Almost done finishing up the last bits of that Curse Gunslinger I had. Decided to grab Grim Outlook x3 to put Maladies into the mix and make the negative effects of the Death Letters more prominent and faster acting similar to the difference between Evil Eye and Evil Eye x2. The only thing I got left is deciding which Mentor to Untimeskip.

I'm torn between Natalja to become a mathemagician right out the gate and being able to practice it in my childhood with Achaxe who I dice fudged into my adoptive mother, or on Charlotte so I can immediately have Word of God on hand and start setting things into motion to pay off years in the future.

WOG just seemed better over DEM. My build could easily swap between either due to not taking anything but Deus Ex Machina is reliant on [YMRD]'s presence, and even though I have stuff like Devout Signature to get it easier, having an innate understanding of a technique that will perform a similar role in my build to proc the effects of the Grim Outlook Bullets seems like a better move. Plus with Tsifra it just seems to all flow better together as the effects go hand in hand for defining the world and forcing a single outcome.

Actually I don't even think you can Shta Dirk cause he has a B slot right? So even more reason not to try and skirt around having to pay for Charlotte's teachings.

Yes, you are right. Guess my build was slightly illegal after all.

As for summary vs original, no one says you can't develop it further yourself, Charles certainly did that. It may be harder, but avoids the risk of meeting her personally and giving a very irritated false godess an opening.

80 Monster
48 Evil
104 Transforms
29 Directly
68 30-40 sec
Monster of evil transforms directly
Exactly what I needed, something to modify the uruk and experiment with new life

70 power
93, order
190, reverses
108, Lovingly
174, 2-10 days
the Power of order, reverses lovingly
The power of order is of course the power to control what people do
In reversing it, instead of spending power to make people do as I ask, I gain power when they intentionally do as I say
I use this in elaborate rituals, to give renewed meaning to my creations
(As all magic effects including permanent ones run on meaning)

98, revenge
111, fire
142, touches
43, Directly
35, 10-20 sec
Revenge of fire touches directly
FIREBALL!

70, power
5, the letter dobro
27, Harms
93, Roughly
192 1-10 years
Power of the letter dobro harms roughly
Dobro represents good
I guess this is an extremely effective banishing ritual
Although I don't know when I will have the time to sit down and spend 1 year chanting to kill someone or something, it's always good to have a nuclear option

General plan is traveling the world with Polkan and Ahelth while bringing my mentors along for as much as I can to discover ancient relics and buried history within long lost ruins, or even Gewrgin's corpse, and eventually returning to strike at the Empire of Light and Dark to try and create an opening for a new ruler to take their place at the top, whether its me or an aligned interest.

Dreams are future divinity leaking through your mind as per By Design. But they are still dreams with no effect in reality. Dungeons are solid dreams made by SRTR that manifest at random and are standard RPG dungeons. There are ways to manipulate them but they are very rare like Esu and would be limited to things like changing their layouts or bending their rules.
To nightmare that covers the underground is a physical phenomena that is the combination of True Dragon corpse divinity, alongside the Old Throne fake timelines and the Eternal Curse that manifests as nightmare monsters. These are not at all affected by Dream Passage as per Tankista words and are basically a darkness tide. Some dungeons can be corrupted by nightmare and start spewing monsters around but the only example we have is Bal who is being stopped by Darina. Rhucu seems to want to test the wall between dreams and reality to fuck everything up.

Wall of Rust, Drops Secretly - 47 hour cast time
Spell based on muddish philosophy, it begins the rapid internal decay of all man-made structures within the users eye-line and spreads out rapidly to connected structures over an hour. This is generally a siege magic spell used to render the defenses of a city completely unusable without anyone realising till its too late.

Revenge of Truth, Resists Self-harmingly - 3 minutes
A support spell designed to be used on the backlines when supporting a group of martial allies. It vastly increases the required precision to avoid mis-casts with all spells within a 100 meter radius. It also causes mathemagic users to suffer the same problem, except by rendering them effetively dyslexic by shuffling around numbers occasionally.

Has he made a statement before on how that'll actually function? Will you still have 10 'eyes', or only 8? Will it mean you're blind, but your blind eyes can still cycle through and use your 10 magic eyes? Or you just have 8 eyes through which you can see and use your eye powers as normal? The most charitable but logical interpretation is that these two options together blind one or two of your ten eyes, so now you have two useless 'chambers' that can't be 'loaded' with magic eyes. But since this is a CYOA and these are magic god gifts, the author might have ruled otherwise, and it'd be fair.

