Reasking
>>96219260 since I didn't get an answer
Got an oldfag question for 3e/3.5e, specially Lost and the Damned from the Eye of Terror codex and the Iron Warriors subfaction from the Chaos Space Marines codex.
The Arch-Heretic counts as a Chaos Lieutenant/Sorcerer, and they can take one of the Legion rules, ie Iron Warriors, Death Guard, World Eaters, Alpha Legion, etc. If my Arch-Heretic is part of Iron Warriors, does that mean I can, through their rules, get a Basilisk without having to take the Traitor unit tax for one as a Traitor Tank option in the LatD list? And also take a Vindicator for the LatD army with the same rule? And that I can also sacrifice two Fast Attack slots for an additional Heavy Weapon slot?
>>96225443Take photos from farther away so more things are in focus.
Good work on the painting though.

I know I'm going against the grain here, but as a Grey Knight player, I love the reveal of the Terminus Decree. Why? Because if ONLY the Knights can fulfill it, then that means they were created, BY the Emperor, with the capacity to be able to defeat the Custodes. The guy who knows both factions the best, decided that one HAD to be able to defeat the other. And the one he believed would be the winner, is the Grey Knights, and all those gilded bannana-hat wearing cunts can line up to kiss the back of my ass. ||it also means they can, narratively speaking, defeats Emps himself if they have to, and He made them with that possibility in mind||

Plus any legion-specific rules generally only apply to chaos space marine units taken from said legion, not the whole army. So I would interpret that as having to use the force organization chart from LatD codex which eliminates the possibility to exchange those slots.
Just take a squad of five traitors with a lascannon or heavy bolter+heavy stubber combo for 60 points and set them up with the free infiltrate as throwaway unit so you can take the traitor basilisk. Youโre out of luck with the vindicator though.

>>96226152The usual whiners whine about this development even though it represents a turn back from the Noblebright direction the franchise has been going in for a while. the conflict is not between the grey knights and the emperor, but the grey knights and whoever will try to force the emperor's ascension
>>96226041>Or do you think Emps...forgot the Custodes, when he made the Knights and the Decree?I just think that GW put about their standard level of forward thinking into it, as per usual.
Imagine being the chapter master of the Grey Knights, the Imperium is on the brink of collapse, everything looks like it is completely lost, so you decide to go nuclear and have a wee look inside the Terminus Decree wooden box to see what words of wisdom the Emperor himself has put in there to save the day ... on to find out that Big E actually has a bit of a submissive kink and just wants you to come and put him back in his chair should he ever get up to stretch his legs, and nothing that is actually useful as to saving the Imperium from whatever crisis is affecting it.
>>96226159the second best painter in /40kg/ is a 1k sons player so you've got lofty standards to meet
>>96226198Well that is also another angle. If they cannot stop the Emps if he gets up then it is rational for the next Grand Master to interpret their orders as hunting down the factions trying to revive him, which in turn will be material for an Inquisition civil war.

>Plus any legion-specific rules generally only apply to chaos space marine units taken from said legionIncorrect, the LatD FAQ says that Legion bonuses still apply in the LatD army. It also says that they can take Legion-specific characters, as long as they are taken from that Legion, which suggests that your Arch-Heretic can take a legion and get/use the benefits from it.
It makes sense to me, and I'm 99% certain that I can, but it doesn't say explicitly and that's got the brainworms making me ask the question. I mean given that the Traitors can take Rhinos, that means that the Arch-Heretic and his Marine supporters took some vehicles (and gear, since LatD unit leaders have access to CSM wargear options) with them when they go 'solo' so to speak, which is why it make sense.

Basically instead of a bunch of early human Shamans ritualistically sacrificing themselves it would be a1000 of the Emperor's geneseed bred, psychically attuned Grey Knights fusing together at the moment of death to immediately birth a replacement to occupy the Golden Throne.

