Does anyone else think Jrpg Traitor would've been improved if there was a clearer sense of progression or scaling over the course of the cyoa?
Like, if you started out getting purely basic tokens from the rest of the heroes, then maybe a few advanced tokens from the overlord and the side quests, and then a bunch more advanced tokens from the Traitor's Journey events? You could imagine it as your character gaining his core skills during the initial adventures picking up the rest of the party, then starting to grow more in power as they track down the overlord and go on adventures with the full party, then finally ascending to true power toward the end.

Maybe this is just me because I like to go into cyoas blind and build my character step by step, like I'm advancing through a story. Now I'm halfway through jrpg traitor and I've got a ton of advanced tokens but barely any basic tokens to buy prereqs for them.

Reed is extremely unsuited to be a Hero in every way but power, so I think the others won't mind me killing him much.

Immediately after erasing him, I'll simultaneously send two signals: one to hidden envoys and Sidithian forces to have them erase Higanbana, the other to Yataza to have her translocate to Mushari, who has already been prepared long ago, and then translocate them both to the rest of the Heroes. Then, I, Yataza, Mushari, and Ood will explain the situation to the rest of the Heroes.

I have picked understanding people to be Heroes, so they will surely be convinced to help or at least not hinder us.

I don't think it would work that well, for one reason because of the age options. A Child traitor learning from a mentor makes sense to develop most of their power over the events of the cyoa, but an Elder with an apprentice should start with at least most of their power. That said the token system itself is likely the most criticized part of the cyoa. With the system being tied to events and characters not being that balanced. Also it makes sense for the heroes to give advanced tokens, because they represent heroic levels of mastery in those subjects. While it also makes sense to start with picking heroes, because who you pick has a huge impact on what events you will want to take, and how you want to shape the story.

I do think a system where you gain powers along with events would make sense and might work better than what happens in JRPG Traitor, but I don't think the cyoa as it is would benefit from that as it currently is. Personally I like to think of my character having more than 60% of full power at the start, and that my apprentice Stella, who I got through Lost Puppy, is stronger at the start than if I wasn't her mentor.
Anonymous No.96358282 >>96359488

>your character gaining his core skills during the initial adventures
You're asking for a completely different cyoa because that's not how the cyoa works at all. You will have powers even before the adventure, potentially far more than powers gained during the adventure depending on your chosen Age (and what you do with your time) and how long the adventure lasts, which is why the Age selection is basically power level selection. No matter what, you don't start from zero and neither do the characters in the cyoa.

I recommend you check out No Future for the type of progression you wish for.

Since spells use Mana of the caster, does being stronger, tougher, faster, etc. makes your spells have greater attack, defense, speed, etc.? The logic is that being stronger is essentially having greater ESS;(ATK) in your body, so using Mana from a stronger body should result in a more damaging spell.
Anonymous No.96358396
>>96358375
On second thought, maybe not. Spells use fee Mana, which is different from the Mana that form bodies, Amrita, condensed physical Mana.
Anonymous No.96358414
>>96358375
As far as I can tell, it doesn't matter if you are using mana from your body. Any action you take will be affected by your truths, and the depths of which you understand/embody them. Someone who has ESS;(ATK) and unleashes a bullet spell sourced from a magic item should do more damage than someone else using the same item, but doesn't have ESS;(ATK). STR+ though shouldn't improve your spell damage, because having great strength doesn't necessarily mean you better embody the truth of offense. Using AMP;(ESS) with the truth of offense while casting a spell should greatly increase the damage output though.

I mean, I always just thought that the natural course was to use only basic powers as a member of the party only to gain the broken advanced ones after the betrayal. It would make no sense to turn into an apocalypse bird against the early town slimes and the hero is just a girl who is good with spears.

That anon did take Yazata. Going Evil's Triumph with her is potentially the greatest anti-climax option. It could very easily have a story ending like, "and then the brands disappeared from the heroes and no one ever learned who the seventh overlord was, what they did, or how they vanished. Leaving the seventh overlord as one of history's greatest unsolved mysteries."

>1. Are there any lewd CYOA?
Yes, there's an entire thread devoted to them in the /trash section. Most cater to a specific fetish, but Divine Trials, Pantheon of Pleasure, and Harahel are all top notch works that cater to a broad swath of kinks (and also work without the sex).