That directly contradicts Missed Shape's description.
>As your chosen shape was missing from the start, most methods of regeneration will not work, including all listed in the Inborn Gifts here.

It is also obviously unlikely to be the intention, because Missed Shape x8 would give 24 points and Multiocular O costs 3, meaning everyone without Multiocular O could get 21 points for free by taking it and sacrificing it.

It also contradicts the text of another section of Missed Shape:
>and you won't be able to take all-glimpse no matter what, as it requires having both of your eyes.
This is because you can take All-Glimpse with Multiocular O, it's just you can't take other eye gifts. If you could sacrifice the Multiocular O eyes, then it would necessarily be possible to have both of your eyes after Missed Shape and thus take it with all-glimpse. Which obviously isn't true.

>most methods of regeneration
It's not regeneration, 2 of your 10 eye slots are blind forever.
>Missed Shape x8
Read Missed Shape again, it says at the end that your slots from Multiocular O are excluded as natural eyes you can sacrifice. That's why I presented the possible reading that you'd still be able to get 10 magic eyes, even though I think that one is very unlikely to be the intent. So either way, no matter what, you can only take Missed Shape (eyes) twice. The text explicitly says that.

Either way I'm not here to argue with you and your inherently subjective reading of the text. No point in butting heads. I want to know if Tankista said anything about the interaction, that's it.

The outsiders are just there to take the brunt of the blame, while the elder gods just maintain plausible deniability, but the false ascension was a inside job to nuke the elves. All the greatest jobber moments were orchestrated
by the elder gods. The true dragons, the fall of the second throne, the "accidental" release of the Uruks, they probably picked Erginter so she would murder Yphont and re release the Uruks, the death of the 3rd/8th outsider was a prelude for the false ascent, Keter jobber moment was orchestrated to kill of the elfs, really Charlie is just an instrument by the elder gods to kill of the elder races.

As a follower of JNPL I always knew that the path to ascension was a path of suffering. Once I had mastered the magic, I would experiment every night, trying to make it explode in the most spectacular way. My father Stoyan was my first accidental victim, but his death was not in vain, because it further hardened my character. Nothing can stop a determined pixie bomber.

I'm going to assemble my team of fairies: Vu'uk, Zu'us, Su'uk, and Du'um, and go raiding dungeons and Ecumene. Omega with her immortality is a great addition. The idea is to stall Charlotte for a 100 years until 12th comes. And have fun while doing it.

Araith is here because I had a lot of excess destiny points, so I'm a bit worried about her. I hope she lives to see the 12th.

>the idea of dream passage 3 would be to be able to start changing the rules of the dungeons once inside, allowing them to break the number of people limit and make them grow or shrink as required, perhaps eventually creating a dungeon like the Archaia capital by stitching several dungeons together.
I wasn't going to post it but seeing that no one picked Vu'uq I felt it right to do it. She's great if you want to experiment with dungeons. The main point is to still create an army of nightmare daughters after taking control and joining both demonic cities into one.

How is it the least logical? To borrow the metaphor used earlier, I think the issue is that you think the Multiocular O are the chambers, when in actuality your eye sockets are and the Multiocular O stored eyes are the bullets. It doesn't make since that it'd be otherwise because they aren't physically eyes on your body. Its a mark on your back. If the Missed Sharp just carved off bits of your tattoo that's not really getting rid of your eyes. Likewise it wouldn't make sense that it'd be so easy to replace when its mentioned Inborn Gifts can't bring back those missing parts, which would include Multiocular O.

I should've directly stated I'm not that guy earlier, which is why I was borrowing someone else's metaphors. It's magic, they are stored in the tattoo and only are physical when you bring them out. That's why it doesn't make sense to be targeted by Missed Shape or allowed to bring them back through it. How are you going to pull out an eye into position when the position is compromised by Missed Shape? It doesn't make sense as the most logical option to assume otherwise.

