I did attempt a Scottishverse marathon. My general outline was starting from "Small Town Hero" and leaving the real crazy stuff like Guardian Vs Forces of Darkness till the end. However it was really difficult to map out the continuity of cyoas, and I didn't set in ground rules so the build ended being bloated shopping list. If I was to attempt doing another, I would limit the amount of perks and items to a single one each in every cyoa. And for the companions, only three can be chosen to come along with you. The rest can only exist within the bounds of their own cyoa.

The Concept of Cultivation has so much potential beyond chinkslop, especially in the cyoa medium. Things like Heavenly Kitchen Realm, Lord of the Mysteries and Reverend Insanity perfectly demonstrates how anything can be cultivation and not just invisible mystical energy and boring meditation. It just needs a creative mind and solid grasp of genre's foundations to make something incredibly kino.

It depends on what you're expecting out of a CYOA, I think.
For example I prefer scenario-heavy OCs - needing to parse through pastebins to craft powers like in Seinaru Magcraft Girls or pic related would bore me, while finding combinaisons between existing powers would do the opposite.
At the end of the day I don't really think we can gauge how good a CYOA is overall based on our personal brand of autism, even if popularity is probably not fitting either.

I made a couple of CYOAs meant for this question. Essentially, even the most basic tools work. I made a whole CYOA in MSpaint, and later a second that started in MSpaint then got touched up in . . . I think it was Gimp. Point was to show you didn't need paid tools, you could work with anything.

Mind you my MSpaint drawings weren't good, but, point being, even if you don't want to hunt down images . . . it's possible. Anything is, and with oddly little. Probably moreso if you aren't teaching yourself to draw from scratch.

In my head I want it to be less linear than other attempts at this have been, but I don't think I could do too much without bloating the image.

Right now, an example of what I have is for the Naval option. Essentially you find out that the Navy keeps an island operation secret from the Cult, ruled by a royal heir. It acts as a stop off between Pahl Edin and distant lands and islands, but also acts as a place the royals believe they can escape to if they fail to maintain their position in the city and the cult ever takes full control of the city from them.

So that's one of the Naval options, is getting stationed on that island. But, if you are associated with the cult in Year 1 you can rat out the Navy for a different reward as you've seen in other options prior.

The only thing I can think of is dedicating an entire page to each of the different routes. So 1 page for the military route, 1 page for the cult route, 1 page for the Baraqu route, etc...
This way you'll have ample room for each one without it diminishing other's spot in the cyoa.