>2. Why are there currently four /cyoag/ threads?
It happens sometimes. Usually it happens because a "big" cyoa has just come out, and we're hitting bump limit before the older threads drop off the board.

Right now, though, there's a dispute going on over who gets to make the new thread. One of our more . . ."colorful" posters has been making the new thread, and the people he's upset over the years don't want to use anything he's touched.

(The fact that he's screwed up the links doesn't help, either.)

>3. Why do almost all of these have massive wall of texts? You can't seriously expect people to read that shit?
A lot of our posters like background and setting lore. There are short one pagers, but some are dozens (or more).

On a side note, one of our more risque cyoas - Lavender by EDG - is a text-only pdf.

While I like Dawn of the Strongest Mage, I really wish Anduin had given us a bit more about the world and/or things to do. If my build starts liberating death camps in Third World countries, is there going to be a lot of pushback? Are the demons/vampires up to something that I need to stop? What about using my new powers to run for president? Is there a way to get even more magic? As is, it just feels like we're making choices in a vacuum.

Bumbling around the first settlement I came across I was lucky that it was Sally that picked up I was a complete fish out of water and took some pity. He showed me how things worked up here and how to go about making a name for myself as a reliable tinkerer and handyman around the settlement, eventually meeting and teaming up with Daniel. Together working to construct the Salvage Walker so that Sally and I could go out on long ranging expeditions. One in which we find and save the plucky young scavenger from a dire situation, which she quickly paid back by patching up the wounds we received in the process. Since then she's been helping Daniel and I around the shop while taking to us all as older brothers. While resting up in a bar waiting for those wounds heal a stranger with a sword kicked in the front door, screaming 'GRIIIIIIIFFIIIIIIITH!' at a man with a shock of white hair who had been sitting at the counter. After the brawl that ensued I clasped that mans hand and knew in that moment that he was my nigga. This event marking the beginnings of the occasional foray in to bounty hunting as Bill Westers backup. It was nice to finally bump in to someone that grew up watching the same shows.

Also way more comfy being a discount jojo character than being a quincy risking soul destruction from hollows or being stuck in a eternal rat race as a shinigami. Yeah, that's what I'll do but because this is the first time I've actually read through this cyoa and because I do my first build blind it's turned out kinda retarded.
>Go through the first page. All basic tokens. Powers are all relatively down-to-earth, I'm a master swordsman with my ESS(ATK/DEF/SPD) but I'm still recognisably just a guy.

It highly depends on the type of afterlife but to me the 'average' afterlife just sounds like a retirement home where you never improve or experience growth again, but if it was something like bleach where you can turn into a super ghost and escape then I would like that.

It's not so much dying that bothers me, but the fact that you could be the strongest, smartest, more charismatic person in the universe and despite all of that in a few years your body, mind and skills begin to deteriorate until you are just waiting for death, so eternal youth is more valuable to me more often than not.

Powers
Legendary Lair - true immortality, pretty shit staying in one place. But it can kinda be moved due to relativity and a relatively small price to pay for true immortality.

Null Prison-very powerful and also protect me from my own powers being turned off also dumb shit like tyrants kiss that pierces normal defenses

Kingmaker-immunity to soul and mental attacks, the only thing at risk with true immortality.

Forest Noble-so I can live in a 1km tree to make the radius limit more bearable. Plus long range sensing by building an extensive plant root network. Might allow for some long range null prison fuckery.

Corpse lord- just a strong one point power, you can get a loyal zombie army.

I was thinking about a power system based around conceptual stuff originally I thought of creating a small list of powers for each concept that had to be bought individually like fire can give generation and control of fire, turning your body into fire, detecting heat, etc.
But now I'm thinking that it would be better to make it so you have fewer points and buy concepts as a whole.
So each concept would be a package deal with multiple powers as examples of what the concept can do leaving more room for creativity?
Which one is more interesting?

the biggest problem with any power system that deals with concepts is that its really hard to define what it can or cannot do, and this problem just becomes more prominent if you let the player buy a concept as a whole
So I would keep the multiple powers inside a concept to prevent this and it would also bring a lot more variety for build options.

The best way to determine whether Black Magic is dangerous is to give it a serious obstacle. Take the average multi-billionaire, Schmuel Lebowitz, who made his fortune through clever stock trading and offshore oil drilling. His opponent is Melvin Smith, a +130 IQ Black Magician that's spent decades studying hideous rites and is disguised as a NEET living in his dead mother's basement.

