Well I mean, I'm gonna mix the attitudes and aesthetics of all three, not take all parts of those things. Phoenix Wright is a lawyer, but he doesn't really fight or persecute criminals, so this guy is a lawyer as his day job, but he has power armour. He's got the fervour of Judge Dredd, but he's a lot more centered on the law as written and doing things by the book. I mean it could also be a police guy but that's a bit more typical, there's several police builds

Day jobs are actually pretty loose and represents how you're fighting back when you're not in luminary form. You don't need to take an enforcer day job if you just want to use contract magic. It would be incredibly unlikely for the police to employ luminaries as the ones in power who have control over all aspects of the city are fighting against luminaries to begin with. I'm pretty sure you can choose to be a luminary. The actual recruitment process is pretty up in the air.

It's not "just" a job, because that would be diminishing its importance. But it is a job. With set hours, tasks, expectations, and payment that's simultaneously never enough and worth nothing in the grand scheme of things.
There is seemingly no end to it. No final mission, no happy epilogue. Everyone just dies or retires before they can die, leaving the next batch of workers to pick up their old shifts.

Yes, but not in a positive way. Protecting the world is a zero sum game. You want to shield humanity and end up facing other humans at the helm of everything. You want to help Light win against Dark, but not too much, lest it wipes your species off the planet out of righteous anger.
So you end up helping the Dark too. You're not doing anything bad. The ritual's already busted. The corpos already sacrificed those people. You're just putting their materials to use for a better cause. With this power, you can stop the next one before it gets to this point.

Coworkers that must be tolerated. That is not to say that all of them can only be tolerated. It could be wagered most of them can even be befriended. However, more time for socializing means less time for work, less time for work means idling, and idling makes the mind wander to dark places. It's best to keep a respectable distance and offer advice when it's pertinent.
Except for that one person who's been there since the start. She's a friend. Or used to be. It's all up in the air. Meeting with her is pertinent. A reminder to the reason you keep clocking in. If she hasn't quit after all this time, you're not allowed to either.

It's a fight, The Fight. Day in, day out it's the relentless march against the Dark and their Evils. Both in a freshly ironed suit and in the Regalia, he's psychologically in the trenches. Gerard constantly searches for any advantage he can get, every tiny piece of info and every monster slain a mote of glimmering light to shine in the abyss that makes up his world.

He tries to make friends as much as he can, to have people that he can actually share his struggle with. Though he can be a bit overbearing to those not in the more "mundane" factions of the Luminaries not intimately involved in the struggle against the Darkness.

For Lotte, being a Luminary is an opportunity to do good, and a responsibility to uphold just like being part of the police force, though she was a luminary before she formally joined the police. She sees her powers as a way to extend her reach whenever possible, but she does appreciate the convenience her powers provide, but that's more of a secondary enjoyment than the main reason. Despite being chosen, she doesn't see herself as being particularly special, or above the common people. If anything, her being a luminary was her being lucky since she believes that anyone could be a luminary.

Her positive perspective colors all luminaries as being ideal champions of good. If it's a luminary she's never met before, she's going to assume they have the same outlook until proven otherwise. Similarly, some of the more jaded luminaries have simply lost sight of why they're luminaries and just need a bit of nudging to reawaken a similar level of optimism she has.

More just a chore if anything. Beating up monsters doesnt pay the bar bills. Killing demons doesn't impress the ladies who cannot see them. Things are slowing down at work, so I should be able to be more active again. I'll start working on an introduction writefag with Meliara and Kore (and some other builds, if anyone has a good interaction in mind). Will probably finish it later this week if things don't pick up again.

Some questions for Meliara anon if they're around:
She's a Student but also part of the Old Guard - is she a college student, a teacher, or something else in academia?
Does she live in her forest, or does she have a proper home/civilian life?
How does she act towards newer Luminaries? Friendly? Preach about Mother Nature? I'm trying to work out a first meeting and am leaning towards Meliara rescuing Kore from some corpo monsters, before helping her integrate into society (transfer into school, set her up with some housing, etc).

Any advice on how Meliara would act around others would be useful.

Kore is only on the side of the Light because her mentor is, and because she is somewhat anti-corpo. She would happily converse and deal with agents or spirits of Dark, provided no companion shes with gets hostile with them.

She's friendly with most Luminaries, but her personality and mannerisms are quick to put off the less tolerant. She works best with either the old guards that assume such eccentricities come with youth, or the fresh Luminaries that are naive and haven't experienced her worst aspects yet.

It usually takes a lot to make Leila truly dislike someone since she believes everyone has their place. Even if she truly can't approve, she prefers to view others as misguided and tries to get them back on the correct path. For Akira and Deborah, things are complicated because they don't comply with her desire for order and structure, but she's not exactly authoritarian in her worldview (yet) and she respects personal freedom. She wants to ensure people can thrive, not oppress them. I imagine she would still butt heads with Deborah on principal, but I don't think it would would personal for her. If anything, she might see Deborah role as balancing her out. Akira is more complicated as the chaos she introduces to the perfect system Leila desired could be viewed more as sabotage rather than anything useful, but disdain would still have to be earned.

Akira thinks the powers are hers by right and doesn't really distinguish between day job, luminary, and real life. Shes pretty much always in costume and always causing trouble. She takes her journalism very seriously and will nearly anything in pursuit of a story. Often invading privacy without a second thought.

Customers, and the source of the most exciting news when combined with corporations. She carefully balances articles that excite the corporations with articles that excite the luminarys - for every article that might reveal useful information about a luminarys secret identity she also releases an article about corporate secret plans. Leading to quite the dedicated fanbase both directly in the form of luminarys and subsecquently in the form of stolen issues by the corporations trying to learn about their enemy.

She's just as likely to work for or against other luminarys for whatever will be the most interesting and acts as a sort of information broker and black market for those who aren't above contacting her. She provides some unique services - Weapons you can never be disarmed of or caught with even while out of uniform being especially popular. Very creative uses of her powers.

Its the tool to enforce a better world and resist the Dark, but its really just another job. She works as a luminary and as an enforcer to improve the city bit by bit. She takes teaching the most serious because everyone deserves the best start they can have.

She looks after the younger ones and occasionally hangs out with the others. She rarely needs help herself on a mission but is often found helping others with difficult battles without expecting a reward or compensation.
