It's the same reason why you can sell Darth Vader toys to literal babies, it's not because the person understands his character and lore, it's because he's a cool guy in armour with a cool mask and a cool laser sword. Space marines are cool space soldiers with cool helmets and cool chainsaw swords. The lore exists for you to get more excited about something you were introduced to via art, or a video game, or models or whatever and already think are cool. I like some primaris models but here's my problems with them:

That is such an uninspired sculpt it drags down the quality of the entire faction by existing.
They were so determined to do a female priest they made it as bitch basic as possible. It's the kind of shit sculpt GW would have done 10+ years ago and they should have done better.