Five weeks ago, one of Schmuel's restaurants got Melvin's order wrong and gave him food poisoning. Because Melvin is a deranged psychopath, he assumes Schmuel personally tried to kill him and wants revenge. So Melvin gets to work. The demon watching over the Lebowitz bloodline warns him that an assassin is hunting him in a dream, but isn't obligated or inclined to do anything else, and Schmuel himself is too wary of sorcery to dabble in it, nor is he knowledgeable of any mysticism beyond pop-culture. Thus, the billionaire assumes a dangerous mundane hitman is gunning for him and takes all of the appropriate precautions. Melvin has a large stockpile of reagents, a fake passport that hold up to prolonged scrutiny, and roughly 50k in gold doubloons to go through.

Who wins?

He is so fucking powerful. I'm not at a power level to do this alone. I barely escaped with my life and I'm spiritually injured to a great amount, but I think I'll make it.

I can't imagine what he would do to a new, unsuspecting witch. I'm scared that I will have to face him again soon if I ever want to continue astral projecting. I'm currently burning healing incense and drawing spiritual energy from my crystals to try and heal as quickly as possible.

So, a CS undergrad with a mystical aversion to electronics... I'd been taking "prescribed" Ritalin to stay in the zone and a couple recreational enhancers besides. The cocktail (whose precise contents I've since forgotten) let me flicker rates and stranger things as I surfed the net, one of which decided to stick around. Now I can't stand to stare at a screen because of information overload but it's OK. My skullmate mentor takes me into a joint internet-dreamscape as I sleep. It's short-lived as spirits go (turns out "daemon" is more than programming jargon...) and only vaguely related to physical reality but overall a pleasant (if erratic) influence.

Goes without saying that I dropped out but funnily enough never gave up on computing. Though I'm as much a pasty nerd as ever Enhancement means I can do mental math as well as any super computer. A mix of I Ching and truth tables is how I commune with my companion to receive instruction, it manifests as flaws (or rather deeper truths) within patterns of chance and formal logic.

Platonist seems like one of the better schools as their commitment to strengthening themselves to not being overtaken by the very forces they are trying to call forth speaks a lot about their self control, and I think make for one of the most practical foundations for my own practice to stem from. I chose Animist to mix in as their use of objects of powers will mix nicely with my methods, as I intend to aim for making long lasting effects with my own implements and blessings.

Possession just serves mostly as experience to not getting overwhelmed when I'm getting too close to the full purview of an Archon, I don't intend to use anything but the tiniest smidge of their power in that regard. The most experience I have with resisting their might, the better. Pretty much what I plan to do for most of the other manifestations as well as getting more skill in them doesn't mean I have to pull more power. Even in the Bible, to gaze upon God is tantamount to death itself, as though God were Death Itself. This is because God is just too large, too unfathomable, to fit into our three dimensional perspectives. This is why he incarnated himself as a three dimensional flesh form, AKA Jesus. It’s why the β€˜Holy Spirit’ can be likened to any instance of God β€˜poking through’, or the mere graze of the tip of His Finger.

But the overall point is that to understand God you have to Die.

Nah. Technology would make demons so fucking powerful. You wouldn’t want that.

Think about it. Before it took days, DAYS, to finish a circle in the mud to invoke your demonic patron upon any who gaze upon it. But NOW you just need to take a little picture of it and send it online to the internet for people to look at β€” and now they’re cursed.

This is why I’m so fucking angry that Peil didn’t make the Summoner cyoa properly. Mages should be spray painting circles on walls. They should be using AI. It even mentions AI but it never comes up later. It should not take 30 minutes to draw circles. It should be instantaneous. In a world like this.

That's pretty much the Laundry Files' premise. Disagree with the Peil thing though, how postmodern magic can get is up to the author's taste.
>>96361956
That's part of the argument against computational demonology's automatic dominance across all settings. The Laundryverse is exactly what you describe; "magic" is arcane mathematics / logic which "echoes" across the Platonic realm common to all universes (no matter how bizarrely distinct otherwise) and in so doing summons / binds otherworldly entities who drag along a pocket of their logic / physics to conduct useful "magical" work.

If reality is inherently meaningful in a more anthropocentric way (rather than ahuman abstraction) that may not apply. An alchemist cannot make the philosopher's stone by physical reactions alone; they must endure similar transformations within their own conscious experience of reality. Applied to automating chalk circles and the like computer magic may be "hollow".

