It's okay, just do it more next time and go slower. Also rinse your brush more often, a lot of beginners attribute unwanted texture on their models to their paint not being thin enough, but a lot of times people just paint for too long with the same paint on their brush.

when you're starting out always test your paint on the back of your hand before touching to your model, you should be able to see your skin's texture clearly through the paint
and remember to give your paint coats time to dry, another beginner mistake is touching a brush to a layer that hasn't fully cured and tearing the paint and getting an ugly texture as a result

Look up videos on how to magnetize and remember they can be made stronger with additional magnets.
I think any knight is fine because you cover weaknesses with them in the CSM codex. The titans options depends on your armies weaknesses. It has a high angle of attack so it's almost like indirect fire when hitting over terrain. That's a titans strength, and weakness. Great for your deep strikers to hit their home objective when this titan slams down on their home dudes.

/mydudes/ Black Templars lean heavily on the "medieval knights on a ballad" theme.
They write a lot of scriptures, each writes their own exploits and tales in ballads and songs, they joust, have tourneys etc. They have tapestries as banners.
Each have their own personal crest, some are a mix of crests from their mentors, marshalls and chaplains etc, some are new.
Their armors are heavily colorised and customised with emblems. They look almost garish and pomp, like knights of old.
GW could make Black Templars more unique if they lean more on the knights aspect, but now they're just another ultra pious psycho like most of them imperium.
Mine are still pious psychos, but at least they're not monotone at it.
Tactical marines are cooler than primaris.
>140pts for 2 gnarly guns, fist sergeant with special pistol
Frag Missile+Flamer+Storm Bolter Serg+Firestorm(inside12"+1Str) is 18bolter+D6+D6&Blast(bs4+) = 25+ average shots at +1str(all str5's without heavy intercessors AP).
If Intercessors (+20pts) needs to move and shoot, their shots are also BS3+. If you use Rhinos then the points are skewed, but the Tacticals will get that 12" rapid fire more often.
Different strokes for different folks but I bet Tacticals being cheaper with triple anti vehicle guns (Multi melta+meltagun+grav pistol) makes them more flexible.
Thank Firestorm Assault Force detachment to keep them in the game.

Inside 12" where the flamer+blast frag and storm bolter become str5, with the intent on charging 20 wounds+power fist into the target with 140pts of marines. Unless they advanced, prepping for an overwatch.(2 flamers perhaps is best at that point)
40shot intercessors have two problems. Overkill, and splitting fire problems. Often you needed just 30 or 20 shots. Their role demands them to stand still and be a firing platform at range. If you want to move closer however, the 140pt marines do this better. That's my point.

A devistator squad gives you 4 Multimeltas, and a Fist+Pistol on Sergeant at 200 points.
A Tactical Squad gives you 1 Multimelta, 1 Meltagun, and Fist+Pistol on Sergeant at 140 points.
60 points for 2 weapon losses, roughly. If you're going to be aggressive with a unit intending to get close then would you do that with Intercessors or a Tactical Squad?
Imagine this. You like assault Intercessors, get all the plasma pistol upgrades and such, except you end up facing a tank heavy army. Bum deal. You plan on Tacticals to rush them, sparing the 20 points elsewhere you could use in this tight-list edition. With minimal loss in damage, anti tank value and less melee, but more ranged damage and anti vehicle potential.
You do not want to shove your intercessors into the midboard if you can help it. Shove the cheaper units into that role. I was comparing the anti infantry role to intercessors as an example of where they'd be.
Str5 bolter shots, 2 flamers(or flamer+missile fragging) with the intent on being close, charging or overwatching the following turn.
Give them meltas and even split the unit to be a dick with grenades strategem and you have a bigger role to play.

Abominants are good for rolling up the field and vibe-checking enemy units.
Rampagers are the embodiment of what every CK player wants Chaos Knights to be. Nothing survives its charge.
Desecrators are your AT choice, because most of what you're going to be fighting will out-range your other knights.
Ruinators are bad. Not really worth it when you could use a despoiler.
Despoilers are platforms that allow you to fit two of the same weapon type on a Knight chasis. Two gatling cannons give you 36 shots. Very scary.
Tyrants are used for fighting against deepstrikes and generally just shitting out damage at range. Niche pick for most things.
Acastus knights are cool but stupid expensive and not very effective.
>Which / what should I build?
Ruinator gives you four different loadouts.
The Magnet Baron also sells a kit that allows you to magnetize the kits without needing to cut anything, look into it.

