>TQ
Heโs a glup shitto but I like manfred von cuntstain. Heโs a good villain, anyone who hates him canโt appreciate villains.
What's the Warhammer Fantasy/TOW equivalent?
>>96172425This fucking thing
>>96172331>>96172380Yes but what I mean is that there's no reason for me to make a bigger unit with more than one rank since the second rank cannot fight the turn that matters which is when they charge and get the buff
>>96172477It's a thing anon, not every stat is about min maxing like an autist. Some exist for consistency. Spear rule is fight in extra rank. Elf have spear. Elf have horse. Horse Elf with spear fight in 2 ranks. Be happy we got cav spears instead of infantry spears.
>This confounds the 40k/AoS players
>>96172444This model was the beginning of the end
>>96172613Why anyone would play this slop when better options exist? Not really, none of you are actually playing, just TWW fags larping with stolen pictures.
>>96172654Perry, you gotta take time off the constant raging to rethink your strategy. Its all real pics but yours, including the stolen valor ones you've tried to pass off. Just fuck off for a while and come back with fresh bait.
>>96172444What the hell is that
>>96172640beginning? that's like mid 8th ed. well in to the end of the end. pretty sure our local WHFB had dissolved completely by that point, from a peak of about 30 at the end of 6th.
>>96172838I could have swore it was from 7th.
>>96172613don't both of those games have rules for charging with cavalry spears
>>96172843High elves did get an update in 7th. when they got the dragon. but I don't remember that horseshit.
>>96172843Nah the retardbirb is an 8th edition addition. Or subtraction more aptly.
Maybe in thinking of the Empire Mechanical horse being in 7th. Another herald of the downward spiral.
>>96172425Steam tank. I donโt wanna hear it.
>>96172990The mechanical horse was KINO. A lot of the 7th edition MODELS were kino, the books were mostly bullshit, then Matt Ward wrote the Daemon army book and broke the game
>>9617286640K has a extremely dumbed down version.
>Weapons with [LANCE] in their profile are known as Lance weapons. Each time an attack is made with such a weapon, if the bearer made a Charge move this turn, add 1 to that attackโs Wound roll.
>>96173159whats the difference? both games have the unit doing more damage on the charge. seems pretty similar to me
>>96172394 (OP)I do not know if he is my favourite fantasy character but Karl Frans has always confused me. In his first Enemy within form he was a fuck up loser that was so scared of losing power for his dynasty that he made mutations legal just so he could put his mutant nephew ass on the empires biggest chair.
And in his tabletop incarnation he is supposed to be the bestest best human leader that has ever lived. To the point when Karl dies during the end times and is replaced by Sigmar him self it may as well have been a downgrade in terms of leadership.
And who even knows what they are doing with him nowadays in the roleplaying game? Something about he has been turning on a disposing his own nobility so as to keep all power for himself or something like that?
If nothing else the writers are always trying to keep him interesting.
>>96173195It's not my job to try and educate retards
>>96173195Is kind of just haphazardly thrown around 40K instead of actually representing cav with lance weapons.
The chaos knight robots can buy lance for their weapons despite those being a chain sword and a big ass fist. Picrel also have lance generically glued to it.
Itโs a generically good keyword units get or can staple to themselves
Just a heads up, this general is probably going to be dead for a while.
>>96173404Great, now do India next
>>96173412they pretty much did.
>>96173404Why even do this? Like honestly tf Oswald and his merry lads gonna do? Bitch and moan on their pedantic little island?
>>96173455Idk blame the right
>>96173404Fake news. /brit/ lives and marches on.
>>96173250so you dont actually understand or have a point. got it. just 40k bad-source: dudetrustme
>>96173254okay but like apart from lance being on some wonky or non lance weapons, what is actually wrong with the rule itself for representing the function of a lance? charge=moredamage seems to be whats going on and thats good enough
>>96173404The great Wall of Bongland
God I hope perrynigger is a brit
>>96173553The half assed nature of the word ends up being self defeating and arguably a little sloppy.
Itโs just ends up meaning +1 to wound on the charge so it ends up being a lazy way to give something a little more hitting power instead of anything actually meaningful.
The keyword shows up infrequently enough you can straight up forget it exist, but also gets slapped on really random shit. Straight up saying โ1+ to wound on the chargeโ somewhere in the profile would probably make more sense instead of a keyword you may never see paying regular games and then suddenly see it on something really stupid like on foot infantry or a space ship.
Even a different keyword like merciless charge or something would probably get the idea across better
>>96172394 (OP)Cathay bros can't stop winning!
>>96173754Skaven being in the dumpster is a relief because it means I can make whatever list I want without worrying if it will affect performance
>>96173754i really wonder what happens if you filter this only for cathaying lists with 0-1 sky lanterns
>>96173598I'm pretty sure he's either Canadian or French
>>96173754is there a decent hero hammer list they can go into? Without the lanterns?
>>96173754>make the new toys OP so consoomer WAACfags will have to buy them it's hilarious how those losers will fall for this marketing trick over, and over, and over, and over, until eternity
>>96173754This is a pretty comfy spreed when you consider this is tourney fag numbers. For casual play this really only means skaven and lizard men are left eating shit and Cathay will probably roll even with just taking what people think looks cool.
Everybody else is probably in for a good time against anyone else if both players are just going for fluff and rule of cool.
>>96173754Dont event want to imagine how shitty painted those cathay armies are.
>>96173949Yeah with before the Cathay drop, probably the best balance GW has ever had
in my local games cathay never wins, pretty sure its because no one has bought the stupid sky lantern lol
>>96173917>>96173925>>96173949>>96174090Here's someone who went 5-0-0 and won first place at a tournament using a Cathay army.
>>96173754I'd be interested to see the post FAQ numbers. This combines dragon edition and the post FAQ changes