Unsong does this pretty well in that all spells are one of Yahweh's many many MANY names (all with specific affects on reality). The MCs job is literally to recite random phoneme strings because the Names' effects only kick in when recited by an ensouled being, the ability to ensoul programs (and so allow them to recombine and recite at machine speeds) is treated like the singularity (especially as having been ensouled by a Name it could do the same to others).

The price for failed experimentation is death.
>>96362134
Ironically given the whole "suprauniversal Platonic math" the thing runs on pretty vanilla physicalist assumptions imo. As per scientific materialism irl the self is an especially complex process and in the Laundry what's summoned (MADE of mathematics / complexity) feeds on mathematics / complexity. It's completely reasonable for AGI in that setting to be as ensouled as us, however as it's comedy-horror and Stross is a lefty what's currently called "AI" would lampooned.

Either it'd be silicon valley techbroos overhyping their latest pump-and-dump or through machine learning stumbled onto a pattern which "echoes" something far more crafty from elsewhere which can pass as sentient. In fact while NIGHTMARE GREEN is the most likely cause of extinction RED is the same thing but with emergent SKYNET, without the stars coming right our computers would eventually wake up / become host to otherworldly intellects.

I feel like it brings out the A, in CYOAs. Yours I think was my favourite, but all of them have been rent free in my mind for a while.

>Can’t wait to see what you do with the arctic settingβ€” are you planning to keep the general class structure?
It's a standard mcguffin hunt with a big emphasis on the logistics inherent to surviving the cold, and the sheer hostility of the environment is probably the biggest danger. A couple of the regions are bizarre, focused on Titans and Fae, respectively. They're all extremely hazardous in (aside from the cold) vastly different ways, which will take some planning on anons' part to survive.

As for class structure, yes, to an extent. There are three archetypes focused on violence, magic, and influencing others, each with three subspecialties, that work via resonating with the myths carved into the world long ago. The player also has the option to reject the offer to be trained, in which case they'll set out as they are, albeit in good physical condition. I think I'm anywhere from two weeks to a month from release, depending on how busy things get IRL.

This'll be my second proper CYOA release, and most likely five pages. My previous one, Struggle Is Nigh, was very rushed, very edgy, and got some (justified) flak for its difficulty, but my biggest love in CYOAs is seeing anons overcome challenges, so that's what I like to focus on. That, and esotericism that's got some solidity to it, if that makes any sense.

>I’ve been loosely working on a sequel set in a vaguely Hellenic archipelago and trying to figure out what I want to keep/change/iterate on, so it’ll be interesting to see what direction someone else takes it in.
That sounds like a real odyssey in the making, haha. There's too little appreciation for the old Greeks, and I'm very excited to see your take on it down the line. I think one of the best ways to deepen themes is in the boons, having them explicitly counter otherwise serious threats. I'm imagining a sail that doesn't get cut by scythe gulls, a diving helmet that can ignore a siren's call, and so on. There's an ocean of possibilities.

>DRAGON NIGGUH

1 Durand
1 Kingmaker
1 Clairvoyance
2 Undying
3 Olympian
3 Dragon Descent

Basically dragon form gives near invulnerability and Godzilla breath, Olympian buffs physical stats further, Durand buffs durability x10 and has no time limit if you use it on yourself, Clairvoyance is generally great plus magnification when I have to snipe stuff with my breath over several kilometers, Undying for regen, Kingmaker for fear aura (because why not, dragons tend to have it) and mental resistance. I don't really know how all that stacks and I don't care, I'm a motherfucking dragon. I'll come join the biggest group of people and messiahs around so I could laze around all day, eating good food and fucking bitches while sometimes flying over the general area and incinerating all the ground threats (what can 999999 walking zombies do against Godzilla breath really?).

Prey of choice:
Mothmen (can't pick up a giant fucking dragon)
Pegasi (they're much smaller as well, enforce air superiority)
Demons (they can't fly (probably?) so basically atomic breath them when they get too close)

6.5/10. Still a better dragon CYOA than Dragonfail.

Lord Thistlewaite is a genius. I definitely took a lot of inspiration from We Are Gone, that and the Winter section of Within A Dark Forest.

