>WE HAVE THE TERMINUS DECREE WE'RE AN IMPORTANT FACTION!!!
>custodes were fine with letting the dark eldar repair the golden throne
>didn't try to stop it until an inquisitor found out the deldar were going to clone the Emperor
The GK and Custodes are equally dumb
>>96221578 (OP)>tqThat archon with the two faced helmet.
>>96221594>GK and Custodes flinging shit over who is the better super special marine faction personally chosen by the Emperor Let them fight
>>96221596>the deldar were going to clone the EmperorSo what
How is this bad
Reminder that before his final confrontation with Horus, the Emperor cast his compassion and other good traits into the warp so that he could face Horus without hesitation.
The reason for his decree to the Grey Knights is so that the "Shard" of himself that is on the throne can continue it's solemn duty while the "Shard" that could actually lead humanity is able to be reborn.
This is why the Terminus decree is how it is, to protect that "noble shard" similar to how Janus was created from being forced to remeld with the parts of himself that are on the Throne which would make him whole and powerful enough to implode on himself and ascend to godhood which he wants to avoid.
This also ties in with Valdor/King in Yellows work and goals, he is trying to find this shard of the Emperor in the Warp and his genetic experimentation is to create a blank that can act as a body for this shard of the Emperor.
This is also how GW plan to bring the Emperor back to the setting without facing the issue of him being overpowered.
>>96221642dunno, ask /hhg/

>>96221475That's always going to be the case for Marines and Marine-adjacent armies though. At least GK's aren't still using something like 2010 sculpts where there's a huge difference between those and modern models, and you'd be surprised how well a consistent paint scheme binds kits of different times together. I was looking at the previous version of the Chaos Terminators a while ago and sure they look a little stiffer but they could stand next to each other no problem.

I think its pretty rare people collect both armies unless they have specifically a Ynnari army. And a box like this would never appeal to a Ynnari player. Also unlike Marines v Tyranids or even something like Harlequins v Deathwatch the matchup doesnt really have the narrative sauce and theres almost no group of 2 friends who would split the box.

Maybe Abaddon will appear with Vashtorr and do something.

@gork:
Outcome
The Grey Knights are formidable, but the Custodes and Sisters of Silence hold overwhelming advantages in the Imperial Palace:
Numerical Superiority: Custodesโ numbers dwarf the Grey Knights, allowing them to absorb losses and maintain pressure.
Anti-Psyker Synergy: Sisters of Silence neutralize the Grey Knightsโ primary advantage, leveling the playing field for Custodesโ superior combat prowess.
Defensive Terrain: The Palaceโs fortifications amplify Custodesโ effectiveness, making an attackerโs victory nearly impossible.
Morale and Loyalty: Both sides are incorruptible, but Custodesโ direct connection to the Emperor gives them unmatched resolve in defending His throne.
Conclusion: The Grey Knights could inflict significant casualties through precision strikes, but defeating the Custodes and Sisters of Silence in the Imperial Palace is highly improbable. The defendersโ numbers, synergy, and terrain mastery would overwhelm the attackers in a prolonged conflict. A pyrrhic victory might be possible with extreme sacrifice (e.g., near-total Grey Knight losses), but holding the Palace against reinforcements is unfeasible.

They don't care about the custodians, they don't care about the emperor, their role is to keep force feeding it psykers so the lighthouse stays on.

>>96222694The old starchild plotline was about a secret group of illuminati wanting to force the emperor's ascension by sacrificing his sons to him when the throne is about to fail, meanwhile the emperor struggles to remain seated on the throne as long as he possibly can to buy time for the starchild to awaken
In the old material these two goals aren't presented in opposition: the Illuminati want to awaken the starchild and want to force the emperor's ascension only at the moment the failure of the throne
BUT the emperor is not in any sort of communication with the illuminati and is practically a separate entity from the starchild, furthermore the sons of the emperor (vessels and heralds of the starchild's powers) wouldn't know that the Illuminati want to sacrifice them to push the rise of the sensei-emperor/starchild, plus in this old lore all illuminati undergo a ritual of demonic possession
I don't find it unlikely at all that gw may decide to split the goals:
have the Illuminati be a shadowy group of radical inquisitors (and potentially chaos puppets) who want to force the rise of the emperor as a new warp power (but not as the starchild), thinking this is the only compromise that ensures mankind's survival
while the emperor's own will remains to endure on the throne as long as possible until the starchild can finally rise up on his own, naturally, pure, separate from him, and in this narrative the grey knights would fight to prevent the rise of the emperor as the dark king and instead maintain the hope for the starchild's coming
the question is, would the custodes want the emperor to rise in this setup?