I think you're treating Missing Shape like it occupies a body slot and it's not just your eyes physically not existing. In my thought it doesn't 'occupy' anything. So the ambiguity here is that Multiocular O directly says it can replace lost, physically removed, eyes, if you get blinded then you can replace that eye with any of the other eye slots you have. Direct quote from the text:
>Should you lose one particular eye, be it a Gift or your normal one, you'll still be able to fill your bleeding socket with another from your list

So by that logic if you used Missed Shape to scoop out two of your eyes, Multiocular O still has up to 8 magic eyes you purchased to put back into your head. Whether they exist physically anywhere until you bring them out is irrelevant, only the fact that the text does say it lets you replace lost eyes. That's the question being asked here, "What's the difference between two eyes lost via Missing Shape and two eyes that just got gouged out in a fight?" The later unambiguously can be fixed with Multiocular, at least as much as putting a new eyeball in your head from your pool, because the option directly tells you that you can. The former is a Malady, so it might or might not function like a regularly removed eye because of CYOA meta interaction nonsense. You are of the belief that Maladies occupy body slots, so by your logic Multiocular O can't rotate out the blinded eyes from Missing Shape because they are metaphysically blocked, but my problem here is that this conclusion, this interpretation of the Malady, isn't actually directly supported by the text at all.

>Most methods of regeneration won't work, including all listed in the Inborn Gifts here
This is the most obvious one. Multiocular O is a listed gift. So if it says that Inborn Gifts won't be able to bring it back, it seems like the most logical interpretation is that Multiocular O cannot do that.

Really what just peeves me is stating that the most logical interpretation was otherwise which is why I keep repeating it. Sure its the most logical if you ignore any line that says differently.

>You aren't losing your eyes, you never had any eyes to begin with
Physically there's no actual difference between having eye sockets that never had an eye in them versus eye sockets that used to one eyes in them, but they were completely removed later. Multiocular O explicitly lets you rotate a new eye into the later.
>This is the most obvious one
Except, again, this is not regeneration. You didn't repair the missing eye, you simply put a new eye in the socket. Just like Multiocular O lets you put one of your other eyes into your socket after said eye gets gouged out, an example that's outright listed in the option. That eye is still damaged. In a scenario where you got into a fight and someone stabbed you in your Eye for Shadows and you had Multiocular O and Evil Eye stored in it, you could put that Evil Eye into your socket and see again, but the Eye for Shadows is still stored in one of your Multiocular slots and if you brought it back out would still be damaged and blind. Regeneration is healing, nothing is healed by rotating your eye slots with Multiocular O, it is replacing. Nothing in Missing Shape says you cannot replace the eye, otherwise prosthesis or whatever implied "Stick someone's eyesballs in your head surgically" solution is implied wouldn't be possible.

With [YMRD]'s favor I'll hope for smooth sailing but sometimes things need to get interesting to get any real progress. Polkan's the guy with the head for these kind of things, so he'll serve as a navigator of sorts. The ultimate ideas guy except his ideas lead to treasure galore. Ahelth is the pilot, and Gwriel, Nezvana, and Natalja will all act as companions for our motley crew once their respective encounters are done.

Gwriel is an important setpiece however as Crown Into the Gutter will cut our journeying short and start the second act of our story. Overthrowing the Empire of Light and Dark to establish a stronger nation that won't fall to the whims of the Ecumene and be an actual presence that the other kingdoms can trust. Additionally with other Outsiders in play it'd make it a lot easier if everyone were able to make claims on the different kingdoms and rally together.

Saw I landed on Buki, and I think I mesh well with a lot of those builds. Flagellant Gambler knows how to share his suffering with others in a far more direct way that I do, Ithyl Twynis is going for high stakes plays with Word of God which I might try to ask for tutorage in since I'm almost solely using Tsifra and might be able to piece it together and try reassembling the full knowledge of Charlotte's teachings, Y'Sereth is essentially making a kingdom of Majins to ally with, and Mer's seeking of magical knowledge in any and all places makes them a good candidate to try and bring along on expeditions.

Dragon Judje was almost solo carrying the Poluden campaign, while other dragons died in droves to the elfs, for example.

Also, they were mostly killed off by Majin with a very specific esoteric interaction, inaccessible to Ecumene. Here a True Dragon can actually solo an army at least once, before they develop countermeasures.