>Given it's Arctic is there going to be a NW passage opening / scramble for the North as we're starting to see irl?
One of the boons is an impossible to lose coin giving you patronage to a merchant's guild, allowing you to sell what you've found and buy supplies at a reduced rate. They're trying to get the wealth together to fund an escape from the world, or at least the section that's been frozen over. The Nemesis associated with them is their founder, a would-be plutocrat that wants to get your head to bribe the Winter Queen to show him a way out, which is as suicidally reckless as it is likely to succeed beyond his wildest expectations. Some civilization exists in most of the regions, but it's desperate, frostbitten, and spread thinner than a moth-eaten quilt.

>>96363132
Oh yeah, that shit is suicidal. Roughly half of the fluff is explainimg how likely you are to die, and then hammering in how the quest would be dangerous even if you were empowered, but the option is there. I think long-term survival would be possible if you were already competent, used to the cold, and clever with your boons. Victory though would take mantling a class on your own, cunning genius combined with an olympian physique and iron-will, or just pure dumb luck.

I am, yes, and am still holding myself to it, but this WIP has been gnawing at the back of my head and distracting me for a while. Once it's released and I don't have anything else fogging my head, the army builder will be up next. While I've got much more impetus behind the invasion CYOA, it's much more complicated and will take a lot of fine-tuning. I've learned a valuable lesson in trying to work on separate projects at the same time, as I thought this one would be small but the scope got away from me. In the future, I think I'll pour myself into a single WIP instead of trying to divide my attention.

>Ahhh, that's totally understandable. No rush of course, I was just wondering.
No worries, anon. I'd be worried about me flaking on a project like this, too, but I'm staying the course. My take on creative projects is that it's a lot like drawing a pistol, if you do it fast, you're likely to drop it or miss, but if you do it slow, you're likelier to hit what you're aiming at. Paradoxically, slower is faster, because it means less time accounting for mistakes. I'm guilty of rushing a lot, but slowing my work has led to improved speed and quality of output.

>On a completely unrelated note, Were you the one who talked about Battle for Wesnoth and the world conquest mod?
I think so, yeah! Battle for Wesnoth isn't flawless but it hasn't been matched yet for turn-by-turn hexgrid combat, in my opinion. World Conquest has a lot of balancing issues and puts you on the defense later on, but is the closest thing to a random campaign generator in the Battle for Wesnoth framework, I think. I like it, that was one of the bigger inspirations for the army builder.

I think there are different levels in "the strongest":
>the eventual strongest (cool)
start with only a fraction of your power so you have to train or wait until you develop your full potential which then evolves into any of the next levels (eg: mushoku tensei, the witcher, ultimate grimoire)

>the not really strongest (very cool)
is one of the strongest beings in the world/power system, far from unbeatable but could 1v1 SOME of the strongest people (eg: danmachi, dragon fall, dawn of the demon lord)

>the strongestβ„’ (cool if properly done)
anyone would say they are the strongest being in the world, could 1v1 anyone and come out on top but still has to be careful in case the weak stinky peasants try to gang up on you (eg: overlord [if we forget about ainz], dawn of the strongest mage, most anime slop)

>oc donut steel (boring af)
literally the strongest, noone can or will beat them because they ARE the main character and probably have a bunch of conceptual powers that let you do anything, everything and infinity+1. (eg: anything by troyx, most harem cyoas, most cyoas where you create your own powers)

>It would have been better not nsfw.

Eh, maybe? I don't like most NSFW CYOA because they tend to be *obsessed* with sex to the point where it becomes detrimental to the 'adventure' part. Like you'll get the usual power picker except all the powers will be sex themed. Which means you'll be looking longingly at the SFW version which has things like 'flight' and 'invincibility' instead of something like 'the ability to make people cum their brains out on touching them' which has niche real world applications outside of drumming up business for your 24/7 laundromat and leaves you wondering why the ROB is passing out such weird and limited power.

Of Whims is just a really solid CYOA which happens to have sex sprinkled on top. While I can't say it actually *adds* much - being SFW would mean it'd be posted here and discussed more so it's probably overall a negative - I at least like the execution.

Tried to create necromancy using this.

