these shitty business decisions?
Bolt Rifles are not Boltguns.
>>96148264The Kratos got legends rules and it was the last 30k model to release before these. So maybe. Probably not.
>>96148265you didn't used to have it, the only units for the EC were noise marines that were just upgrade sprues and you can still run those in the army you had to run those in for 40 years

>>96148206>just do what will look coolNta but this is how me and my friends have always played and we have a great time
>>96148263>The game actually plays a lot faster Which homebrew were you using?
>>96148264No.
They were never legal in the past, so GW is never going to give them rules.
>>96148264If it were a couple years ago I'd say yes, with the way gw is handling cross compatibility in their games in 2025 I'd say probably not.
>>96148264Did they ever give Chaos the kratos rules?
>>96148279And now they're a separate army and it's unacceptable because they lack the most basic units that they had those same 40 years. Proper way to play EC now sucks. Reminds me of the shit Slaanesh had in Age of Sigmar. Mass heroes + one key unit (15 Noise Marines). I fucking hated that in AoS where at one point your whole army was basically 3 Keepers + other heroes and dudes on slaanesh steeds for screening and tying shit up so Keepers can blend them.
It's the same for EC but you also do some pew pew from range with Noise Marines.

>>96148415But you never see these accompanied by logistic unit -- there exist no logistic units in general in the tabletop, short of few IA models with integrated crew.
>>96148419That's a good solution. Imho GW should have long since introduced logistic units and mechanics -- it'd add depth to the game (and they could pad their profits, if they required logistic units for large scale game modes).
>>96147963I never said I wanted abilities on wargear either. Instead of Infernus Marines having an ability to force battleshock, there should just be a Salamanders detachment that lets you activate it. Either giving players a lot more CP each turn, or dividing strategems that cost CP from abilities that cost "AP". Then you can just hand a newbie a single piece of paper with all of their army's abilities on it all at once. It's so fucking obnoxious having to open up the app and bounce back and forth from unit to unit looking up abilities.

>>96148394>Reloaded automatically A MRLS battery wouldn't be anywhere near the frontline in real life, so if they're on the tabletop you're in some fucked up weird contrived scenario anyway, so assuming there's a resupply wagon just off the board edge full of missile racks if the whirlwind needs it isn't any crazier than that.

We'll get a plastic thunderhawk in 11th edition. I can feel it.
>>96148394Marine models carry like 3 magazines worth of ammo. Ammo supply is handled by little offscreen servitors and ammo serfs that you'll sometimes see in 40k artwork.
>>96148524first make fliers not suck, either to play against or with:

>>96148524>GW stops making aircraft because people hate them>GW stops making lords of war because people hate them (no, guard players don't count as "people")"They're going to make a Flying lord of war next edition guys, I feel it"
>>96148474Energy weapons certainly have an edge in immersion.
>>96148485Hence why I dislike vehicles (especially artillery) with tiny capacity/complete lack of logistics (literally and figuratively). I much prefer IA models, because even without logistic units, it's implied that the machinery is being actively maintained and supplied, and that ammunition isn't warping into the (inaccessible) batteries and chambers.
>>96148539Maybe unwelcome opinion considered the thread but I like the way they've handled flyers in 3.0. They do bombing runs.

>>96148545What ever happened to Cawl's Overlords? They straight up replaced Thunderhawks in Dark Imperium because of their dual carry bays, heavier weapons and stronger engines.
I just miss 2000s Forge World I'll be honest. It was nice having that variety of stuff. Variants, extra armour, extra doors. Nothing really overpowered just different.
Basically a separate team taking GW stuff and remixing it.
>>96148588Ya I liked the pictures of the stuff too, but you actually paid money for the deformed resin?
>>96148524I think primarchs are shit, thunderhawks are proper center piece models: you just finished your company of marines, time to treat yourself to a thunderhawk, that, looks great with your marines around it.

