alternate commander gamemode idea
commander turbo
all exactly the same rules, there is no commander damage
when assigning attackers, each player can target "the flag" instead of another player. If a player deals 21 (negotiable) or more damage to the flag, they win the game
each other player can assign blockers to creatures attacking the flag. those players take turns assigning blockers in clockwise order

Still trying to figure out this insect deck... These are all the insects I could find worth using in my bulk. Most of my cards are Duskmourn, Aetherdrift, Final Fantasy, Dragonstorm, and Foundations because I started playing last year.
Any ideas of what else I can add to this deck to pad it out? Anything I should rip out because it'd be useless?
>>96225344 (OP)>What are you taking to FNM this week?I don't do draft.
>>96225344 (OP)>What are you taking to FNM this week?Either this or Xu-ifit. But I'm not sure I like either. I think the most fun way to assemble Legolas would be to run him in an enchantress shell. Drop cantripping one-mana enchantments on opponents' creatures while plinking others out of existence. Unfortunately I don't own the cards for that and I'm not sure I can be bothered to acquire them, even if they're relatively cheap. So instead he's a big pile of fight slop.
Bottom cards are maybeboard.

What the fuck? I haven't tried card smith, but is it equally as retarded as the other 2 in the OP?
Why is it important anymore for a commander to be Legendary? If for some reason the "lore" of commander requires that the commander is a PERSONAL representation of the deck, and the actual person that is fighting, then there should at least be a rule that the cards in the deck have to be justified for the character. Gerrad Capashen decks can't use any white Phyrexian cards: they're natural enemies.

Speaking of all white cards, what do we think of this? I want to put it in my mono white deck.
>>96225486The Greater Good is unsleeved. That's in the maybe board at the bottom for the exact reason you listed. >>96227625If you really want to get it, collude with another guy. Chances are high that other people have already done so.
>>96227663Almost any landfall deck not made by a child who puts 25 lands in his deck will be firmly in high 3. Necrobloom also enables some big bullshit on top of being a Field of the Dead.

>>96227697You either make your own team or get assigned one while you are there if you are solo, so it's already going to be heavily on the collusion

I could definitely see using this in Golbez though...
>>96228146Gravelord Nito would be based, but
>>96228186 is right, Uchbenbak should've been the big time skeleton man, or at least that 2 drop legend with the Descend 8/self-mill thing going for it as like a Sultai or Jund Skeleton lord.

>>96228256Demon and spider support too, really most the traditional fantasy monsters are present in souls games. All the color pairings are there too, unlike some UB which struggle to include colors like green naturally.

>>96228310>jund spider Quelaagman if only
>>96228186>>96228275Uchbenbaks problem is even if he was stronger he doesn't actually interact with skeletons. He's just a dimir graveyard commander that happens to have the skeleton type.
Nito is all about skeletons, and would have a more traditional 'lord' style effect for sure.
>>96228335I'm more saying that Uchbenbak came out in a set with some neat skeleton support and should have just been a skeleton guy, or at LEAST done something similar to Skeleton Crew where you make skellies when stuff leaves your graveyard. Dimir Skeletons isn't capturing the green aspect, but I'm sure they could've worked that in too. Maybe even gives all of your Skeletons Trample despite Skeletons being a resoundingly weak tribe so when you use anthems and such they can actually be threatening.
I guess what I mean to say is that the card itself is dookie and should've been designed to be for skeletons/graveyard instead of just a lame, not very good graveyard card.

FF newfag from last thread that got some cards from earlier sets from a buddy and am working on improving my deck.
I'm really debating on a handful of cards and was hoping to get a second opinion before I buy some of the more expensive things on my considering list.
Only one I'm 100% getting for sure on is swapping Wayta as my commander to buying Inigo (and the command tower from that lair) because ever since another anon mentioned him a few threads back I'm really wanting him too, otherwise all the stuff I have in deck currently are things I have access to, and everything, save for Avacyn, on my considering list are things I'd need to buy if I want to play them.
If anyone could give me a few suggestions on what to swap and why, I'd really appreciate it, fellas.