If the Emperor wanted to become a Chaos God, the only force that could stop him is the Grey Knights. They know too much about warp-fuckery, they can kill greater daemons, they have technology and tools that could go against the God-Emperor of Chaos.
If they spread around the galaxy they'll be a problem for a long time.
So instead, give them a mission that puts them all in one place, gives them an impossible task, and ensures they all die.
The GK against the 10k Custodes and the Sisters of Silence? It's a slaughter. And every Custodes who dies finds themself in the newly formed chaos realm of the Emperor himself, gifted powers of a living saint, the emperor's daemons, and sent back to realspace as a being even stronger than what was killed.
The GKs are eliminated, and the Custodes are told to go to Titan and get all the goodies the GKs left behind.
>>96226425Don't think of varnishing as a step, think of it as your save point for everything you've done on your model up to that point. It let's you experiment with any weird idea you may have for oils and if you hate it, that varnish makes it go back to a point where you can try anything else you want. You could even basecoat a model, varnish, do some oil experiments, and then wipe them totally away later and keep using that same model for more experiments. That's what makes oils so cool. You get to do all the fun back and forth blending but as soon as you get something you love, you can varnish it and move to your next oil step

Yes i do pretend that small details doesn't exist and don't paint the, and to be honest, when you play, i mean during the game you really don't see any details. You see only shapes of miniatures.
On the game table there's no meaningful difference between fast painted army and very well painted army, with all the details.
For example look at this picture. My 20min-max painter army againts very well painted eldars. What you see? You see just termintators and dire avengers (and some other units). It doesn't mean at all how betailed are highlights on the lenses of his helmeted models. It doesn't matter how many shades of brown he used to paint their belts. We both just don't see it.
Yes, he has that beautifully painted banner, which becomes a centerpiece of his army, that's nice, really nice. But having 1-2 centerpiece well painted models is okay, it doesn't take that much time comparing to the entire army. I also have models painted with the real effort.

Immune to chaos in general, no need to be organic to be a living organism anymore, and all their technology is basically magic by now, so, yeah.

Andromeda Galaxy is probably a grey goo scenario by now, disgiused as a regular galaxy, so, no, it's not a good thing, and there's a chance some of the code inside of that goo is corrupted by Tzeentchian innovation, so it's even worse
>other galaxies and planets of DAOT not discovered by current Imperium of Mankind could fare better though
Not really. Chaos is too infectious and infests like a cancer, plus there's the orks/krorks, if they get exposed to DAOT tier tech, they would become too powerful, and the Tyranids would just devour any and all immortal humans and add in a new immortality gene to the psychic hivemind database, only Necrons can win this fight
>just chuck a star at everything then!

Maybe a faction created after he went onto the Throne would make the difference, but you have to consider what Emps knew at the time he wrote it. Side note, this also means he meant for them to be able to overcome Primarchs trying to stop them as well, several were still around when Emps got on the chair.
Adding this to the lore is an objectively bad idea, it's stupid, as much as I love knowing that my favorite faction sits at the top, and they likely had no idea what the implications were when they wrote it, but unless and until they change it, that's just how it is. Due to necrons necrodermis technology, all damage sustained by combat, erosion, some random rocks, etc. can be "healed" back, using said grey goo. basically nanomachines. I wouldn't be surprised if their technology has reached a quantum state by now, since all known physics we currently "know" about, is effectively quantum physics, not just macroscopic or microscopic physics, we're just too gigantic to study quantum physics properly, and the expansion of space doesn't really help either.