>>96173949Take-rating: A potentially naive, yet ultimately wise take.
>>96173949yeah, in my LGS nobody cares about tournament lists. we also have pre-game talks about if we can bring dragons and level 4 mages (pre-FAQ).

This sunday for a 500 point event I have plopped my Champion on a Daemonic Mount. In reflection, while having 10 warriors with an aspiring champion is nice, 99.999% of the time, its the Knights who do the heavy lifting and putting my general with them seems fitting.
So I move from 10 warriors to 8 to put my AC on a big dawg.
>>96174335Well it did came from AoS, if it was like the old Wizard box, we'll have 2 bray-shamans with options and bits to choose from.
>>96173754Shocked at the wood elf results since all the results on bcp and new recruit have them getting blown out. Iโd there some other site people report results?
>>96174603I'm guessing it's due to competitve wood elves being much different than casual wood elves. Or how competitve wood elf players lean into the annoying as fuck parts of wood elves and the rest of us play a mix of shit.
-t. Wood elf shitter
>>96174609I just donโt see how wood elves win when fanatics exist
>>96174602>2 bray shamans But why? Iโd hope ones in a chariot at least.
>>96174602>Well it did came from AoSIt did not, it came out around the same time as the Ghorgon/Cygor for WHBF
>>96174613Beats me man, im getting cooked by magic missiles and flying monsters plus AoE warmachines on the regular so I'm clearly not the man who knows how wood elves are this top tier army.
From what I've seen competitve wood elves its spam glade riders a dragon and spend the entire game running around. Looks miserable to play as or vs
>>96174614Before TOW I got a start collecting and played 1 game of AoS and back onto the shelf it went. Then I got a good deal that included the new start collecting.
One should ride In a chariot that's a good idea. I'll Have.to find a 3rd party sculpt cause no way he's fitting in that old thing lol
>>96174614I thought of having a Greater bray-shaman and a regular one, but having one on foot and another ona chariot's even better! Too good an idea to actually happen.
>>96174626Ah, all right, thanks.
As a beastmen Chad that posts models frequently it's encouraging to see other Beastmen Chad's post models.

>>96174118What is it with brits having players having such gay names???
"Liam Jordan" sounds like his ancestors didn' have a job.
>>96174128Assembling and cleaning my first gorgon
>>96174862This inspires me a lot too, beastbro
I fucking love the Warhammer RPG.
>>96174862Just like in the Empire there are usually more beastmen than people
>>96174937I've got my in sprue waiting for me, once I've got my 6 minotaurs based (50mil squares back in stock WHEN?!?) and painted I'll be on it.
How's the kit?
>>96174870Sounds pretty normal to 99% of the world.
>>96174946But why do you love it?
I'd like some clarification on this item:
"The bearer of the Staff of Baduumm applies a +D3 modifier to the result of any Casting roll they make. However, if they roll a natural double 1 or double 6 when making a Casting roll, centre a 5" blast template over the bearer. Every model (friend or foe) whose base lies underneath the template risks being hit and suffering a single Strength 6 hit with an AP of -1. The staff is then destroyed and cannot be used again."
As I interpret this when I roll the extra +D3 it is treated as a literal D3 dice, i.e wielding the Staff worsens the miscat effect but doesn't increase the chance of it happening. Is that how you'd rule it?
I keep thinking about starting a pure Goblin army. That is, excluding Night Goblins. Just common Goblins. I just think they're such cute little rascals. But the idea of building a 2000 point army of them hurts my wallet.
>>96175025>>96175024 here
I run an army almost exclusively Goblins. There are ways to inflate the number of points. For example the only limiting factor to our shaman and bosses are the point limitation. You can make a large block of Goblins and stuff it with lots of big / war bosses who are armed to the teeth with every magical item you want thanks to how cheap they are. These act as a great force multiplier and help pad up the points value so you don't need to paint an extra 100 Goblins. However, you might still end up doing that because once you get going it's difficult to stop. I only need like 60 goblin infantry, but now I have nearly 200 and the number is slowly getting higher..