They will regularly kill one another just to get ahead.
>and apothecariesMost traitor legion geneseed is completely useless because all of it has mutated to such a degree due to Warp corruption and chaos god "gifts", that it makes all of the geneseed useless.
No point in keeping apothecaries around then.
Chaos apothecaries do exist in small numbers in the fluff however, but they just use stolen loyalist geneseed to replace any losses.
There is a short story about a chaos apothecary going around on the battlefield collecting geneseed from his dead and not-so-dead warband members. When he gets to one corpse and extracts the geneseed gland, the thing mutates jaws and teeth and tries attacking him. The apothecary just shoots it with his pistol and grumbles on about how traitor legion geneseed is failing and becoming unusable.
Also, out of universe explanation:
GW wants to keep CSM and loyalist marines armies separate in both function and aesthetic.
Making apothecaries and scouts but spiky, is dumb and just clashes with the vision of how the army is.

A Blood Angel's allegorical illustration of the warring natures of the Blood. The Blood Angel with golden wings is an allegorical representation of their angelic nature. The Blood Angel with wings of shadow, pictured opposite his angelic semblance, raises a cup of blood to allegorically represent the Blood Angels' dark thirst for blood. The Terminus Decree is named such as not to describe a condition to be executed against the Emperor but the Grey Knights themselves. If the Emperor were to "break containment" from the Golden Throne it would be obvious that the Custodians would be right force to contain such a failure. Instead I believe, as revealed to me in my dreams, that the Emperor achieving release from the Golden Throne would instigate a final action of the Grey Knights. The 666th Chapter would undergo the "Terminus Decree" a ritualized self sacrifice of themselves for an act that only they are capable of and were originally designed for. The "Shaman" theory of the birth of the Emperor claims that in Humanity's early history the Emperor was born from the warp fusion of a collection of powerful souls consciously sacrificing themselves to reconstitute within the warp and birth into realspace the Emperor. My idea of the truth behind the Terminus Decree is that upon the Emperor absconding the Golden Throne the Grey Knights would perform this ritualized self sacrifice as a catalyst to reform the Emperor to return to the duty of stemming the empyerean from breaching realspace. Remember the Grey Knights were hand crafted from the Emperor's own genetic stock and are all warp attuned. The idea that they act as a real space reserve of the Emperor to "break incase of emergency" could hold true if the Shaman warp fusion theory holds merit.
tl;dr Emperor finally blinks and Chaos begins to spill into reality in a doomed future Grey Knights all an hero and their constitute Emperor genetics and warp presence reconstitute into Pure Shard Emperor/Starchild who mantles the Golden Throne yet again

>>96224274the book warboss has an avatar of khaine fighting three warbosses and coming out winning. there is a caveat in that it was made way easier because two of the warbosses end up sabotaging each other earlier on in the fight, and the avatar takes advantage with the blood axe warboss saying that they could have easily killed it if they fought together, but thatโs not to be necessarily believed because the entire book has the orks portrayed as unreliable narrators way overestimating their own competence, so iโll give it to the avatar just because he needs a W and no matter the circumstances surrounding it he objectively won the fight.

>>96224387tl;dr Malcador creates the Grey Knights for the Emperor after attempting to "save" a Thousand Sons loyalist marine (secretly using the "pure shard" of Magnus to create Janus who, in my opinion, was going to be an alternative to Magnus to occupy the Golden Throne. )
Janus is found wanting, to occupy the Golden Throne and as the """Primarch"""" of the Grey Knights, but the flesh change scoured gene seed he possesed is reserved as the foundational stock for the Blood Ravens. The Blood Ravens are established as a gift from the Emperor to Malcador in recognition of the establishment of the Grey Knights, with the Blood Ravens serving not only as the eternal extension of the Sigilite tradition that Malcador carried but forming the de facto chamber militant of the Ordo Hereticus during the time of the scouring acting as the Inquiitorial/mind wiped Astartes chapter designated as such by Malcador "the bureaucrat" to carry out Edicts of Obliteration and further prosecute the Sigilite's "Secret War" against Rogal Dorn. Eventually the Sisters of Battle are established as the Ordo Hereticus chamber militant the same years as when the Blood Ravens are released into the Imperium at large.