That said, if I could only run 5 equipment for my commander (pic related) it would be the following:
#1: Colossus Hammer - Gives me lethal
#2: Brotherhood Regalia - Gives me unblockable and some protection
#3: Lightning Greaves - Gives me haste and more protection
#4: Genji Glove - Gives me another swing I sorely need
#5: Batterskull - Keeping my commander from turning sideways gives me at least one blocker for "the really big thing" I might be missing on board; Lifelink puts me forward killing other players or their creatures, so I can face-tank for a turn cycle.
These of course are only my choices if I literally can't pick any others. There are a few other toys that are great for their specific scenarios and I have substantial redundancy (especially on haste sources).

>anyone who does play removal, counters, boardwipes etc. is instant archenemyis pretty consistent with my friend group, and said removal is almost always me because nobody else runs any unless it's stapled to a permanent they put in there for another reason, like Sheoldred.
Shitters REALLY hate having their boards/hands interacted with. Too many players think of Commander as a video game where you're supposed to slowly build up your board and then explode at the end and having any piece removed is brutal, as opposed to being a one off board game/rogue-like where you're supposed to remove pieces and sacrifice your own resources.
damn this art suuuuuuuuucks
>>96229769X is always 0 unless you have actually done something to change its value. You cascaded into a 1-drop, which is risk of large cascades.
Creatures are not opponents, players are.
"Whenever you attack" triggers only occur in the combat phase when you declare creatures as attackers
Artifacts and enchantments are permanents, as are lands.
Gargos decreases the final cost of Hydras by 4, so essentially you get X=4 on hydras for "free"
You can generally stack triggers however you like if they occur from the same event
>>96229793I admit as a newer guy I fucking hate having my hand fucked with or my shit stolen permanently. Everything else is pretty fair game to me since I like running interaction/being interacted with but those two things make me feel like I need to kill a nigga on sight
>>96229748If you ask me, that's the minority. But against certain players in my group I also quickly become the archenemy. Mostly cause I play boardwipes against creature based decks, so it's easy to get ahead. At least they don't really complain.
>>96229820Forced discard is pretty powerful disruption and if that is someone's deck they should be hard targeted, but too many people think their Birb getting bolted means the dude who did it is a mega threat that needs to be focused.
Honestly I'm considering just changing out my targeted removal for board wipes, since whenever I use one my friends always jump on my ass anyways.
>>96229769>If i cast Apex Devastator, which has a 10 cost, and i cascade a hydra card with X and 1 Green, how does it work? Does it come into play as if it had 10 cost in total? No, X will be 0
>When a card says "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to an opponent, it deals that much damage to each other opponent." , is it talking about the creature it's fighting, or the player whom i am against?Neither. The ability only counts combat damage done to a player and damages each other player.
> If a card says "when i attack, draw 1 card", does it trigger every time it fights another creature, or noly when i attack with it during my attack phase?Fighting is not attacking. Attacking is trigger during the "Declare attackers" step in the combat phase.
> Do artifacts and enchantments count as permanents?Yes. If it sticks around on the board it is a permanent.
>> If i have [[Gargos, Vicious Watcher]] , does that mean that every Hydra's X value is 4 cheaper?4 cheaper to cast. The printed value is still it's mana value.
> If i have Master Biomancer on the field, and a play a Hydra, will Biomancer trigger after i put the counters on the Hydra?Yes.
>>96229890Board wipes are always more efficient but usually sorcery speed unless you pay more.
Instant removal just has that 1 for 1 premium you need, its a balance. I usually want 2 board wipes in any deck just to stop a runnaway train of a game on command

