>Thread Question:
Is there something that's named in the fluff, but otherwise has no canonical description or artwork, for which you have inexplicably a very specific mental image? like a piece of equipment, or a unit, or an alien race, or a character or a subfaction?
>Alt Thread Question:
Do you have a project you want to start but have been postponing for a while, for whatever reason?

Wanted to make use of my Cadian at Ease model to make it a statue.
Like I had plans to learn Blender to sculpt a low-poly statue base for the metal guardsman model.
Then Wargames Atlantic's 3D printing division makes a plinth and so I just need to get a printed plinth from a commission service and I'll be ready for when the collage demands terrain pieces.

>Ferren Areios Is the current Captain of the Ultramarines 6th Company and Master of the Rites
>He was originally named only Ferren and was born in Hive Daner Fifty, which he was forcibly taken from by agents of Archmagos Dominus Cawl, and then turned into a Primaris Space Marine.[1c] Ferren would then undergo training and hibernation for millennia, on Cawl's Ark Mechanicus Zar-Quaesitor, until the Indomitus Crusade was preparing to begin. At that time, Lord Commander Guilliman personally chose Ferren to be the adjutant for Lord Lieutenant Messinius, after becoming impressed with his training records. While he still slept, Ferren was also bestowed the rank of Lieutenant by the Lord Commander, who asked Messinius to teach Ferren all he knew

>Messinius was present when Ferren was brought out of hibernation and the Lord Lieutenant told the Primaris what was expected of him. After Ferren absorbed this, and swore his service to the Emperor, Messinius asked him if he wanted to change his name. As his old life was gone and he would serve under Messinius, Ferren asked the Lord Lieutenant to choose a new name for him. After thinking of it, Messinius granted him the last name Areios, which was taken from an ancient myth and was synonymous with Mars. Now named Ferren Areios, the Lieutenant joined Messinius as he sought to check the state of the mishap prone, Indomitus Crusade Fleet Quintus. It had been chosen to be the first of the Crusade's Fleets to launch, but a series of accidents, sabotages and sickness, had delayed Quintus' readiness. This had led Guilliman to ask Messinius to determine if it was still possible for Quintus to launch on time. Messinius had been informed that a plague was also spreading amongst Quintus' Fleet and when he and Ferren arrived on the Cruiser Ideos, they witnessed it first hand. They quickly learned that the sickness was a Warp-born plague and those stricken with it, caused a number of minor Daemons to materialize when they died. After aiding in dispatching an outbreak of Daemons on Ideos, the two then went to give their reports to Lord Commander Guilliman, on how catastrophic the plague truly was.

>Later, Areios fought at the Battle of the Machorta Sound. Leading a boarding party of fresh Primaris Space Marines aboard the Chaos command ship Blood King, Areios and his men fought their way to the bridge. There, they encountered a statue that began to move and revealed itself as a Daemon Prince of Khorne. All of Areios' squad was wiped out by the creature, and Ferren himself was brought to his knees. However before the Daemon could deliver the final blow a group of Aggressor reinforcements arrived, battering the enemy with enough firepower to allow Areios to plunge his Power Sword into the creatures chest, slaying it.
>Roughly 5 years into the Indomitus Crusade Areios had become Captain of First Company, of the first battalion, of the first division of Battle Group Iolus. While planning the attack on Tiantin City on the planet Suladen, Messinius had overruled Areios' slower more careful strategy in favor of speed. Areios later participated in the attack with his personal squad and led his company. After arriving at the enemy's heavy guns they were attacked by a rogue psyker, Areios had his men distract the psyker, and then killed him with a grenade. Shortly after that, one of Areios' Sergeants informed him that several Astra Militarum traitors had surrendered, and were willing to exchange their lives for intelligence. Areios ordered that they all be executed as they'd be a drain on resources, and believed they had nothing worthwhile to tell.
>Later during the Battle of Srinagar, Areios faced the Word Bearers Dark Apostle Pridor Vrakon. Despite his many centuries of simulated training, Areios proved no match for Vrakon's abilities and was badly wounded and left for dead by the disgusted Dark Apostle. Saved from death by his Belisarian Furnace, he was later recovered by Serfs and nursed back to health.

People often say that GW regrets Slaanesh or some earlier lore or whathave you, but I know what they actually regret the most.

