To answer my own TQ, it’s my C14 precon. While Titania doesn’t really work all too well as the commander, Freyalise and Ezuri are both serviceable enough that in precon game with friends it can still hold its own even against more recent precons which are obviously more powerful.

Funnily enough the only other one I have is a Purphoros one that does the same thing. Drop Goblins, burn table. I also really wish WotC would reconsider doing mono colour Commander decks or even a Game Night Free for All set with the C14 Commanders. Against one another they’re all pretty balanced but nowadays against other precons only the green and red ones seem to be able to keep up.

Really wish sometimes WotC would do the Pokemon thing of having normal versions of cards that are printed into the ground for actual players and then the super special versions for collectors. They kind of did it with FF uncommons but a lot of cards still cost way too much.

Having a problem in my playgroup and I thought maybe you fellow autists might be able to help me out. There's a guy in my group who is a lot better than the rest of us. If we play evenly matched power level decks, he almost never loses, and he still get more than his fair share of wins against out bracket four decks even if he's a on bracket two decks or precons. Our group has kind of "self corrected" and we keep hitting him with removal to prevent him from ever getting off the ground because it feels like if he ever gets to do anything, he snowballs out of control and wins the game. Even while we're doing that, he still manages to get more than his fair share of wins. It legitimately does not matter what deck he's playing, he does it even if we trade decks for the night. He expressed frustration with us tonight and said he's getting tired of always getting hit with all of the removal, but none of us really know what we're supposed to do because he keeps stomping us even while we're doing this. He said that part of the reason he gets wins is because we don't use our removal on things that matter and that we don't actually try to win the game by putting threats in decks or pushing for wins when we can. I feel like I'm always doing everything I can to win, and I have the second highest winrate behind him but it still feels like I only ever win because we're using all our resources against him and then I get lucky and he doesn't find a way out of it. I want to improve my winrate more but I also don't want him to be frustrated becasue I see his point, there's times where we use counter spells on his arcane signet but we'll let smothering tithes resolve on our boards because we're scared of him still.

Bit hard to judge without knowing what decks exactly they’re piloting, but I had this issue with a friend a decade ago who almost exclusively plays Orzhov decks. He would consistently get off life gain cards and kill the table with Aetherflux Resevoir. We complained about it and he asked why we don’t just use more removal in our decks. One friend and I got the hint and included more interaction and we could at least slow down or stop him, but he’d still sometimes power through us anyway. Ultimately, some people are just really intuitive at the game in terms of knowing when to do specific actions at the exact right moment. With my Sisay / Karametra deck I’m in that category when the former is run as the commander: even if my rocks / dorks are disrupted, I still have a chance to win the game on turns 5 to 8 (sometime 4 if I’m lucky).

He kept track on a note pad tonight and literally every single removal spell and counter spell was used on him tonight and he still won four out of our five games. I built a Hope deck that does life gain and mill, I played an upgraded Zurgo Stormraider precon, I played my Narset combo deck too. Lier disciple of the drowned. Double cantrips are massive value. Cards like mental note are ancestral recall. Double removal makes the deck incredibly interactive while shutting off your opponents counters give you a monopoly over the stack. Mesmeric orb is mass draw. One of the few mono blue decks that dosent push you into a faggy playstyle. Probably the only deck I have that's universally loved by everyone I've played it against.

I run dress down in case I don't have a pseudo counter and someone else has an answer just because the card pool for efficient non counterspell stack interaction is limited. Golbez sorta drifts between combo, drain, and combat as my backup strat. I fucking love Tidus because as long as I don't eat too much removal, it gets out of hand over and over. The guy who recommended Cloudfin Raptor and Botanical Brawler really made it stronger. Kimahri is actually one of my favorite creatures after what I've had him "steal" (Rakdos Mishra, Blightsteel, and Avacyn)

In your life gain to mill conversion deck, you have 4 life gain effects if you count the lifelink on your 2/2 commander. You have 8 cards that cause additional milling. Then you have three different two card combos that you can't tutor for and an alt win con for life gain that you probably can't even make happen because you don't have any life gain effects in your life gain deck. I don't understand how you could ever win with this deck beyond just drawing your two matching cards for a combo and letting it rip. You could change your commander to Kenrith and it would make your deck significantly stronger because you barely built around Hope at all.

The problem was the RC fucked with investard's money. Banning those problem cards was a great move for the format, a horrible move for scalpers and investards, who are a major source of MTG's income. Shelob is frankly one of the best examples of an UB that's fitting, it's artstyle does not stand out in a distracting way, it's colors creature type and effects complement other similar cards and it's effect is something fitting to spiders (turning enemy creatures into food)

With SM card being Spiders over Mutants, that’s just because WotC have lost nuance. Nothing surprising there given they lost it a long time ago. And while I disagree as red was at one point a colour with a selection of spider cards available to it or green ones that wanted red cards (Emeberweaver coming to mind), Shelob and some other LotR cards absolutely feel like they could be from an actual MtG plane. There are a LOT of solid options for casual play in Rakdos, honestly.

I have had fun with Kardur, Doomscourge because he becomes a permanent way to force opponents to attack each other with a critical mass of flickering, cloning, and reanimating him. Do keep in mind that he's bad against creature-light tables and you will also have to deal with a 1v1 against the guy with the scariest field if you care about first place.

Deadpool is a commander I see some former Kardur players switch to because the game plan is similar, but you are just stealing text boxes instead. Not my cup of tea, but it seems some people really like it.

As for some more solid commanders, Valgavoth is solid and can draw a lot of cards, but I find him overplayed and I don't like keeping track of all the triggers to trigger him on each players' turn. Kuja is very solid because he eventually gets you three guttersnipes all by himself, which means a simple draw spell will deal 6 damage to each opponent.

It's a deep well. Nothing wrong with the other two you mentioned, but they might have some more consistency issues. If you have specific preferences, there is probably a more tailored commander for you.

If your pod is scary enough, Zur the Enchanter may work. Unstoppable Plan plus Stasis is fully tutorable by Zur and you're probably running rocks that tap for blue. Though, you will want to make the deck quite midrange because otherwise Zur will have a huge target for removal and theft. You can also consider schenanigans with Death Cloud in creature heavy metas since Zur tends to be artifact-heavy.

Tymna Kraum would be a very funny option for stax, if you could make it work. The idea is that people will think it's blue farm and be surprised when you geddon the table. Having card draw in the commanders will help smooth out rougher games and they will often be less appealing to target.

Dargo Tymna is like Tymna Kraum except you have a better option for voltron kills once you lock out a table.

Derevi is a former stax classic for cEDH. Much less viable in the strongest cEDH pods today, and instead of using Geddon, you use a prison style strategy where you tax out and tap down opponents with cards like Winter Orb and Thalia.

Take this all with a grain of salt since I've not personally played some of these options. Happy brewing.

No idea. I've thought the same before. I mean one big picture is still one thing on the dice so it easier reads as one. I usually only use dice with little logos or pictures on a side as tracking dice for things like initiative and wouldn't for counters or quantities for that reason.

There isnt an answer outside of the few cards that say "you have hexproof/shroud" as long as your opponents are also only playing targeted grave hate. I suppose shuffling your graveyard back in of course which is good but also kinda defeats the purpose of the graveyard deck and sets you back to the stone age, albeit that is better than being obliterated.