>>96148326Every time i see these old kino sovl army pics I get the urge to set up my table and take some myself
>>96148532Issue being that a lack of (or inadequate) logistics complete destroy the scale of time and space in the tabletop. Tiny capacities (
>>96147776) are only reasonable for strategic, high yield and long distance ordnance -- so the models should at the very least be limited-use. Whereas models like

>>96148601It wasn't that bad in the 00s as later on as they had more time to cast stuff compared to like 2015. And maybe less of a cut-throat mentality from central GW.
This was the time of stuff like Warhammer Historical being allowed to exist too.
>>96148604I was a teenager and I got a lot of the early Tau stuff. And a lot of the limited edition figures. But not the Kroot Bird
>>96148588I remember in ~2009 when I first saw these mk4 dreads, these fuckers had a grip on me. I thought maybe one day I could get one of those, but it sold the hobby again and again for me.

>>96148633Old character models are better looking than new ones, much more soul
old tanks (except Eldar tanks) are uglier than new ones
I laugh at these fucking little baby rhinos now
>>96148640Aye. Like I know the sculpts are arguably "better" now and have captivated even more people. I'll never win a fight on that hill.
But I do miss the modularity of 90s and 00s plastics and how Forge World fitted into that.
>>96148588It was overly expensive, dogshit quality, and had either terrible, or completely broken rules. So no one would let you use them in games.
It wasn't until the plague that is the "ITC" sprouted in the US and started allowing them that they crept into usage in 40k. Those were the dark times in 40k, and no one wants to go back to 6th, or 7th edition.
>>96148633Older models are often designed better designed, yes. By people who have used tools and performed manual labor before... rule of cool only gets you so far, especially when logistics become virtually impossible.
>>96148637Most new models are designed as if the they are single-use items in-universe.
>>96148652>old tanks are uglierVery true. Still love them though.
>>96148676>Older models are often better designed, yes.*Bleh.
>>96148628Once again, everything is viable because there's a whole team of support jabronis for each vehicle and marine that aren't modeled
>>96148671I think you're wrong, especially around 3rd and 4th
>>96148666It's how I feel about it too.
I like primaris, but it is annoying to see GW intentionally half-assing everything and doing the bare minimum due to greed.
Like they 100% could add more variation to new sculpts, CAD makes adding variation and other small detail bits super fucking easy, but the only reason they don't do that is purely because they are lazy.
At least in the new Space Wolf kits they seem to be moving back into making more unique sculpts, like on the grey hunters they have different details on the chest plates.
But it is really stupid that it has taken them like 8 fucking years to do so.
>>96148638>was a teenager and I got a lot of the early Tau stuff. And a lot of the limited edition figures. But not the Kroot BirdHow the fuck. do you mean finecast?
>>96147209Whatโs ur-025 even up to now? Is it still hanging out in that one blackstone fortress?
>>96148666It's true that there is no point in "fighting" people who aren't in the hobby for the same reasons.
If you like details, character, content, you're not gonna have any sway to someone who doesn't care for any of it.
And after years of trying to do that, I have lost all respect for people who care more for the finess of plastic moulds than what is being made into plastic miniatures in the first place.
You can polish a turd, and all.
I've recently been on a rabbit hole about Edgar Skomorowski, a guy who sculpted so many great stuff for FW, and it's hard for me to look at today's 40k with kindness when you see the gap between what could be and what is.
I want to meet and talk to the people who design the modern stuff because I want to understand what the fuck is wrong with them.
>>96148691>each vehicle and marine that aren't modeledThat's 95% head canon though, if it wasn't GW would milk its paypiggies with it.
It's okay if it's implied and reflected in the game mechanics in cases with obviously and undeniable limited capacities.
>>96148715No Forge World resin. Remora Drones, Tetras and Piranhas (before it was turned into plastic, that was another thing GW would do instead of just making shit up like now), a Barracuda was like ยฃ50 so it wasn't like mega expensive.
>>96148735Oh did he sculpt that? I use that model as a rogue trader and his guys as kitbash fodder, those are awesome sculpts.
Are you saying he quit GW? that's awful.
>>96148735That model is dogshit anon.
Every single part of his cape is blowing in a different direction. There's no cohesion to the movement at all.
>>96148735models today are created in such a way as to make them easier to paint
and to the credit of the models designers they are much easier to paint then what has come before
to the average person the models still have the same amount as coolness
to old hats looking for soulful sculps, there's not going to be a comparison, but that's not the target demo to make money
And ya, GW misses sometimes, but if you want a comparison to what it could be like, just check out any popular 3d print 'variant' exists for a 40k product, they're all absolute shit
>>96148753Edgar did the whole of the Solar Auxilia, there's even a bunch of unreleased stuff.
Long story short: Edgar wanted to try sculpting digitally, so as a proof of concept, he did the Solar Auxilia, which GW liked so much that they made into, well, the Solar Auxilia.
He's doing is own stuff now.
I'm not surprised he left GW, when you see the stuff he sculpts you want him as free as possible.

