None of the chaos armies are due a refresh. And GW don't launch new armies in starter boxes.
They do those towards the middle to tail end of the edition with big fomo launches to keep people spending. New launches are a where they tend to launch refreshes of existing ranges. If chaos get anything next edition it'll be a wave 2 for EC and World Eaters, or they'll drop a whole new faction (probably dark mech).

Every other chaos marine army got their vehicles, only the Emperor's Children have to starve for tanks or dreadnoughts because the rules writers couldn't be bothered to copy paste a few datasheets from CSM. If anything, it's pretty intentional that they released 3/4 chaos armies without any actual model ranges to support being a separate army

I think it's a matter of date of release.
For instance they decided champions wouldn't be able to carry an Icon anymore between CSM and TS codexes.
By the time they released the EC codex they had decided that in 11th Chaos would be getting a new transport/tank thing that fits them and isn't just a loyalist rhino from 2005 with shitty bits on it.

Deathleaper fights the death marks off the top of the building then charges the cryptek trying to break the fnp- he fails devastatingly. The carnifex gang also failed their rerollable 7. The only consolation was due to the carnifex failing, I was able to launch scatter spore mines preventing the only viable attack run of the doom scythe forcing it back into reserves.

The wraiths fucking survived that deluge, madness.

The hab blocks are buildings so although it’s an open field of death, I still had a lot of opportunities to go around.

Anyway end of round 3 t1 necrons trygon slips back into reserves and my t3 I put him out on the other side of the necron layered screen, bringing the carnifex pack via the tunnel strat over.
My opponent was not pleased.
They then failed a 4 inch rerollable charge. I was not pleased.

Anyway most importantly here I managed to partially cage the necron player in their deployment. They had 2 objectives and a good shadow in the warp meant they only scored off one of them in that pivotal turn.

The reason is that it's impossible to track your sales and find out how your product is doing if they're being used for other things. If you look at 7th ed, you had all this fw stuff that they poured money I to for heresy, but at least half the sales were going to 40k players. I've played with new players, and it's very hard for them to remember all the abilities of their models, but easier to remember faction abilities since they all tend to be organized into one spot and one theme. Leadership for routing.
Willpower for psychic powers.
Inteligence for repairs and using some tech.

People generally get along with warsroll style rules than they ever did with the tomes and tomes of stratagems you had to memorise for 8th and 9th. 95% of which never mattered, until they did and suddenly they were crucial.

You also underestimate the mental load of memorisation because you already know what a lashun profile should be, what a heavy bolter is, so you assume it would be that easy for newer players too. Having newbies flick through the wargear section of the book to cross reference with their unit stats is so much worse than just handing them a card to read when it's time to activate a unit.

New mental stats and tactical statuses are great and IMO the best version of morale we've ever had and splitting those allowed weapon families to be more different which is welcome. New FOC is weird and a bit unnecessary but I like it. I wouldn't mind either to be honest. The only change I really dislike is heavy weapons, especially with the new snap shots being 5+ for marines. I think that would have been buff enough.

You don't need to use tokens. These things aren't hard to keep track of. And reactions are few and limited so I don't really need to keep them in my mind all the time like I have to do with stratagems. I haven't played 3.0 yet for obvious reasons but I have played 2.0 and I didn't have any of those issues. The game actually plays a lot faster when you don't need to constantly reference shit like in 10th. Everything works off of the same core instead of modern GW design being a giant pile of exceptions on top of a tiny core.