>>96174958The kit is excellent, 4 types of horns, quite a large variation of bracers and the ability to choose between blades on the wrists or brass knuckles. Well, and quite a few trinkets for decoration.
I think with the addition of more parts from other sets of beastmen or chaos warriors, as well as small conversions, you can achieve even more variety and assemble 2 gorgons and 2 saigors, which will be quite different from each other, especially if you paint them in different color schemes.
In terms of processing, two difficulties arose: it was difficult to seal the joints on the legs, especially on the inside of the legs, I had to carefully bend around the multiple vessels and veins that protruded there, it seems I still slightly filed some of them, I will have to restore them with paint. It was also very difficult to remove the moldlines from the hair on his back, although this is probably not a necessary step, they are not so visible there, but I just have a thing for this, I always remove as many moldlines as possible and cover up all the joints between the parts.

>>96175017Because in Warhammer, the knights are described as a big part of the Empire, with a lot of political power,, but that's all. They get some lore, you get some flavour option like "if they're blazing sun, they get magical attack, if they're from the inner circle, they get +1 strength but become Rare".
But with the Warhammer RPG, you can pick a single guy in your army and make him his own character, decide what knighthood order he belongs to, what weapons he's used to to, if he has a flair for politics or not, how patient he is with his squire and servants, if he's a philosopher or a practical man...
It's hard to explain properly, but I love the sense of scale that Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer RPG have, despite taking places in the same world. A soldier in Warhammer is just a 3 strength, 3 toughness, 4 weapon skill man with a sword and shield and some very short blurb about swordsmen being seen as romantic lovers and excellent fencers, but come the RPG and that same non-descript guy can be a rat catcher who decided to join the army after seeing his dog get stabbed by a giant manrat, and who surprisingly found out he was pretty good with a sword, and he might be on his way to become a Greatsword.
I love that the RPG is essentially "pick one of the mooks from your army, and make him the main character of his own story".
And I also love that, in Fantasy, a Knight is nothing to sneeze at. He's just a man in plate armor, in a setting where the only thing weaker than a man is a goblin or a skavenslave, but in the RPG, a knight is a killing machine carrying kilos of steel on his entire person, meaning unless you have specialized weapons, nothing you do will make a dent on him, and he's very very likely to kick your ass back to Morr.
I love that it makes the Empire soldiers feel actually threatening, instead of being just corpses that you throw at the enemy.

>>96175045Left ones for ghorgons, right ones for cygors
Gah, sorry if I focus on the knights, but I admit I do like them. They are such a big part of medieval life, but in Warhammer, the Imperial knights feel like they're only here for a participation trophy, compared to Brettonian knights or whatever cool monsters the other races ride.
>>96175048No fair enough anon
I was just wondering if it was fluff or crunch reasons, and you have explained yourself in great detail.
>>96173404I hate the UK government so much. I physically cannot describe how deep and bottomless my hatred for them runs.
My qt3.14 gf has expressed interest in starting a Chaos Warrior army. She's particularly into the "weird" and creative side of Chaos and wants to do a kitbashed mutation-heavy army, so that means lots of Spawn, Forsaken, Chosen, and probably at least one large monster like a Gigantic Spawn or Chimera. She also wants a Daemon Prince general over a Chaos Lord or Sorc Lord.
Chaosfags, I call upon you for aid. What kits would be best for these models, particularly Forsaken? Should I even bother trying to make a nu-DP fit on a 50x50, or just go 100x100? Any good non-GW Spawn fodder to be aware of?