>>96148812>>96148766I think one thing they're doing now, as seen with the giant... >>96148802I don't own a single Finecast miniature somehow, I had my "break" from GW around that time.

But it's like it's become an obsession, to the point it's making their ยฃ100 kits more of a chore. How anyone can justify that I'm just as curious as you. The Design Studio is more faceless than ever.

>>96148903>>96148911I just thought maybe get them as a keepsake to keep on my shelf (and maybe for some old bits). The new Wolf Guard is infinitely superior. Logan made sense but no idea if whole old units are worth it or a waste of money since the new ones are better.
>>96148909>an obsessionI'd say so yeah, I think it's because that's the business model/process.
>how anyone can justify thatIf this thread taught me one thing it's that some people can't help but make poor decisions AND get really angry and tribal when you entertain the idea that things can (and used to) be better in the important aspects.
In the end GW's quasi monopoly stems from the 40k universe and the style/finess of the final miniature, not their kits.

>Implying a factions importance requires it to have a prominent place on the tabletop.
Ynnari deserved better, and they were perfectly fine in 7th edition wherein you just combo'd the two factions and played with their new soul burst abilities.
Just because they are, whether you like it or not, responsible for the current narrative, doesn't mean you need to play them.
>>96149537there's starter kits for each army called Combat Patrols, theoretically you and a friend could each get one and pit them against each other. If you are looking for brand new and cost savings and getting started asap this is a way to do it
However if you are willing to buy second youll get more bang for your buck if you dont mind searching ebay/fb for used models
>>96149625Woah there pal, we don't do sensible opinions here. Now you make your government mandated bitching about primaris post.
bake a new thread so I can post my new painted models
I find people sell second hand warhammer on Facebook Marketplace for WAY too much
they don't understand how much their shitty ass moldlines and crappy builds affect me
>>96149537You've got things like combat patrol and kill team for smaller, low power games
>>96149646Have to look for old listing and make offers
there used to be an autistic fuck who made a thread a new thread even at page 3 and now cant even bake at image limit?!
>>96149693He couldn't breathe...
Bake. I don't even care if it's arbites flavoured just bake.
>>96149635Sorry, I uh, I hate their knee pads
>>9614964150/50 odds on this being 30 minute orkfag or decalfag
>>96149784>just bake it yourselvesI'm not a fucking baker. I went to college.
>>96149338Someone at GW really thought the next big ork release was gonna be fantasy-style feral orkz. Fortunately real ork players looked at it, tossed it aside, and then went back to looting everything around them. Hopefully they'll actually make a good boyz kit that isn't monoposed slop (same with the cultists)
>>96149653I thought Kill Team played differently to normal 40K, was I wrong in assuming that?
Dark Eldar refresh bros... how are we holding up?
>>96149784Sorry but I'm not very good in the kitchen. The one time I tried baking, the bread ended up hard as a rock.
>>96146521What the fuck does that even mean? It's a shitty ultramarine no one wanted. It goes into the trash with the other unwanted trash
>>96149816You know you can paint it however you want right nomodels?
>>96149819>implying I'd buy literal trash
>>96149819post your models with a timestamp (in the next thread)
>>96149821>>96149825>nomodels seethingyou love to see it
>>96149825>post your models with a timestamp (in the next thread)Now I'm not going to post my models to punish you. Nice going, retard. You ruined it for others.
>>96149834>Still hasn't posted their own models
>>96149834>>96149835uh oh, nomodels melties...
>>96147104I can't bros this army is so cheeks. Just miss after miss.
Genuinely makes me feel kinda sad when I see someone going through the effort to paint it to a high standard, like an old ugly woman trying to look younger with makeup. Thankfully that's rare (the paintjob not the old women).
>>96149838>>96149839wait a little bit longer before hitting enter on your phone and computer next time lil /v/ermin
>>96149839>post ur models so I can treat you like decalfag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>96149844Okay now you're just being schizophrenic...
>>96149839Seethe more nomodels
>>96149844>>96149845>>96149849you guys are getting awfully defensive...

