/KDM/ - Kingdom Death Monster General
red bitches edition

โ–ถWhat is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop minature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

โ–ถWhat is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

Prologue Narration: [YouTube] Kingdom Death: Monster - Prologue (https://youtu.be/FNLc8dHv0Ac)

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

A successful game campaign takes place over the course of 25 to 30 'lantern years' maximum, marked by completing one full phase cycle. Watch as your settlement grows and witness the survivors write their own narrative as they age. Hone your strategy and learn from your mistakes to overcome the immense odds in this cruel and twisted nightmare scape.

โ–ถtldr
Final Fantasy Tactics meets Dark Souls meets Monster Hunter meets Civilization with the setting of the eclipse in Berserk but shit just stayed that way.

I think the person that painted this posted here but I can't remember.
Was the effect on the cloth made by drawing really thin lines of paint horizontally in increasing brightness?

Yeah, its basically this method except with off-white highlight instead of skin tone:

The texture will show up more if you apply a matt varnish afterwards. Also make sure you use a brush with a very good tip for the lines.

You can try the core game and most of the expacs on TTS via workshop mods, its recommended you do that before you're sure about buying a physical set.
There's also an official digital version that's WIP and currently lacks some features TTS has.

There's a sale every black friday with 20-50% discounts on most items, including the core game and older expansions.

Enjoy. As stupid as it sounds, one of my favorite things about KD:M was first time opening that behemoth of a box and then repeating that feeling with Gambler's Chest. It's like you're a child on Christmas morning each time.

Most likely not
My wife expressed interest in the game so we're going to play the tutorial together, but I have doubts that she will stick around afterwards tbqh

Same, the box is absolutely amazing

Just got done with a 9 hour session with friends. I absolutely had no idea this game had so much depth past the opening fight. We pulled the event where we got fucking lost and had to start a new settlement. The hilarious narrative potential akin to dwarf fortress.

I could just play KDM on Tabletop Simulator, but I'm considering owning it physically because the models are hot glue-inducing and I have a need to paint them.

Not him but when I was between jobs I would pick up coffee and donuts for the bros and they would come over around 8. We'd play until 6 or so and then order dinner. I miss NEETdom

We finally has schedules line up, no work the next day, got a ton of take out and some drinks and just never looked at thw clock. The resetting of the settlement definitely added some time. The game scratches a particular roguelike itch for me and my buddy, but my girlfriend who's usually a pokemon fanatic with a (tolerable) amount of autism latched on and kept wanting to take her favorite dagger goblin survivor on hunts . I haven't had a gaming session like that in a while, made me feel young again.

Yea just core for now, though I immediately started looking for a well priced gamblers chest on ebay. I honestly only got core on a whim years ago because I paint as a hobby and these models have the perfect aesthetic for horror and whore-er without being obnoxious. I think our groups going to be abusing this game for a good while. Next week we are having a paint session to paint the year 10 survivor box i got us.

Keep the bases as they were for a nice statue base aesthetic or give the bases some life? I was really digging the Greek statue style but a fully painted monster/survivor seems a bit off. I am undecided. Also a world devoid of color and life might not translate well I dont think. I've got black sand I might use for the bases but not really sure what to do.
Anonymous No.96491587
>>96490139
I like to keep the bases as they are because I like that statue aesthetic and this has nothing to do with the fact that I suck at making good looking bases.

what do echoes of death even tho? it says that they have unique survivors and a prototype of the stain system, aren't they obsolete since the strain system is completely out now?
Anonymous No.96494303

the extra vermin card is fun and strains are not obsolete.

if you refer to knowledges and philosophy's ? these are something new. strains are achievements that give a new thing, like fighting arts you can use.

what i meant is that the core game is literally missing 1 monster, so its not really completed. it needs a lategame node 4 for after phoenix. best so far is dung beetle knight, or lion god for masochists.

i dont know how king would be implemented.

So it looks like my purchase list for the future is
>core game (already owned and currently playing)
>then gamblers chest
>then allies and adversaries bundle
That sounds about right for getting the most out of everything? I know there's a bunch of single model expansions but I feel like the math favores the bundles.

if by "most out of everything" you mean having a replacement for every core game monster then no, you still need black knight

Just meant bang for buck on getting some of the bigger expansions. As it looks, most of the others are just single models where GCE, Red witches and the other one seem like bigger picture stuff.