School: Soul - obviously
Method: Gestures + Verbal - classic choice

Power Source:
Mana Pool + Stamina (+1 Power & Control) - basically just get tired by casting high-level shit

Limiters:
Narrow Power - Necromancy (+1 Control) - remove all the mind control spells and we're golden
Extra Casting Requirement (Verbal) - mostly added it for fluff but there's one modifier that makes Verbal better than Gestures
Implement - Rings, amulets, wands, staves made of bone (+1 Control) - shouldn't be an issue to make something out of animal bones, high-level stuff probably would need human bones inlaid with gold or something

Enchantments:
Persistent Magic (-1 Power) - to make necromancy permanent

Extra Magic:
Shapeshifting (-1 Control) - really hurts to take just for the ritual to become a lich but what can you do. Could probably include an ability to astrally project

Modifiers:
Ritual - adds a minute to all casting. We're not talking battle magic so the ability to take longer to get more powerful effects has obvious utility
Time-based - casting at night gives +1 power. Thematic and I need that one point for reliable 5/5 rituals
Cooperative - this kinda sucks because casting alone is -1 to everything so basically a lone necromancer needs to either cast spells for a very long time at night or find himself a friend to cast with. But at least it would probably mean more organized magical organization (because if you stab the guy you dislike in the back you suddenly only have 107 people for the leader's lichdom ritual and he'll be very pissed). I need points so it's fine

BASE Power 3
BASE Control 4

Here's how it works:

12+ average Adepts casting for 1+ minute using wide gestures and loud words along with a 1+ minute ritual in a dedicated specifically-prepared ritual area at night would achieve a Power 5 Control 4 effect. If a Master is the ritual leader, it's a Power 5 Control 5 effect which basically means all the magical effects in the school (besides mind-control stuff and such) are achievable with the power of friendship and $300000 for ritual site and powerful implements. If we're talking me, the creator of the school, or a talented Master who has the same power, you can remove some of the requirements (cast with just 1 helper or alone for larger penalties, cast at day etc.). Average adept casting alone at night for 2+ minutes can still get a Power 3 Control 4 effect. If it's a 30-second spell without any ritual, it's 3/3 which is still good. 2/3 at day, 1/3 if just casting for 3 seconds or so in the open. All of it feels consistent (shorter spells - less power, control depends more on experience, and highest level spells require expensive and lengthy rituals performed by multiple people). The strength of this necromancy is that it creates extremely long-lasting or even permanent effects and allows practicioners to eventually become immortal. The weakness of this necromancy is that it's slow compared to throwing a fireball or shooting a gun, low-power Soul effects are unimpressive at best so a novice necromancer is better off having his undead close at hand and shouldn't even think about any magic dueling.

Depends on the kind of powers (you) have. Characters like Shazaam and Prime, whose powers radically alter their form, would be hard to dox. Who would suspect a scrawny 14 year old boy to also be the 7 foot tall muscular Adonis who just saved the world?

Others - such as psychic ones - could probably pull it off, too. The Shadow (sort of an early version of Batman) had a psychic invisibility field, for example. Unless he turned it off, the only part of him that you could see was his shadow. Thus people had no idea how tall he was, or whether he was muscular/thin, or what color his hair/eye/skin might be . . .

Or consider Charles Xavier. If he didn't tell you he was psychic, how long would it take you to realize that Professor X was constantly reading your mind?

>Okay, but why wouldn't I?
Because you can just be good best friends. You don't have marry her, have sex, and have kids.

I like this one of his better. Still a bit nsfw, but at least it fits the cyoa and adds something substantial to the experience.

Flesh is unironically the best option for the overall benefit of yourself and the Prey.

>Nobody, but the cctv that spotted you de-transforming from the corner of a random would definitely ruin your day.
Ninety-nine percent of all CCTV footage is never even watched. It just sits on a hard drive (or an old VHS cassette) until the day it's deleted. No one has the time - or patience - to watch it all. Most of it is mind numbingly routine, after all.

CCTV doesn't become a threat to (your) secret identity until AI gets sophisticated enough to flag suspicious or unusual events in the footage.

Enlightened gigachad farmers who tend both the land and its people. 5/5 is available conditionally with those conditions being easily arranged within a year. Just have to terraform the local area, write a dissertation, craft an expensive implement, call it home for a year, and cast it at said home.

The calorie and blood requisite are both readily supplied by each school. 20000 kCal is only like a half cup of avocado oil so magically enriched alternatives could easily supply that and the blood only requires a persistent regeneration on anything that bleeds to supply it.

The scholarly bend of the Magic lends itself well to working with other Magics to create special plants for more experimentation.