The Blood Ravens are a disposable, bureaucratic institution during the Scouring and up until m36 acting as an Inquisitorial cudgel to execute the ultimate bureaucratic maneuver the Edict of Obliteration. While the individual Blood Ravens carrying out these actions against Heretical Imperial elements and their fellow Astartes are consistently mind wiped by the Inquisition the chapter's "Secret Masters" of the Ordo Psykana are organizing and executing the operations without any acknowledgement of the details. These actions between m30-m36 are where the Blood Ravens acquire their vast Imperial connections, Inquisitorial seals, and a massive collection of "stolen"(seized) Astartes wargear. The Blood Ravens are the only true Inquisitorial asset with mentions of the the Red Hunters, Red Scorpions, Exorcists, and Minotaurs (SM+Custodian joint ops) all being "declassified" reports fit to publish of the Blood Ravens Inquisitorial actions.

They only "work" as one-off *psychic* weapons for which the form-factor of a primitive bow can at least be justified with collective subconscious instinctively understanding it as a threat, or the symbolism being integral to it working, or it being the manifestation of the user's intent or whatever.
>>96224865Take her dress off. Let her embrace the nature state of being an Eldar.
>>96224877Modern bows made with modern materials are insanely OP. They are shorter range and require tons of work to learn and use (you have to be yoked) but they can punch holes in cars and kevlar.
>>96224877counterpoint: they look cool
Since 30k space marines translate rather easily to 40k, I'm wondering how well does the auxilia translates to 40k using the guard codex?
>guys with lasguns are just guys with lasguns, easy
>mostly the same tanks with some legend sheets I hope?
>velatris guys with volkites and can count-as plasma gunners in regular squads, axe guys can probably be passed off as sergeants
>heavy flamer and rotor cannon guys are probably out tho?
>no heavy weapon squads or cavalry for the auxilia might be a problem in 40k
>>96224870I like dark reaper>russ grey>fenrisian grey

>>96224885If it can kill an elephant it can kill a chaos spawn.
>>96224769Firebats are closer to Agressors, though.
>>96224885An untrained peasant with 15 minute of training and even a conventional 21th century firearm can "punch holes in cars and kevlar" from a greater distance than a bow, can sustain a much, much higher rate of fire, can carry much, much more ammunition on the march and the weapon has much, much longer lifespan.

>>96224909okay, and the same could be said about fucking swords you retard and yet 90% of 40k units have some sort of sword or spear. the penetrative power of a sci bow can easily be explained to be far far above conventional firearms just like they are in real life.

>>96224928/yourdudes/. No contest
>>96224919I don't think you understand the argument.
Bows are useless because there already are guns, which are objectively better ranged weapons than bows for all practical applications.
40k has close combat weapons because there is a shitton of close combat. Orks and nids are horde armies that frequently overwhelm enemy positions with mass charges, having a ccw is a matter of survival.
In terms of ccw you are basically arguing for use of a combat knife when power fists are readily available.
>>96224928/mydudes/
yours are shit
PICTURE UNRELATED
>>96224928/mydudes/ (not /yourdudes/, specifically and literally /mydudes/) obviously
>>9622488930k looks serious and "real", 40k looks more cartoony and exaggerated. Like the 30k legions have more unique models- such as Salamander Firedrakes or Word Bearers Argel Tal, but it all looks like it wants you to take it completely at face value that this is a re-enactment of an old terrible conflict like Flames of War or Napoleon. Meanwhile 40k is like "look at these sloppity bobble farters, the death guard is litty af". Compare the elite looking Auxilia to the Krieg IG with their weird looking space horses.
>>96224956>a combat knife when power fists are readily available.Easier to make, easier to store, lighter, and many other benefits.