What I was thinking of is in that same FAQ where it says the legion specific rules apply to all units of allied Chaos Space Marines a few paragraphs later, so yeah abilities can be passed to other units but say an agitator canโt select a servo-arm.
But honestly if it makes sense to you, by all means run the list you want. If you get someone to play older editions theyโll for sure understand and homebrewing is fun anyways. And no, this doesn't mean I'm suggesting they could square off against literally everyone else and win, I'm saying the Knights, by all possible logic, would have to be able to defeat or otherwise overcome all the forces that would be available to oppose them before they accomplish their mission. That doesn't mean they 100% could, I mean there has to be A CHANCE that they could. The nature of the Decree means it literally cannot be impossible for them to pull it off. A MASSIVE help for this is that they're based on Titan, they don't need to travel from another system, they're already right at hand. Me and my friend have a campaign. We play probably once per 4 weeks.
The idea is that we begin the campaign with a random roster of 5 units. We rolled our warlord and battle line. And then rolled the rest of roster with no limits.
The trick is how we roll: i roll 3 random units and our opponent chooses the worst one. And we add it to our roster for the next game. And then i do the same to my buddy.
After the next game i roll again 3 random units and now i can choose the one i like the most.
That is, we do it in turns: One time - worst unit, another time - the one you like.
And yes, before we started, we banned some units that we hate. I banned AC/DC and anus of chaos. My friend banned ad mech airplanes, he hates them.
Currently we're at 9 units in army.
Next sunday our friend will join our campaign, he's playing sisters.
I want to ask you anon, is there a name for such type of campaign with random units, no power and slow army growing?
We call it "Pasta of Grief", but that's a long story.

>>96226346Gdi why did the mods ban me and not the guy attacking me??? I literally did nothing but defend myself.
>>96227409The bolter's front sight is on the bottom of the gun for some reason. Bolters have pretty large front sights on them (I'm assuming this is more a limitation of modeling one at this small a scale and if they were a real weapon the sight wouldn't be so pronounced but you never know). IRL guns typically have a front and rear iron sight to line up so you can properly aim the weapon without a scope or attached sight. Somehow they managed to put the sight below the barrel of the gun - Lord only knows how since someone must be approving these sculpts before they hit production.
I dunno how to properly segway into this, but here's an M16 which has a pretty pronounced front iron sight. The rear sight is the entire carrying handle, it has a groove along it that lines up with the blade of the front sight.

>>96228582Sallyanon my beloved
>>96228607Honestly, Space Marine Battleforces with the new character models seem like a really obvious thing. Maybe Votann can get one too since theyโre having their second half of the army released.
>>96228679they usually do them to tie in with the past years releases though, so that is why Eldar and Guard are like, 100% happening.
>>96228668Gameplay frequency would likely be too much. Just have two separate polls one for main and another for secondary (option for N/A so people can answer even if they donโt have a secondary)
>>96228672AFAIK you can have as many options as you want, so you can just do all the maij chapters, and just add them up for yourself.
>>96228693sounds good, anon
>>96228583Most people buy everything all at once. There's a reason they try to release a whole faction's new releases all at the same time. Splitting the release in half just lose all the tie-ins sales from people who came for one and buy the other while they are there.
There should be more weapon special rules.
[Afterburn X] deals X mortal wounds and forces a battleshock during the next command phase. Found on heavy flamers and Sisters of battle
[Sundering X] reduces the Toughness of a vehicle or monster unit hit by X for a turn. Krak missles can soften targets up ahead of the real AT
[Cleave] acts as Blast for melee profiles
[Annihilator] can remove Feel No Pains and units killed by it cannot 'fight on death' or ressurect
[Cumbersome] weapons always Fight Last, even with charge bonus.
When a [Haywire] weapon critcally wounds, one unit crit one or more times has a weapon profile disabled
I wonder if it'd be feasible to play a custom mission on a table with a marble run incorporated into the terrain. Objectives would revolve around capturing and transporting marbles... I'll have to try it when I'm able to host again.

I used reserves to shoot him off Primary even if it meant losing that unit, and essentially gave up half the board to him. I had my bulkiest and thickest Heavy Ints hold the middle, I sprinted some Bladeguard up to contest his home objective, and fought over my home with inceptors, intercessors and scouts. He got one side and the other was sat on by a solo captain.