>>96175097I'm always a sucker for games taking place in the same universe and following the same rules (kinda). I was more of a Warhammer 40000 player, but then Warhammer Total War and Warhammer Vermintides came out, and I fell in love with the whole idea of playing a halberdier in Vermintides (technically Vermintides 2, the first game had no halberd, and technically, it's a shorter poleaxe, but details), and then hopping on Total War and recruit 120 of them in a single go.
Then I tried the dwarfs and I really started to love their lore. I love that, from afar, they sound ridiculous, declaring grudges against mountains, being stubborn to the point of obsession and so on, but when you get into their lore and understand their point of view, even their hatred of modern technology makes sense.
Then, one day, out of curiosity, I checked out the Warhammer RPG, and I was blasted away.
The supplements add an insane, autistic amount of details to the armies, with a dozen different knight orders (the one with red armors and two swords is a blast), but the basic game isn't about great heroes or adventurers or anything cool like in DnD or FFXIV, it's literally just everyday people that end up in bad situation and have to use their normal skills to survive it.
Can't suddenly remember a pact with a fey or a demon, can't use the power of the Voice or anything like that, no. You are just used to bullshitting your customers, so time to do the same to that cultist who'd really like to sacrifice you. Remember your used cars bullshit, and use it to save your bacon.
Or remember the way you put your back in your hits from your mining days, and do the same, but to that goblin's head.
Oh, I fucking love the RPG.
The fluff fulfill my autism, and the crunch makes it sound so very fun because it's a tabletop game where you don't really want to fight. And it sounds like the antithesis to everything else I know.

>>96175097And also, I love that the RPG feels like an expansion of the larger battle game.
In the battle game, your swordsman get hit but an ungor spear, but succeeds the save roll, and lives.
In the RPG, you take a critical hit that hits an artery in your arm, but you use your resolve to grit your teeth, toughen it up, and stop the bleeding, keeping yourself standing despite the bloodloss. You're wounded and in a bad shape, but you can still fight.
fuck, sorry, I started ranting
simply put, i like the rpg, even if i barely play it

>>96175025I feel you anon. at this point I'd really only consider doing a pure gobbo (or other horde army) in warmaster. thousand times cheaper and easier to put together, looks like even more of a massive swarm and I can fit it in a tacklebox. happy to stick to small elite armies for 28mm.
I had a goblin army back in 6th, and I don't think it ever got 100% painted. just too much shit. too much to build, too much to paint, fucking nightmare to store and transport, too many fucking movement trays, all of it.

๐
>>96177589Thank you! Although that rocket was a spare part from the fabelzel set so I can't take credit. However it was all blocky and jagged and I cleaned it up, which is another really useful blender skill since a lot of models sometimes have rough edges or holes in them.
As for getting started, honestly when I first opened blender I couldn't even figure out how to rotate the camera. It just took lots of practice to figure out the main inputs and things to use it for. Luckily there are lots of tutorials on youtube, and they often record their keyboard and mouse inputs on the screen so you can see what they're doing. You can pick up loads of tips that way.
The reason I tried blender in the first place was to add a winged skull to some generic human space soldier helmets. I followed a tutorial that showed a really bad way to do it, gave up for a while, did some easier projects, then came back to it and found a much better way to do it, which I probably wouldn't have found back when I was a noob because blender is huge and I simply didn't know what keywords to search for.
Anyway my point is that you should pick a project you're passionate about, and start with simple stuff, maybe just take a guy holding a weapon, and take a weapon that someone else has made, cut the weapon off the guy's hand, and join the new one on. (Like picrel, I took an axe off a chorf and replaced it with a torch)
Vae Victis Minis has a range of modular "swords for hire", and they contain a bunch of spare weapons and open/closed/relaxed hands too, great for kitbashing. On my chorfs, the hand holding the rocket is from that pack, as is the torch in this pic (although I lengthened its staff, another blender trick)
Good things to learn that you'll use all the time: boolean union, boolean difference, scale, transform, rotate (and how to target axes like X, Y, Z when you're transforming scaling or rotating)
Then for more intermediate stuff, the channel Artisans of Vault is fantastic.

