Got an oldfag question for 3e/3.5e, specially Lost and the Damned from the Eye of Terror codex and the Iron Warriors subfaction from the Chaos Space Marines codex.

The Arch-Heretic counts as a Chaos Lieutenant/Sorcerer, and they can take one of the Legion rules, ie Iron Warriors, Death Guard, World Eaters, Alpha Legion, etc. If my Arch-Heretic is part of Iron Warriors, does that mean I can, through their rules, get a Basilisk without having to take the Traitor unit tax for one as a Traitor Tank option in the LatD list? And also take a Vindicator for the LatD army with the same rule? And that I can also sacrifice two Fast Attack slots for an additional Heavy Weapon slot?

No. You can’t ally heavy support choices from the main codex.
Plus any legion-specific rules generally only apply to chaos space marine units taken from said legion, not the whole army. So I would interpret that as having to use the force organization chart from LatD codex which eliminates the possibility to exchange those slots.
Just take a squad of five traitors with a lascannon or heavy bolter+heavy stubber combo for 60 points and set them up with the free infiltrate as throwaway unit so you can take the traitor basilisk. You’re out of luck with the vindicator though.

The only thing the Grey Knights have that the Custodes don't is the literal genetic material of the Emperor as their basis. They are also seemingly entirely incorruptible to Chaos. Don't think of varnishing as a step, think of it as your save point for everything you've done on your model up to that point. It let's you experiment with any weird idea you may have for oils and if you hate it, that varnish makes it go back to a point where you can try anything else you want. You could even basecoat a model, varnish, do some oil experiments, and then wipe them totally away later and keep using that same model for more experiments. That's what makes oils so cool. You get to do all the fun back and forth blending but as soon as you get something you love, you can varnish it and move to your next oil step

On the game table there's no meaningful difference between fast painted army and very well painted army, with all the details.

For example look at this picture. My 20min-max painter army againts very well painted eldars. What you see? You see just termintators and dire avengers (and some other units). It doesn't mean at all how betailed are highlights on the lenses of his helmeted models. It doesn't matter how many shades of brown he used to paint their belts. We both just don't see it.

The CSM3.5 codex says that the legion specific rules apply to an Iron Warriors army and I would consider a LatD army to be a, well, LatD army, even if the arch heretic is an IW.
What I was thinking of is in that same FAQ where it says the legion specific rules apply to all units of allied Chaos Space Marines a few paragraphs later, so yeah abilities can be passed to other units but say an agitator can’t select a servo-arm.
But honestly if it makes sense to you, by all means run the list you want. If you get someone to play older editions they’ll for sure understand and homebrewing is fun anyways. I just don’t think it’s technically allowed by the rules as I would see the basilisk/vindicator as allied units since they are taken from the CSM codex (well from IG/SM if we’re pedantic).

Me and my friend have a campaign. We play probably once per 4 weeks.

The idea is that we begin the campaign with a random roster of 5 units. We rolled our warlord and battle line. And then rolled the rest of roster with no limits.

The trick is how we roll: i roll 3 random units and our opponent chooses the worst one. And we add it to our roster for the next game. And then i do the same to my buddy.

After the next game i roll again 3 random units and now i can choose the one i like the most.

That is, we do it in turns: One time - worst unit, another time - the one you like.

And yes, before we started, we banned some units that we hate. I banned AC/DC and anus of chaos. My friend banned ad mech airplanes, he hates them.
Currently we're at 9 units in army.

Next sunday our friend will join our campaign, he's playing sisters.

I want to ask you anon, is there a name for such type of campaign with random units, no power and slow army growing?

We call it "Pasta of Grief", but that's a long story.

Depends on the brand and the brush. Most use sable, which is a kind of weasel/ferret that's been farmed for their fur for a long time. I don't think smaller brushes use them but the larger brushes for like cleaning and livestock are made of boar bristles when they're naturally sourced.

The bolter's front sight is on the bottom of the gun for some reason. Bolters have pretty large front sights on them (I'm assuming this is more a limitation of modeling one at this small a scale and if they were a real weapon the sight wouldn't be so pronounced but you never know). IRL guns typically have a front and rear iron sight to line up so you can properly aim the weapon without a scope or attached sight. Somehow they managed to put the sight below the barrel of the gun - Lord only knows how since someone must be approving these sculpts before they hit production.

I dunno how to properly segway into this, but here's an M16 which has a pretty pronounced front iron sight. The rear sight is the entire carrying handle, it has a groove along it that lines up with the blade of the front sight.

This is incredibly misinformed if it's meant to include Poland. No one buys recasts and new LGS' are popping up like mushrooms after the rain. Hopefully they'll invent more special weapon rules for the next edition besides Sustained/Lethal Hits and Dev Wounds.

Rocket Launchers should have some special rule...Desu, more factions should have faction specific special weapon rules.

For example, in Kill Team sisters have unique special rule on their flamers, that burns target after they have been shot. That's nice.