>>96230113Harrow puts lands into play untapped so it's insanely good.
Both give: ramp, land in graveyard, two landfall triggers
>>96230025I really do hate this whole "ramp needs an upside because players feel bad if it's a late game pull and that means won't play it".
Yeah that's part of the deck building challenge. "Do I put in this card that would be awful to top deck on turn X but fantastic if I pulled it on Y or Z?"
If that's the attitude going forward they may as well staple an X cost to all creatures that puts counters and gives them a late game ability too because pulling a 1/1 vampire with lifelink is just as useless on turn 10 as pulling a rock is.
>>96230113You generally want to run those in decks that care about lands in the yard for whatever reason.
>>96230133correct, weenie dorks are unplayable
>>96230025I think its inevitable because power creep, but i really don't think they should be giving upside for 2 mana rocks. Mana rocks with upside should cost 3 mana or more.
>>96230113Roiling Regrowth lets you sac a tapped land for its cost, and as an instant you can do this at the end of your opponents turn to have 2 basics come into play untapped. It also fills up your graveyard with lands, which green now has a myriad of ways to exploit. Worst case scenario is you sit on 3 mana for a turn order and sac a land you used to pay for the cost to put two basics out just before your next turn. Harrow is slightly better since they don't come in tapped meaning you don't have to sit on mana. They're both good landfill/ramp cards that help thin your deck.

>>96229769you are kinda touristy, unfortunately.
if you ever cast a spell with X without paying it's mana cost, X is 0.
"when it deals combat damage to an opponent" not a creature, not a fight spell (target creature you control and target creature you don't control each deals damage equal to their power to each other), and combat damage only (it's declared as an attacker). so the player.
only when you attack during your attack phase, fight is not an attack.
everything that stays on the battlefield is a permanent.
gargos reduces costs by 4. when you cast a hydra, you declare a number for X, after that, gargos reduces the total cost. so yes.
note that biomancer's ability is biomancer's power, not the entering creature. anyway, he modifies how the creature enters, so if you cast a hydra for X, it will enter with (X+biomancer's power) +1/+1 counters on it.

>>96227625>>96227509Back from the 2headed giant event, it was fun.
Some people were playing with much stronger decks than I expected.
First pair were lovely, one of them was playing almost the exact same deck as me to the point where our first turn was the exact same land and creature play. Lost on turn 5 to mothman commander damage though.
Second pair were opposite ends of the autism spectrum to each other and were really nice to play with/against. Game was a bit closer
The last pair I played against legitimately seemed like awful people and I would not want to be in a room alone with either of them. One was arguing that Disruptor Flute's ability was permanent, even if it left the battlefield.
He then argued that Splinter Twin's tap ability activates if he attacks with his commander because that's tapping it.
It was like he lacked fundamental knowledge of the game.

>>96232390Any time he could have played eluge, he could have countered your fight effect or spot removal. Maybe he was a dumbass and it took until commander tax = 6 for him to realize it, but he was always going to.
>>96232415I was getting around counterspells with a triggered ability.
>>96232324Playing on someone else's turn is yucking their yum, anon. You'll have to wait until it's your turn to remove their- damn why did the combo deck win again?
Ureni the Unwritten is sooooooooo incredibly good. Getting it out with Miirym on the field, along with a copy of Miirym thanks to Deceptive Frostkite? Fuck me, I already have a handful of dragons on the board and now I just looked at the top 24 cards of my deck and threw fucking earthquake dragon, keiga the tide star, and hammerhead tyrant down for free (along with two extra fucking copies of each!) And because I'm playing Temur I already have them all set up for haste, so on attack I search for three more dragons and throw out Atarka World Render, Savage Ventmaw, and Broodcaller Scourge (along with TWO EXTRA COPIES OF EACH!) and now I'm just throwing permanent I have in my hand on the field for free cause Iโm sending six dragons with double strike at each player? Fuck me.
I'm not falling for Eluge propaganda, that commander sucks on ice
>>96232335Eluge is the worst card in bloomburrow. This general said so.
>>96232236Technically thereโs Tatsunari for enchantments but he at least still has green
>>96232335>sweaty eluge deckI still remember when some faggot here insisted it was terrible
Weird....
>>96230288Only since recently and I only managed to activate it once. One opponent had protection, so it was fucked. Otherwise it would've probably been really nice to bring him back from ~15 lands.
>>96232148Is terramorphic expanse a tutor?
How about green sun?
Squadron hawk?
Trinket mage?