As for sculpting, I'm still a noob at that! I've tried a few times and it's difficult, but that's probably because I'm using blender and a mouse instead of a dedicated sculpting program and a tablet/pen. The best I've done is join some fly wings onto the back of a nurgle daemon prince, then sculpt some inflamed flesh around the joins to make it look more natural. Which is probably the easiest sculpting possible, since you're just adding lumps and bumps in the right places haha.
But blenders sculpting tools are still useful for smoothing joins or removing decorations off banners so that e.g. you can freehand your own once it's printed. And also for reposing minis - for example, I've made a snotling pump wagon crew by taking two regular snotlings and using the sculpting tools' pose brush to move their arms onto the handles of the pump so that one is on the downswing, and the other is midair in the upswing. It's very fun.
But as I say even something as simple as positioning a purity seal on a shoulder pad and then booleaning them together will teach you loads. I think it's very much worth learning because you can completely fill gaps in any of your favourite STL ranges just by kitbashing in blender. Or if you like the bodies from one creator and the heads from another, you can scale them appropriately and combine them, or even make ball and socket joints for them so you can point modular heads to your liking. Here's an ogre mercenary where I joined a head from one creator to the body of another, then scaled and added a mace from a different creator to his hand, then reposed his elbow at 90ยฐ so he's resting the mace on the ground, then smoothed the elbow and sleeve where it had been reposed and gone a bit jagged.
Any more questions just ask, otherwise just give it a go and have fun :)
Found out my only grey seer is actually an old metal plague monk champion
Is suicide the only way? Should I say he's a grey seer anyway?
>>96177589Oh lastly sorry, the rocket is not mine but after all this practice at doing other bits, I could definitely recreate it! Much easier to sculpt 'regular' shapes like cylinders, fins, triangles and so on. I've made brand new weapon handles and high elf shield icons and stuff from scratch. So if that's specifically the kind of stuff you wanted to do, that's possible too!
>>96177798No one's gonna be bothered.

>>96177919Cheers bud, I think it takes quite a bit of time to learn enough to get the program to do exactly what you want, but once you have the knowledge of how to do what you want, it's probably about the same amount of time as working with plasticard and green stuff relative to whatever project you were doing (but then you'd have to print the piece after).
And depending on what your other hobbies are, it could be useful for those too. I've made little replacement parts for my project car, custom paint racks to fit my specific paints and drawers, accessories for my 3d printer, household items to fit my needs and so on like a toothbrush holder and a phone stand. But alas I stray off topic!
>>96177910Lol and here's me thinking they look fairly new.

If you can do 3d prints, loads to choose from - Highlands miniatures eternal dynasties range is a nice complete TK range for example.

>>96178681No not really, just needed a reason for him to have unique metal weapons, and when looking up Ithilmar I read that it was often found among Norscans, and it felt much more plausible for a beastman to get that steel from a random Norscan raider than going all the way to Ulthuan and nick it from there.

>>96178489Out of curiosity, if your characters die in a battle, do you add it to their lore as a harsh wound they recovered or brush over it?
Lovely fluff and design mind, really captures the 6th ed feel. Beastmen need more love like this.
>>96178635imo the beginning of the shark-jumping was when the 7e vampire counts book came out and there was a cart that was pulled by zombies with a guy whipping them (as if that'd do anything to zombies) and its wooden chassis was made to look like a giant ribcage and I was supposed to believe this was a half-chariot half-creature that behaved like a monster and had an aura that gave freaking undead ASF. Then the big monstrous infantry ghouls-but-bigger that afaik have very little basis in any culture or folklore. It all felt like a departure from the grounded-in-folklore type rank and flank game it used to be. Then in 8e when every faction had to have a huge centerpiece, but also blocks of 80 troops because meta, it all felt a bit silly. Even to this day I don't think I've fielded any units that weren't in a 6th edition army book lol. I've recently printed a mangler squig and that'll probably be the first.
>>96178761>really big, really dumb models for WHFB... I would prefer to be slightly smallerTotally agree. One of the unexpected benefits of printing is that I can scale down the scans of ridiculously big models to suit my own tastes.

>>96178825Having painted glade riders and glade guard and wardancers, I think
>old is better for rank and file. Like what you posted looks like the avg wood elf and what you would expect. Cape some baubles and bows. Plasric guard just ...the bodies work but the cape and random leafs they look broke and cavemanish. Maybe for scouts its ok but it makes the avg elf lean waaaay to much into max treehugger. Glade riders....eh I'm mixed I agree the phantom of opera masks are shit but otherwise models are solid. If we had ranged and melee once more those poses for 6th ed way better. Oh and old warhawks I like more
However for elites, characters, new kicks. The eternal guard of 8th, wild riders, sisters, and 6th ed wardancers, orion, and ofc the tree stuff is pretty awesome. Oh and the waywatchers being full treehugger makes sense.
>>96178489This is really cool anon, well done
>>96178950Makes sense for Skaven but for a consistent character, I am unsure.
>>96178914>if your characters die in a battle, do you add it to their lore as a harsh wound they recoveredThat's what I had in mind, but often I would simply say he (or anyone else of note) routed and limped back to the forest to lick his wounds, and be ready to slay any up and comers who think they can slay him in his weakened state.
But for the regular bray shaman or wargor who for example got shot by a hochland longrifle round through his torso I would say he would be dead meat.
Of course if the narrative is good enough and the moment is epic things might change, it is a game after all and making a story around it should be just as fun as the game.