When the Imperial tithe comes the pilots who shuttled cargo around become valkyrie pilots and the stevedores become air assault troops. The guard units from this planet are supplied with state of the art equipment from the armories and sent to the front. What are the chances of a Adeptus Custodes update anytime soon? Resin into plastic (tank, dread, jump pack, maybe a named hero, aquilon termies), an expansion to Sisters of Silence and an upgrade sprue with various heads, weapons and flavor accessories?
Custodes seem very neglected and their recent hero was... a squat?!

The Black Templar RepEx is much better. The normal Space Marine RepEx essentially doesn't have a special rule most of the time and most guns are AP0 so it only really shines during big storm of fire bombs
7 capacity is good for exactly BGV, but then you have nearly 500 points in a single model that, while T12, has a 3+ and no invuln making it surprisingly fragile.
BT get a Multimelta, Swordbros to put inside it and an actually good special rule

Yeah most Marine lists that win (44% winrate btw) tend to have a few utility infantry ( JPI, Ints, Infiltrators, scouts) then fill the rest of the army with Ultramarine characters and the best tank. Normally Vindicators, Ballistus and sometimes stormspeeders.
A lot of Space Marine datasheets are sadly just terrible and match poorly into the rest of the game.

Also, no. GW has made it explicitly clear that HH and 40K kits are to be seperate. New HH kits WILL NOT be appearing in 40k going forward.

Custodes are getting new stuff in HH, Sisters are """allegedly""" also getting new stuff but not for quite some time still.

Gravis is supposed to be their 'tough' armour but because it has no invuln it gets eaten alive by 'anti elite' guns. There are so many high strength D6+3 Blast Damage 3 guns in the game that it renders Gravis armour a complete non-starter.
Wolfguard, Scarab Occult get -1 to be wounded, DWK get anti-everything and-1 damage (on top of 4 wounds), I don't think I even have to go in to Deathshroud.

That's how they worked in the past.
GW is slowly separating all cross-system kits because what sells where.
Custodes, lizardmen, knights, daemons and any others I've overlooked are long term, but will either get their own specific kits or be squatted from one system or another.
We will eventually see 40k and 30k bananas, and 40k will get to keep the current range in the interim, but they won't get anything new from HH.

Female Custodes actually make sense in the long run as Custodes were supposed to be the New Humanity. The apex and dream of what we could be. Free from the Warp and superior to everyone around. It makes sense that The Emperor would want them to breed with each other. Sisters of Silence are a mutation. A loyal and useful mutation but not something you want in the general genepool.
Space Marines like Thunder Warriors were always meant to be exterminated with select few Primarchs allowed to live out their days and help the New Humanity. Thats why Custodes hate Marines. They ruined everything and were supposed to be gone by now.

Female custodes were an obvious dipping of the toes on GW's part.
They wanted to judge just how much their customer base actually cares about this kind of representation (either in a positive, or in a negative direction), but in a small, controlled manner that doesn't risk hurting their golden goose - the marines.
It is clear from the way GW has continuously empowered vocal lefties at BL that they either are afraid to say no, or are fully in support of them. Femarines are only a question of time.

Slaanesh.
Even in the 80s it was a niche joke about sex, drugs(, drags) and rock & roll that they kept around because it was more entertaining for them than it was a weight on the company, but now it's not entertaining for them anymore, it predictably doesn't sell nearly enough as the other chaos stuff, and the company grew exponentially, is now publicly traded and attempting to break into normie spaces.
All things point to them being practically ready to ceremoniously kill slaanesh around the same time they were making other major sweeping changes to save the company from bankruptcy, but a change in ceo put on the brakes before the final greenlight.
And now it's dragged around because removing it would do more harm to the image of the company to the existing fanbase than it would improve the image of the company to newcomers, but it's easy to imagine that if they could go back to the time of its making, they would snip off slaanesh.
For a colder take: necrons and ctan lore was a poorly thought clusterfuck when they made it and remains a poorly thought clusterfuck over a decade after the big retcon of necrons lore.

