the guy that runs the local Necromunda group asked everyone to build a big custom "boss encounter" themed for our gangs. so for my Cawdors I made this giant walking scrap shrine with a preacher surgically attached to the top controlling it.. or maybe he's like a servitor and just acts as the computer for it?

Every time designers go to work on them it’s only ever for Nurgle, who gets the lions share of stuff despite Khorne being the biggest and baddest of the gods in 40k. Hell, even the videogames use Nurgle most of the time. Biggest irony of this is that we don’t even have any non-HQ big beasties that aren’t Legends even WITH Nurgle getting most of the focus. Nurgle had a presence even before 2014 though you are correct in saying he was perhaps not nearly as dominant. Ulkair was the final boss of Chaos Rising and in fact the Forgeworls GUO sculpt shares his look. Hell, think about the fact that Death Guard was a big FW thing and that Nurgle has had like five different Daemon Prince sculpts. Love for the plague god is pretty big amongst the designers.

Just read the Votann's new codex.
GW went hard in showing them as evil. They wrote them as bullies and extortionists.
They unprovokedly murdered Tau diplomats and invaded a Tau world to loot the world's resources.
They feel zero compassion toward humans despite knowing that they share the same origins. They exterminated numerous Imperial worlds with no pity or remorse, not in self-defense but because they wanted the worlds' minerals.
They have no code of honour like the Dawi in WHFB or the duardin in AoS. They are just motivated by greed and a sense of obnoxious entitlement.

I think they can be viewed from an angle where they have some neat parallels to orks. That is if orks are looked at from the angle of being a biological weapons system that's been left to run way past the death of its wielders. Because of their supposed origins as the Men of Stone, LoV get to have something similar going on, being a whole society created as a system for labor and resource extraction, that's continued to mindlessly accrue natural riches long after the collapse of the human civilization that made them.

The yellow and blue is clearly a holdover from an earlier time when gw didn't make an extensive use of metallics in schemes and everything was way more saturated.

If one were to translate, rather than copy, iyanden's scheme to a modern rendition, I think it would work better with either gold/bronze metallic armors, to make them look ancient and statuary, or yellowed bone colour, to emphasize the theme of undeath.

While the 9th ED and introductory lore elsewhere showed that they were greedy pricks, they were bright spots in there. The 9th ed codex said that they have friendly relations with the Tau and craftworlders. And the loremaster+ video said that they might allow populations on the world they want to crack to peacefully leave.

The 10th edition codex is devoid of any points of brightness. It's grimdark atop grimdark. The Tau incident is especially alarming since they shot civilians in the process of negotiation.

The Black Legion didn't invade Medusa. The Black Legion launched a distraction strike against a hiveworld that drew the attention of the Imperium away from Medusa, allowing the Iron Warriors to besiege the Medusa system.

There were no Black Legion involved in the invasion. Only Abaddon was there aboard his capital ship, acting as an observer of the Iron Warrior invasion.
The Iron Hands were saved by Imperial reinforcements.
What Abaddon got in exchange for helping the Iron Hands was access to new Daemon Engines and a pledge of support from Pert. Also, knowledge of the defenses of Medusa. Which was worth it since he didn't invest much assets in the whole event.

A 10 man squad can have 4 special ranged weapons, 2 thunderhammers, 2 shields, the xenophase blade probably only goes on the sargeant.

Nah you don't even need to soak, just put the model in IPA and turn it on, it'll clean it to bare plastic in a couple minutes. Some primers are harder to clean, for example mr surfacer and citadel rattlecans come off extremely quickly but e.g. Vallejos surface primer took a lot longer and I still had to scrub it a bit. An anon in /wip/ had a nice hack in that he didn't just fill the cleaner with ipa but instead poured it in a plastic baggie along with his mini and put that in the cleaner instead.
It's a really nice hack for stripping your minis and you can get a small ultrasonic cleaner for like $10 on ali/temu

Apothecaries have similiar backpacks with a plate on top of the powerpack.
It's not exclusive to mk8. Also I still don't see the problem with GW mixing armor marks with primaris. It's one of the biggest complaints people have, ie. not enough variation in mk10.