>>96178761>Arachnarok was a bit too much for me, as it was one the first of the really big, really dumb models for WHFB.I still don't get why they did a giant spider instead of a squiggoth monster

the aracnarok must have been his own personal pet project
>>96178972You have more options
You can also spin it that the dude who died wasn't actually him but some mook in similar armor while the dude crawled away.

How do I subtlty tell a buddy of mine at my store that I don't want to face his 'grail knights' (pic related). I get that this is all just toy soldiers, and Fantasy is goofy, but it's too much imo. I'll still play against him obviously, he's a cool dude and at least paints his fucking models unlike half my store, I just draw the line at this lmao.
>>96181094kek I think your buddies grails are dope
>>96181093I also love those but no it would be different
apparently there was a work in progress one at one point which was never finished
>>96181094Post your models
Just making sure, they said cathay would get their own generic lords that can turn into dragons like miao right?
>>96181094its sickening when people dont take warhammer seriously. Its high fucking art, all the goofy shit can be directed to AOS.
>>96180968>>96181093>>96181100I don't mind the end result, but I wonder what made them change the face + skull mask for an eyeless face plate.
>>96181098Never said they weren't. Like I said, solid painter and nice guy. Hung out with him and his wife multiple times.
>>96181108Sure. Here was my Ogres facing off against his TK from a few months back.
>>96181113There are two dragons from cathay who have no name or lore but they're still children of the dragon emperor and the moon empress, they're not generic. Unless you mean those two, there'a nothing else in cathay that fits what you're saying.
>>96181135OGRES. Holy shit anon that is beyond kino. You've made my week better unironically I didn't know anyone here played Ogres
>>96181113No, there are no generic dragons. All of them are named. The only generic dragon adjacent are the Shugengan.
>>96181123going by that reddit comment I found the face was simply not popular designwise so they added the mask and then it was reinterpreted by CA for total war
>>96181150>>96181140well that fucking sucks. I could have sworn I read something somewhere you could make your own dragon dude at some point. Ill probably still make my own dude, but its gonna be gay having to use miao as a template.
>>96181142Thanks man. Happy to post the Mournfang here when I'm done with em. You try out the Renegade ruels at your scene. The 1.5 update makes Ironfists into shields (like they should be) and gives Bulls and Ironguts the two buffs infantry got in the FAQ. Got a game this Sunday and I'll report back how they played.
>>96181135Base your already nicely painted models and I say you have every right to complain, well done sir.
>>96181123>>96181152It's interesting to see how the design goes from fleshy monster covered in armor to completely mechanical monstrosity. The reason seems pretty clear: the fleshy destroyer looked out of place when the fireborn were just animated iron, and all the other warmachines were purely mechanical. With the demonic asscannon shelvedk, an organic destroyer probably felt out of place.
>>96181094Dude sounds based.
>>96180638No it isn't lol, the only way to get a 40k army ~$400 is to take advantage of limited time bundles or buy second hand. Basically any army in TOW can be ~400 just by buying a battalion, a character bundle, and then one or two more boxes.
>>96181094what's the problem? wasn't most of brettonia inspired by monty python & the holy grail?

>>96178489You make me proud to be a part of this community. Kino.
probably gonna use the model on the left as a miao ying proxy, or maybe whatever that other water dragon is, any ideas on how to warhammer it up?
>>96181581Is there not a storm/lightning proxy you can use. Not great to represent the Storm Dragon with water imo
>>96181581>any ideas on how to warhammer it up?Skulls. Lots of skulls.
What are you using for the dragon?
>>96181649Hm. True. Maybe Iโll have to get the lady from this box set instead.
>>96181826Dungeons and lasers has an oriental dragon that Iโm probably gonna get if Iโm lazy about it. Itโs gonna be problematic if I keep falling onto that model when the other named shit drops though.
Do the symbols on their shields/drums/banners actually mean anything in Chinese, or is it just le ethnic scribblings?