All of humanity feeds chaos, not just psykers who have visible powers.
All humans in 40k, barring exceptions, are on the positive side of the psychic activity scale. Ie. All humans in 40k are technically low level psykers, and that psychic activity they have is their soul.
This is also why many humans due to random circumstances can unlock latent psychic powers in their life they are exposed to something or experience something.
It's also why Chaos is so keen on humanity and focused on it, humanity as a whole is a massive fuel source for Chaos.

You can't starve the chaos gods period, the emperor didn't have a solid plan to solve everything, it was simply acting on what he thought could help mankind the most, and killing all psykers of a race that is going to evolve into an all psychic species is not going to do it, but securing the webway to ease pressure on the need for psykers was going to buy time.

Do you think there is not a God-Emperor deity in the warp, regardless of whether or not it is the same man that was put on the Golden throne?
I skimmed through the 9th ed Dark Eldar codex but just realised there aren't any psykers in their range, nor there was an explanation to it. Do they stay away from the warp entirely because unlike their Craftworld kin their souls are not protected in spirit stones or is there an another explanation? I should read the Eldar codex next for fluff.

Deldar living by trading other peoples' suffering for staving off She Who Thirsts atrophied their psychic abilities. There are warehouses of pre-Fall eldar hyperweapons in Commorragh that deldar would love to use, but can't because they require the user to be psychic.
Also, Commorragh is within the Webway, the walls separating them from the raw stuff of Immaterium are pretty fucking thin and they don't want to risk a collapse, so powers that be always prohibited psykers from using their abilities within the city.

Something I noticed skimming 1D4chan (as it was) was that any new lore presented after fifth was always done with this mocking tone, as if everyone expected GW was gonna drop all of it (like they did eye of terror, presumably), and this is generally how the community treats any lore clarification now as well. This has me wondering, do people genuinely think 40k was gonna be a super static setting forever, like that every possible lore hook was gonna be left unexplored?

You should read the older codexes instead.
The expression of strong emotions and psychic powers attracts slaanesh which would snatch their soul even when they're still alive either gradually or in one terrific swoop, so where the craftworlds shield themselves from the attentions of slaanesh by following a monastic path system that structures and separates their emotions with zen-like shit and allows them to use psychic powers in a safe and controlled manner, the dark eldar prefer to forgo the use of their psychic nature and instead revel in their emotions, feeding off the souls of others to replenish what slaanesh slowly syphons away from them due to that.
And also with strong psychic shit there's the risk of breaches into the webway that would allow demons to come feast on them directly, so it's taboo and one of the few mostly outlawed things in commorragh.

This is wishful thinking at this point. GW is firmly left and has been pretty vocal about it. By making official statements ("warhammer is for everyone"), retconning the fluff to please the left (femstodes), and continually supporting inclusion of left ideas in their books (canon mtf trannies accepted by the imperium, nonbinary orks, eldar being a race of genderfluid trannies, neopronoun admech priests, etc.)
There may have been a time when you could dismiss it as lip service, but certainly not at this point.

>custodes are the new humanity
Nah, Custodes can't breed. That's why they need to make new ones using the same extremely expensive archeotech. If they could breed then they wouldn't be so expensive. The reason it makes sense is that Custodes usually come from noble parents, and some noble children are females. Custodes aren't exactly economical, they are the hyper engineered super project of the Imperium's gene editing technology. Comparing Custodes to marines is like comparing the SR71 blackbird to the F-14, one is made to be mass produced and the other is a hand crafted and built super weapon. So if there is any extra cost to ascending a female, it really wouldn't matter because the cost is irrelevant as the design is meant to be penultimate not mass producible.

the same thing that's chaotic about anything, the extreme and the sake
gods of war aren't inherently evil, the ability to fight is the ability to defend themselves or others for moral reasons, but khorne brings it to the extreme and wages war for war's sake
similarly and more easy to understand is that one can change for good reasons, while change for change's sake is sick and destructive and twisted
nurgle is a god of life, the cycle of nature is not a bad thing, death is a part of life and everything is good when all these parts are in harmony, but nurgle is an extreme and deformed version of that cycle where things rot and bear fruit, not in a cycle, but at the same time
the dark king seems to embody unity, leadership, a guiding figure, but where there can be a good moral king with a benevolent vision for its subjects, with chaos we would have an extreme of control, tyranny, slavery, conquest for the sake of conquest, a reversal of the role of the king's subjects from the reason why he rules, for their interests, for the mean through which he rules, just to accrue more power and control