Different Companies having different shoulder trim. It was a good idea at the time but I just know that if the GW of now could choose, they'd have ALL Ultramarines in blue/gold.

>When the Unnumbered Sons were dissolved, Areios hoped he would remain under the command of Messinius and join the White Consuls Chapter, but Guilliman himself requested Areios join the Ultramarines directly, and he was assigned to the Sixth Company in time for the Battle of Garrovire. Aerios, along with Captain Maximus Epathus, Librarian Maendaius, Lieutenant Vero, and several other Ultramarines, were part of a mission to investigate strange psychic obfuscation within the ruins of a purged city on Garrovire, where they discovered a Chaos-tainted statue. Deciding to destroy the statue, the Ultramarines were attacked by a Possessed member of their squad, leaving Vero and Epathus dead, and Meandaius suspected of corruption; Aerios assumed de-facto command of the company. Following a vision from the librarian, the Sixth Company Strike Cruiser joined up with Inquisitor Leonid Rostov to search for the base of the Hand of Abaddon. With aid from the Votann Omrigar Kindred, and Rostov's small Imperial Fleet, the 6th Company, 84th Mordian Iron Guard, and a Platoon of Inquisitorial Stormtroopers were able to board the Hand of Abaddon's Blackstone Fortress, defeating the cultists and Chaos Space Marines within. During the battle Areios kills the Hand of Abaddon member dubbed the Butcher King, but not before Five of the Eight other members of the Hand had escaped.
>Several years after the battle on the Blackstone Fortress Ferren went to Macragge to officially be recognized as Captain of the Sixth Company by Roboute Guilliman. Before his meeting with Guilliman Ferren traveled to the Hall of Solemnity to see the resting place of Maximus Epathus. While looking for Epathus he ran into Cato Sicarius, who offered Ferren advice on dealing with the death of Epathus, and shared the lessons he had learned over the years of his service. While they talked Cato led Ferren to Epathus' resting place.

i fucking hate this type of release, its so deeply cynical and exploitative.

leagues needed a bunch of new unit types, they dont have jump troops, flyers, skimmers, walkers, etc. instead they release 5 different types of completely redundant units we already had, and stripped and nerfed the old units just to convince you to buy the new ones, while leaving the massive gaps in the range completely intact.

Just found a fan made at ease version of the metal Cadians
Now I want to see GW hopefully make a current Cadian at ease model.
Is there a name designation to the "patterns" of Cadian flak armor? Like previous generation just Cadian pattern and new generation "post fall pattern?" Or is it just a redesign?

Reason I ask is because the current Imperial Guard tanks have a pattern designation (I think) called "Phaeton Pattern."

The easiest fix is declaring dead or cut off and dying all worlds on the nihilus side
Baal included, the angels must thus fuck off from there and lose their world

The hardest fix is actually wasting time detailing how exactly the loss of frequent contact and communication is affecting the light side of the galaxy, because the dark side was supplying its tithes and now suddenly they can't supply them reliably, that has to have consequences with losses on certain warfronts, difficulties in certain patterns which get replaced or abandoned

I literally played my first game of 40K today and I had a lot of fun. I am certain I am going to pick up some version of warhammer and play. AoS models look really awesome and the GW employee said its got slimmed down rules , then some other guys were playing "Spearhead" which also looks fun. Im an adult with a job so I am comfortable with the cost , but would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction? I like the Black Templars of 40K , but the fantasy aesthetic has always been a favorite of mine. Any opinions or advice?

People are theorizing that 11e (coming relatively soon) will have a revamped low point format that is reminiscent of Spearhead.

Real question is do you want to play WHF which is definitely hard fantasy (and go ask the /aosg/ fellas), or would you rather play sci-fi factions that have some fantasy elements/motifs to them?

Some retards in here will poo-poo AOS and while it doesn't get as much money as 40k (and therefore slower rate of new models), imo the model quality is much better.

As for possible fantasy factions in 40k,
maybe like Custodes/SoS, Grey Knights, Space Wolves, sorta Black Templar,
The Space elves can both be set up in a more fantasy way, and the chaos factions (except Emperor's Children) all feel like something that could plausibly wind up in AoS as some stupid crossover event.

Demons can sorta be played in both systems with the same army, but their existence as a standalone faction in 40k is shaky (I think it's still there?)