>>96181100>but no it would be differentnot really, they modelled the total war version after both the forge world concepts and the maulerfiend
it would need a new head and a the arm blades, but otherwise it's practically the thing already
>>96182303maybe someone can still free the kdaii from within
>>96182359Honestly maybe the concept was just bad and only got made because FW wanted to sell a big model rather than actually having a cool idea for chorfs like the mortar or Cinderbreath.
>>96180758Chorfs are so hard to come into but you can completely ignore the hobgoblin aspect of the army. The same doesn't apply to Tomb Kings, you need the skellies, the chaff
So did the Lizardmen cause the giant earthquakes that destroyed their empire, or was it the Skaven's big tunneling machine that blew up? Or did their whole mountain holds get fucking up multiple times?
>>96182513let me bring back up an old post
I've brought it up in the past but the fuckup of the world edge mountains got very convoluted by the 8th edition:
the time of mad stars, as late sources would call it, refers to the combination of events that happened in -1500IC:
by this time almost one hundred years passed after the first rise of nagash and many more hundreds of years before his second rise and the ritual of undeath, yet his black pyramid had an eruption of power for reasons unknown (the one event of relevancy nearby would have been the rise of vampires with neferata's recreation of the elixir of undeath in -1520 or some of nagash's first heavy experiments with warpstone for construction purposes), anyway the eruption of magic from the pyramid altered the alignment of the planet with the stars above; the slann lord quex takes up the window of opportunity created by this new alignment to enact ritual that would fix better the position of certain continents and strengthen the wardings of the world, much to the opposition of some other slann which considered the decision too hasty (for a slann) given they couldn't account for all hidden chaotic variables, in fact despite the calculations there were things that couldn't be accounted for, which altered this otherwise painless ordeal: the tremors of the realignment caused a catastrophic malfunction in the great device built by the ratmen in skavenblight; the shockwaves of this explosion met with the waves of energy from nagashizzar and the tremors of the slann right under the world edge's mountains, resulting into an all too destructive mix.
the earthquakes that followed were the start of the age of woes, the end of the second golden age of dwarfkind, with many holds crippled by the earthquakes and the opening of new paths for greenskinned hordes which would become a greater threat for them due to this for centuries to come
>>96182525even if the dwarfs had to pay a heavy price for it, the slann that initially opposed lord quex got buried under rubbles in one of the earthquakes and the at the time unknown skaven went through a social crisis that would see the emergence of the council of thirteen and grey council, lord quex was nonetheless satisfied by the ritual: the continents were realigned according to the plaques and the warding was strengthened.
he ate a flower and went back to sleep.
also one of the earthquakes tore a hole into the great bastion of cathay, allowing a large chaos horde to pour through and invade.
on top of that we now know that the great wall of cathay is spiritually linked with the very life essence of the celestial dragon emperor, meaning that such a catastrophic damage must have been perceived as a near fatal blow to the dragon himself.
btw, lord quex did nothing wrong and we know he survived even into the age of sigmar, although now his temple ship has crashlanded in the realm of beast after a skaven attack, he's trying to recover from a pestilens plague with long rests on his potential deathbed, while his sauri without most direct slann guidance decided to go near-feral establishing an extremely warlike genocidal empire in the immediate surroundings, growing to be one of the main subfactions of the seraphon battletome.

>>96182086Ching chao bing lao
>>96182086It's just en engram.
>>96182086As far as I remember GW avoided actual chinese scripts in fear of getting it wrong one way or another.
The symbols on the shields are meant to mean something like "enduring", "eternal" because that's what the empire of cathay thinks of itself and its immortal rulers, and on a quick google search it seems like it's inspired by round symbols with a similar meaning of longevity and eternity, but I have absolutely no idea if it's accurate.
>>96178931>a cart that was pulled by zombies with a guy whipping themI'm not familiar with its rules, but that does sound pretty dumb. Corpse Cart *looks okay to me, at least. The whip is actually an optional part, there's also a long pike with human meat on it, and that's infinitely more fun.
Those monstrous ghouls were a much later addition to VC if I recall correctly. That was when GW had the obsession that every single plastic kit had to have two options to build as. So, while the primary option for that kit (winged vampire monsters) was okay-ish, the second option, the monstrous ghouls, shat the bed.