Literal fucking children
>>96149852Did you just fucking assume my gender?
>>96149854unironically as annoying as schizo spergouts
>>96149859Yeah I did bbygrill
>>96149860>>96149854agreed
just wait till he starts calling us samefags with a wall of >>'s
and we share some insight with a responding screencap
>>96149860Why is he even calling out /v/ specifically? What did vidya do to get roped in with the schizo?
bake a bread or I will never post again
>>96147859RG > Sally > IH > WS > IF
I think White Scar are hindered by marine vehicles being about as aerodynamic as a brick of shit. IF are just boring per usual.
>>96149808They're pretty different from each other, but share similar gameplay mechanics. Kill team is on an individual scale instead of units of multiple dudes.
>>96149873secondaries lashing out at tertiaries
>>96149875I wish I could but I'm retarded and would fuck it up
*insert picture of crying pepo with a chef's hat here*
if we had a discord instead we wouldnt need new threads and we could shun cringe posters just sayin
>>96149888Some anon did make a discord but it was pretty terrible.
Admins of this site need to allow us to post more pictures per thread.
>>96149888>BrotherEww.jpg>Image Limit Reached
>>96149873I presume a bunch of people they dislike are assumed to come from the plethora of 40k gamers from /v/.
This is alledged at best.
>>96149873>Only one person calls out obnoxious /v/erminAdorable cope
>>96149888the only people opposed to a discord are those without models that do nothing but derail this general since they're the only ones who have anything to gain from remaining unidentifiable
>>96149887I could bake one as well but I'm German and they don't like when we use ovens.
Alright I'll bake if the countdown doesn't keep repeating itself for some reason.
Any thread question suggestions?

>>96149916The one I have at the moment is: "If you could utilize any song and it make it the theme of your army like a character theme, what would it be?"
>>96149916Something that encourages people to post models
>>96149916TQ should be around which faction needs a rules change.

Working with oils is so incredibly pleasant no wonder artists preferred these.

>>96149921>>96149925>>96149933What even makes a thread question a good thread question?
>199 seconds to go unless this site makes me wait the whole 300 seconds again>yes it does that.
>>96149938I have 6 different profiles on discord I can be anyone I want
also the entire 'bolter' convo today was obviously just 1 guy yelling at himself the whole time no one gives a fuck about marine weapons
>>96149943Something relevant to current game releases or hobby developments.
Something faction agnostic so everyone can weigh in.
Something personal opinion based without clear community consensus.
>>96149943Anything but what is your favorite x or the most y
TQ: What if we had Sisters of Battle on jetbikes?
>>96149951yes yes keep crying shitposter
>>96149811Not great to be honest but I don't want to go on a massive rant right now.