I'd say a wholly different cast of gods would've been a better start. Ofc we can't do that now but in a white room scenario the setting would benefit itself from distancing it from FB. What cast of Gods? Fuck if I know, I am not getting paid to navelgaze on an imageboard that I once loved.
Lacking that I would say that, alternatively, 40k would've benefited from changing identities of the Chaos gods and their design ques. Give them different names, different daemons, maybe even different colour schemes, different design ques. Y'know, similarly to how there are already parallels between Chaos Gods and Eldar Gods, i.e. Khaine = Khorne, Vaul = Vashtorr, but extend that parallel to 40k and Fantasy.
Why is it a bad thing in the first place? Daemons just look lame in 40k. They're wholly rooted in Fantasy and it shows through their designs and sculpts, they were created to be "the most alien" thing within FB but in 40k they just don't read like that when there are actual weirder ayylmaos around. And so in an attempt to rectify that people construct various headcanons like "Daemons are actually so humanlike because humans are so prevalent in 40k!", which is like 'fine' as a copout explanation but I think its far from perfect and does a bit of a disservice to the daemon image.
Whole "Warp connects two settings!" thing is incredibly poorly written and should be either axed or be ripped off as a bandaid and leaned even heavily onto and I much prefer axing it.

Here's the truth: The ballet-like flying pose, with just the tip of a unit's fingers touching a towering piece of rock or ruin, only works for slender, graceful units like Eldars or Sisters of Battle.

Bulky, heavy-looking units (like space marines or battle suits) need to stand firmly on their feet, on the ground.

Of the modern Death Guard marines you only have 1 in the main Plague marine kit, 1 in the Blightlord kit (and another in the completely optional LoC + blightlord kit) and 1 in the Deathshroud kit that have anything tentacle-like, all of which can just be clipped off/sanded down if you don't like them.

I don't understand how it's that far of a leap when the models you posted still have esophageal tendrils wrapping in and out of them. Is it just because you can headcanon those as somehow still part of the suit despite them clearly being organic? Bunch of Kill Team enthusiasts at the more popping "local" that's about 40 mins from me. Some people that get together for friendlies on occasion, but also TCG is the majority of their business so it's mostly FNM stuff going on. The other popping one 40 mins in the other direction is new and nice but doesn't have the usual 15% off new stuff which is kind of lame, have yet to do a wargame event there but the crowd seems good.

The local in my actual town is a musty-smelling fucking ghost town and nobody ever really goes there, not sure if it has a previous bad rep or what but I literally never see anyone there like ever. Went in like a week ago to look for a model in the afternoon and it was just the cashier sitting there watching YouTube videos.

There's another one like 20ish minutes from me, but it's really small and mostly just does TCG stuff and just has a part of the wall with some dusty ass old kits, which is sorta interesting sometimes but clearly not their focus. Got a smashed up box of Mk4 heresy marines for a big discount from there and built em into 20 intercessors for my Black Templars for shits and giggles. They have some old KT box sets I might snag for the terrain at some point, too.

I'm very lucky to live in a place that has a lot of LGS's with variety, but honestly I mostly enjoy home games knocking back beers with the bros.

I don't personally have this kit so I can't show you an example of mine, but I'm sure it would take barely any effort to just repose the legs how you want. The copium of multiposting as hard as you can is embarrassing, but sure, one last time I'll bite. I moved some of the legs on my intercessors with the method I mentioned above. If it's really that difficult for you then I think you have some sort of motor skills deficiency or cataracts or something. I convert other models and I just took a look at assembly videos. It would be a nightmare to assemble and cut them up. The joints would require complex cuts to get around the knee plate portrusions and even then, half of the available 30k models you want to lateral cut the middle of the plates in the legs (to spin them a little) would be horribly hard to do. They have markings all along their plates that would look weird.

There's no way to reposition the legs.

Either way there is nothing stopping you from clipping the legs and moving them. Sorry you were born learning with an iPad and have zero imagination and think that hobby items in a box must come delivered from James Workshop himself in exactly the position you would personally prefer.

look at the way the legs and crap looks, they've all got orientation marks in the form of lined dots, or otherwise lines in the legplates that wouldn't align if you "cut and twist"

mark6 marines maybe, but that's pushing it a little