>>96182659what happens to the poop of shapeshifting dragons?
do they eat only a small amount of food in their human form so they poop only as much poop as a normal human would, or do they eat as much as a dragon would, meaning they would poop as much as a dragon would?
does the poop in their bodies transform with them to the appropriate equivalent size or do they need to expel all the poop in their bodies before they can turn from their dragon to their human form, to not explode due to the dragon poop now confined in their small human bowels?
if the poop tranforms thanks to the magic, does it mean that the poop remains transformed forever after being expelled or does it go from human poop to dragon poop after some time?
if they can eat just a small amount of human poop and the transform into dragons now with a dragon sized poop in them, and the poop doesn't transform back, does it mean they can produce a lot of fertilizer or guano for gunpowder with very little effort?
>>96182783I wonder if anyone ever asked such questions about Transformation of Kadon

8 Chaos Warriors with the Aspiring Champion on a mount leading 4 chaos knights?

>>96180118Still still here lads. Was it a nothingburger?
>>96182846WoC general here who has been brushing up on his tactics just today.
Depends on the wider context imo, what's the rest of your list? And what are the warriors and knights' battlefield roles? And are you playing undivided or monogod or what
>>96183216I am going Khorne marks on all of my units.
Rest of my list is 8 marauders with flails and two units of 5 hounds.
Context is Seige the tower 500 point limits.
General is an Aspiring Champion with Great Weapon.
Lizardmen are the last โgood guyโ faction to eventually be released for tow right? You think theyโll ever match the good guy factions to all the bad guys, both current, and legacy?
>>96183228Thanks, the context helps. Since your guys will be subject to frenzy, but there are a lot of VP on offer for controlling the tower at the end of the game, I'd want to minimise the chance of being baited off the tower. For that reason I'd take more warriors and put the champ in them, because their max charge range is less than the knights so in the event they did leave the tower, it's a shorter distance back onto it. That's just me though, I bet there's an equally good case to be made for going with more knights
How are things going with the new post-errata rules? Given both WoC and Empire have easy access to MR(2) champion items, and dwarfs global MR, I really wondered if people would stop running so many wizards competitively.
>>96183109Most of the new art for TOW has been pretty decent
Are badland ogres decent with the changes now? Or are they still bad?
>>96183253there's no roadmap at the moment and not even rumors about the legacy factions returning, only speculations
matching the factions as pairs of sworn enemies is tricky because the factions aren't evenly split, even tow has a gross asymmetry, and some lesser factions are the obvious nemesis of a faction that might have a way more central and prominent role in the setting
take kislev for example, their most direct antagonists are the chaos hordes of the north, but chaos is such an important faction that many would feel obligated to pair it with a similarly important faction, like the empire
and what about factions like demons and chaos dwarfs? are we counting them as their own thing or should we bundle them together with chaos? because it's not a given that they will remain a separate faction if they're reintroduced into the game, it's very possible they might return as units for specific armies of infamy for chaos warriors
if pairings were to be made, this is what could be suggested
>kislev vs warriors>empire vs vampires>dogs'o'war vs skaven>bretonnia vs tomb kings>high elves vs dark elves>wood elves vs beastmen>dwarfs vs greenskins>cathay vs ogres>lizardmen vs demons>nobody vs chaos dwarfs but you can see for yourself how some pairings are clunky, forced or obligated
>>96183365>>96183253Gee Dubya will release all the plastic crack eventually just for that extra 50 cents in their bank account. I expect my Br'Ogres soonโข
>>96183284Thanks man.
The seige the tower isn't the only scenario its just the army comp restrictions. I wager 50% of games will be it. Your logic is sound but damn the CW keep letting me down.
Added something extra to his base, a little homage to my friends empire army whom I have clashed with a few times.
>>96183477>CW keep letting me downany improvement on them since the FAQ infantry changes?
>>96183505>bloody cut limb>clean weaponsthis triggers me slightly, but I absolutely don't want to tell you to start covering your model in gore, especially because you have such a nice focus on the axes being made of the special shiny metal, it would be a waste
what I will instead tell you is to make a 1-base unit filler representing some kind of familiar with rags to clean the lord's weapons at any moment, to place somewhere in the unit
Wanting to kitbash some chaos dwarfs with big hats
As it happens, a bell shape turned upside down is a good basis for a hat - my only trouble is I'm having a hard time finding ones that would be a suitable size. The lower diameter of the bell (where I will cut horizontally) needs to be about 6 or 7mm across.
The closest I can see in size is the one from the nurgle plague drones kit but that's hard to come by and needs putty work to fix the sculpted corrosion
>>96183708>a bell shape turned upside down is a good basis for a hat[cries in Skaven]