I start by summoning many guys in a costal city to work for free on rebuilding the technological superiority of men
We do this for free, and give our creations for free, so I hopefully get alot of vril from this
I try to expand as rapidly as I can before the demons arrive in full. I enact policies to have many elf children manually as to avoid their cost that I need not get into
Also, If it is possible for angel-golems to breed I breed them (In whatever strange way that occurs)
I would hope to double in population ever 3 years, only slowed down by concerns of childbirth interupting work efforts
When humanity is back on it's feet or when the demons start showing in full I begin work on a full scale fleet. Targets near the cost are under my total control as artillery makes fortifications worthless
I am, regretably, Casual with (Physical) collateral, but humanity will thank me when this is all over. I can rebuild the hoses better anyway
Future sight means my men are usually in the right place at the right time with just enough firepower to make them completely overwhelming
Anything in from the host will either be suppressed by spies and hit teams or will be the responsibility of my allies
By the time the archdemons can come through the gates I hope they are scared shitless and seeking peace
When that happens, I will kill all of them regardless and prepare to bring [Civilisation] To the savages on the other end of the portals

Both are issues. The elves are only ageless, so the gods were mostly leaving them alone, just making sure their age is over.

Dragons were both ageless and actively antagonistic to the very idea of the narrative, so they got bonked harder. Even their descendants were clearly on the shitlist, so they were not even trying to build an empire, while elves still had multiple countries.

Outsider remains have ended up magical pretty consistently. Vtorusha became the old throne. Savmak is the sword. Yphont's tomb holds back the nightmare in a small radius around it, and Jarnigit received her walk-through-nightmare blessing from her. Erginter's corpse is similarly a holy sight for the heterodoxy, and presumably blessings come from there.

One was the student of Mithra and a champion of Mithraic humans, so his corpse was useful for what Charlie wanted to do to Entramithraic. He probably also could've been used to make Everman magical, since he was a champion of humanity and Everman is the language of humans.

I glanced the more text-heavy parts, so this is more vibe than analysis build. I'll read it all later... This ended up with similar choices to the other build posted earlier, though mine is land-based while he likes seamen.

>Ideal: Sage
>Blessings: City of God, Ascent, New and Old, Aura
>Burdens: Billions Must Die
Turtling strategy against a sea of enemies. Build formidable defenses to hold key areas and to create killzones, and slowly extend the works to gain more secure ground from the enemy. Sage's powerful divination should be of great aid in making the correct preparations. By moving forces across frontlines in advance of enemy assaults, I can gain local superiority even though heavily outnumbered overall. Technology makes all this much more effective with railway networks as just one example.

>Races: Plant Spirits, Water Spirits, Earth Spirits, Elves (Own Race)
The spirits work to create fortifications and produce resources, with notable good synergy for food production. They also act as powerful elementalists and bruisers in the army. Elves fill the other roles with their resilience and wisdom helping them stay strong and setting them to greatly benefit from Ascent.

>Followers: Civilian, Watchman, Archer, Neophyte, Miner, Paladin, Grenadier, Druid, Artisan, Giant, Champion, Valkyrie, General, Artillery, Resurrector
Lots of ranged power and defensive units to man the bastions, and crafting units to build and supply them. I don't use mounts, but Valkyries form a mobile task force. As many of the battles are defensive, resurrectors ar ebetter be able to keep casualties low (and Aura gives additional recovery). When on the offensive, I'll punch through with giants and champions and follow up by erecting fieldwork.

>Archdemon Vassals: Pharas, Giro, Likinias, Lavras, Doctor Aeclas, The Screeching Wyvern
Take out smarter enemies (and fliers) to force them to throw meat into the grinder.

>But in short, Inga Yesod was among the first people to be alarmed by the progression of the nightmare and was implementing all sorts of measures to counteract it. First, she thought that since the world is changing, humanity just has to adapt to the nightmare and embrace it instead. But after experiments on that front were unsuccessful, she started doing the opposite and rooting it out like no one did before. Most people did not understand it and thought she was just being a tyrant or delusional. She was quite successful, but it would do little good if her efforts would be undermined by other states just letting the nightmare through. So she wanted to unify the continent and finish the job.
In modern day, Empire of Light and Dark picked up the torch and does similar things but on much lesser scale within its borders - its why its color is Nightmare Blue, and why the kingdom of Tenebrae thought they were the second coming of the Dual Nightmare Monarchy and resisted.