Psykers are used within the titan, but they are just used bio-mechanical batteries to fuel the titan's psychic weapons like the psy-cannon.
The princeps controlling the psi-titans are nulls specifically because of how much psychic power the titan "generates", so to shield the pilot they need to be nulls so they are not affected by the psychic energies coursing through the titan.

I found it because I went really deep in the rabbit whole of trying to find out why ADB hates Blood Ravens being loyalist tsons so much and at the end of hours of research I found a series of deleted forum posts where he and an editor I've never heard of said the books were non canon and that blood ravens ARE something interesting, just not loyalist tsons. Which seemed like a huge cope because if you actually read the Dawn of War novels they are 100% loyalist tsons and its not even thinly veiled. I mean Ahriman is literally aiding the Ravens from the shadows at one point and has one in his warband.

I'm still hoping one day that this retarded internal division competition bullshit goes away, its really hurting the company and is exactly the type of boomertard bullshit that runs IPs into the ground. It's sad we will never get 30k admech rules in 40k.

If they're doing it I think it's because, ultimately, it's not costing them that much.
The people who are in 40k into a faction will splurge a few hundreds bucks into that faction regardless of whether the total number of kits for that faction is 3 or 13, the people who collect every kit for a faction are more limited than the ones who collect enough for one army and then move one, and the more games with different armies you have, the less likely they will be to buy one army to play multiple games instead of multiple armies.

You would think so, and you would be wrong. GW is run by a bunch of incompetent petulant children.
When a new miniature was being released, three different divisions (White Dwarf, Warhammer Community and webstore) hired three different photographers to take three different sets of that same mini on a white background instead of reusing a single set, purely because those divisions hate and don't want to help each other.

its selling by accident though, when you're given a budget its on the premise that it'll generate more sales.
This is why space marines cause more space marine releases, its a safe investment for GW.
If TOW slop is selling because of AOS, any release that isn't very good for AOS for one reason or another will be a big loss

It's not a matter of completionism. Take AdMech as it's the biggest offender because they don't even get legends rules. They made new plastic kits for a bunch of really cool 30k units that will always sell worse than if they were cross compatible simply because the playerbase of 30k is way smaller, and the playerbase of AdMech within that smaller still. They've essentially closed down 99% of the 40k AdMech playerbase from contributing to those sales in the hopes that... they all go and buy a completely new army for a game they don't play? It's retarded.
Take space marines, too. We know a big part of Leviathan dreadnought sales were for 40k players. Now that they can't be used outside of legends, do you think their sales have skyrocketed and brought a ton of players to 30k? Of course not, the sales plummeted because any customer that would have bought one but isn't interested in 30k won't buy one now. There's no way to spin this so that it doesn't cost them lots of sales.

But the admech playerbase of 40k will spend the same amount of money they would have on those cool robots, just on more of the existing 40k range for the admech, so gw won't really lose money as long as their customers buy to make armies.

They are born in turn, though they have all existed forever. Time has no meaning for them. The fall of the aeldari did not cause the birth of She Who Thirsts, merely her occurrence. So too with all other gods, be they foul entities of Chaos, or divine forces of sentient power.β
βShe Who Thirsts was born out of the death of an entire sentient culture,β says John.

Yes, it is, if you offer a hundred different dreadnoughts products, most people won't buy a hundred dreadnoughts, they will make a choice between that hundred, making some of them sell a lot and some not sell as much specifically because a better option exists.
Some products (and on a way larger scale, all products) step on each other's feet.