>>96224982Lorewise, no, HH has its place but the larger than life insanity of 40k is a central part of what makes it fun.
Gamewise the rules are ok I hear, but the faction and model variety is not. I'm not interested in endless marine mirror matches.
>>96224996>>96225004Gw would lose money on that so no not gonna happen.

why dont army of renown exist anymore?
>>96224699It's all head canon. Confirmed is Janus being cured of the flesh change by Malcador's use of the arcane machinery of the Imperial Palace on Tera by combining his broken body with the "Pure Shard" of Magnus the Red. It's my speculation that Malcador performed this action to create a potential candidate for a desperate last ditch effort to occupy the Golden Throne (which he later did himself).
Malcador connection is again head canon, though perhaps slightly more confirmed with the introduction of Kaspor (
>>96224481 ) and largely has to do with the storyline of Revuel Arvida, Thousand Sons loyalist who became the Grey Knight Janus, being the fulfillment of a prophetic claim regarding the Thousand Sons and a "Raven of Blood". The Blood Ravens descend from Janus is important because it works around ADB's claim that BLOOD RAVENS ARENT LOYALIST THOUSAND SONS!!!!!!11!! because Janus is a wholly separate being.
The Exorcists/Minotaurs/Red Hunters/Scorpions claims have a lot to do with the meta contextual real world manufacturing/IP process. Specifically the lore for the Exorcists and the Blood Ravens demon possession entirely overlapping. Red Hunters/Red Scorpions only require the smallest logical step to make that mind wiped Inquisitorial agent Astartes can be dressed up in whatever ceramite the Inquisition deems appropriate and if you're entertaining the idea you can make the logical conclusions to understand that there's no possible """hard evidence"""" to prove any of these chapters actually exist and aren't on paper codenames for the Inquisition. Again in the meta context of the Blood Ravens game production and time line of the Imperial Armor that came out featuring those chapters I believe that the IA Astartes were likely published as a "proofing" of potential Blood Ravens explanations/origins. Basically cutting off potential claims by being able to point to the Red Hunters or Minotaurs when you make a suggestion at the Blood Ravens origins.

>>96225170Also incase you didn't know the "Sigilites" were bloody magpies themselves hence the cultural significance of their "tradition" of cultivating relics.
>>96225188>>96225198"""""It's supposed to be a possibility, not a fact.""""" was the original hard claim as the demands of the corporate canon loremasters must necessarily defend the interests of the stock holders and make product as profitable as possible via hard deflection to protect the egos of adult plastic toy soldier enjoyers who would boycott the company if their very specific interpretation of things had the door shut on it.
More realistically though 40k being a young adult teaching tool for a bunch of different life skills including ""media literacy"" and being able to infer and craft your own theories from presented information is more of an important aspect to maintain then nailing down any one "definitive" answer. We'll err on the side of noble intent with protecting this process.
That being said in recent years there have been a bunch of developments on the Thousand Sons lore front that interact with previous Blood Ravens lore that paint the picture, at least in mind, which I've shared with you.
>>96225198>>96225188I agree that ADB has hard retconned BR being loyalist Tsons. I agree he is the head of lore for GW. I also know it is not JUST ADB that is responsible for that change.
However, they were clearly written to be Tsons and I enjoy it. So that's the world I live in.

>>96225053Traitor guard vs space marines
Was thinking of getting a BA captain, but the combat patrol is good value for collecting BA-specific models. Looking at the other chapters/first founding shattered legions, all of them are nice and thematic and kewl with bikes for White scars (plus their new captain) and techmarine for iron hands. And the space wolves one is nice too, so is black templars. All of them are nice EXCEPT FOR THE FUCKING DARK ANGELS WHY YHE FUCK DOES IT CONTAIN LITERALLY NO DA SPECIFIC OR THEMATIC MODELS WHAT THE HELL. WOULD IT KILL YOU TO THROW IN SOME INNER CIRCLE GUYS OR A JUDICIAR.
>>96221917First time doing imperium models, Might have went a bit overboard with the weathering and the bases are a bit boring. I'm still pretty happy with them though, they're going in the Ratling killteam.