Name my chapter. Used the PD chapter generator and rolled up a contrarian SW successor that was founded to be Inquisitorial attack dogs. They're codex compliant and use librarians and they're also colossal assholes who enjoy purging entire populations at the inquisition's behest. They also happen to worship the Omnissiah and are buddies with the Mechanicus for some reason. Ideas for names so far is basic stuff like variants of Iron/Steel Hounds/Wolves or War Dogs. Generally keeping the canine them feels appropriate, like an Inquisitorial fuck you to the Space Wolves. Some reference to metal to reference the Omnissiah as well.

if everybody is trying to cheese for the equivalent of an hour of work then yeah sure, but i'd cut one plagueburst for another drone and blighthauler. or cute pbc, add drone and another unit of poxwalkers and give the boss an upgrade

Maybe revert the 2RP for the Purestrains back to 3RP because getting 75pts worth of models was a bit too good. According to Floof, the nerfs are a bit unwarranted because the reason why GSC does well in the tournaments is because everyone else just spams Knights or Deathguard of which the GSC is good against. Once they're nerfed into ground, less people would be playing them thus reduce GSC's high winrate.

Do you want to know how gw sees marines? They're a trap: the newcomer gets caught by them, loses himself into the sprawling range he has no hope of collecting in its entirety, and only then realises that marines are not good, either because the models pale in comparison to those of other ranges or because the rules aren't that good.
GW wants this dynamics and exacerbates it because they want newcomers to lose themselves in many of their ranges, not just one, the first one is just the immediate sunk cost.

Marines aren't weak but their range is so massive both in models and rules that if the average marine army was playable it would mean there are at least 5 or 6 different lists that are gamebreakingly overpowered. Instead they all get hit with the nerf bat so they're good when extremely optimized and shit the rest of the time.

>Phobos Marines
the entire Phobos Marine range is essentially a waste as they have no killing power and are meant as skirmishing objective holders. But they're too expensive for that, and Scouts have the best ruels in the game, so nobody uses them
>Gravis
Gravis is supremely expensive (6 Aggressors cost the same as 6 Necron Wraiths!).3W should in theory make them super bulky but big Damage 3 profiles are everywhere now. Many armies can shit out D6+3 blast damage 3 shots so they're just straight up non viable. Costed the same as Terminators but melt to big guns.
>Tacticus
Intercessors hold objectives well but the special squads lack firepower. Bladeguard are great, Hellblasters are okay, but mass damage 2 isn't worth building a 300+ super unit that constantly blows itself up. Desolators are kept shit, infernus marines are a joke.
>Firstborn
intentionally kept shit
>Terminators
Geuninely the worst in the game, neither of them have rules and the nerf to Thunderhammers makes even the Assault Terminator profile terrible. There are like 8 characters to attach to Terminators but neither squad does anything - even the BAD terminators
>Characters.
Great! Guilliman and Calgar are great which is why you can only ever run UM and nothing else
>Tanks
Most tanks fucking suck. The Preds/Vindis are a straight downgrade compared to Chaos due to the inability to access sust/Lethals, but they're still among the best options. The best Marine options are worse versions of a mid-tier army's units
>Primaris tanks
They're very, very specialized. A lancer is great, but a reaper is too matchup dependent to see use. The Repulsor and the RepEx have great firepower but struggle to access strats to boost themselves and BT does it better anyway
Basically every Marine range sucks or is a straight downgrade to another army that can take it with none of the downsides. 9000 datasheets, all bad.

I can personally attest that both the Kasrkin/Necron and Aquilons/Vespid boxes were instantly sold out and scalped to hell as fast or faster than some of the Space Marine Kill-Teams. Either guard players are just as rabid for their models or GW intentionally prints a lot more copies of everything with Space Marines in it.

marine vs stinky marine is the "40k starter set" to scion vs vespid "Leviathan Box"
Here's what i've just discovered.
Any 2000pts roster i'm trying to build costs in a 1150-1420 euro range, mostly within 1200-1300 euros.
I tried 2 space marins, 2 sob, 2 orks, 1 csm, 1 tyranid, 1 tau rosters.
Everything just fits into that range.
Go try it yourself, anon: create roster and them go to warhammer.com and add all the units to cart and see the total cost.
Idk, maybe Imperial Knights or Custodes may be cheaper, i didn't check. But it seems that we've found that real money cost of the model is a part of formula that determines it's ingame cost. it's hilarious.
And GW expects us to spend about 1200-1300 euro on a 2000pts army. That's what the show in their presentations for executives.
Shit, i'm going to buy 3d printer.