It seems Inga is much more important than originally anticipated.

Does OR really sound Low Magic?

"Low magic"
describes a fantasy world where magical powers and items are rare, subtle, and often mysterious or feared, rather than a common or easily accessible force. Magic in these settings often has grounded, realistic limitations, is used by only a few individuals, and might only provide subtle enhancements to existing abilities instead of creating dramatic new effects. Popular examples of low magic worlds include Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings.
Characteristics of a Low Magic Setting

Rarity of Magic: Magic is not commonplace; few people ever witness it.

Subtle & Grounded Effects: Magic tends to be subtle, with effects that are difficult to distinguish from luck or natural ability, such as making someone slightly stronger or more charismatic.
Mysterious & Feared: Magic is often misunderstood, feared, or viewed with suspicion by the general populace, making those who wield it an anomaly.
Limited Accessibility: Magic items are difficult to find, create, or use, and might be limited to specific ingredients, regions, or individuals.
Focus on Realism: The world's tone can be more grounded and realistic, resembling real-world history and social structures.
Storytelling Emphasis: The scarcity of magic can emphasize compelling storylines, character relationships, and the inherent danger of using such rare powers.

How it Differs from High Magic
In contrast to high magic settings where magic is a common, integral part of the world and accessible to many, low magic places significant restrictions on its use and manifestation. Magic in high-magic settings often drives the plot, while in low-magic settings, it serves to highlight the contrast between the magical and the mundane.

Like, nothing is stopping you from saying "I will research a spell to kill all Empyreans at once because I studied the meaning of Khier for a few years" but if that were intended then all the other choices would feel weak and things like guns being powerful or Charlie defeating magic would make no sense.
The most sensible way I think of it is that regular magic shouldn't be outright better or more convenient than Inborn Gifts, so there shouldn't be a simple bulletproof spell that makes the Inborn Gift pointless. It could exist but there should be limitations to how it can be used that hold it back from being easily spammed, like it only stopping a few bullets before losing meaning and the like.

So what? Zlata being a freak or not has nothing to do with her invalidation of the bulletproof gift. And her warping projectiles instead of blocking them head-on means that her magic is just that much more efficient and better than Bulletproof Skin, thereby only adding to the fact that magic is plainly better than 90% of Inborn Gifts. Magic can clearly do a lot. Individual mage can't do anything at once. To become like Zlata you need to somehow find/invent her method, then master it. It is a lot of time and investment preventing you from learning something else at the time.

Assuming you've learnt several different methodologies like Zlata's, you need to make them work efficiently together without interference, where every mistake can blow you up.

And once you've done that, you face a final boss - devaluation of meaning. Every single cool spell you do makes the next ones work worse. More awesome spell - faster meaninglessness.

Inborn gifts and other resources are never irrelevant, because you can't replicate absolutely everything with magic in the strory's timeframe. It would be less efficient even if you have somehow managed it.

Huh, wait..
>Agelessness is what happens when the Gods still wove threads of dream in life, creating the Elder Races. Everlasting differs in that they carve out an access point to wherever the dream came from, or that they by themselves create a dream.
>Magecultists ascends and becomes True Dragons, Vtorusha ascends with the Old Throne. Their argument against each other and the Elder Gods wounds the world, damaging the previously whole story of Godscript and allowing the scattering of individual letters, creating the Majin. The Majin doesn't have their letter spells lose Meaning because they are a part of the natural world.
>The reason why they're called True Dragons is that they managed to supercharge their innate Agelessness into a form of Everlasting, through the Solipsism argument. Just as the corpses of Outsiders with Everlasting lasts far more than they should, the True Dragons lasts far more than they should and has access to dreams. The nightmare is born.
>The Outsider Aat decides to copy the True Dragon's trick but better this time, planning to spread a living inborn gift that effectively grants Elven-flavored Everlasting to everyone and counteract the nightmare. The Demon Lord Xian intervenes and forces him to make the Eternal Curse instead. This is the injustice.
>The Eternal Curse is like that because similar to the dead True Dragons, it's pulling from the dreams and reinterpreting them into a nightmare. The mixing of the Eternal Curse and Solipsism slowly erodes the Underground, because it's concentrated anti-Meaning juice. This is the curse.
Through only a few sentences, this level of reasoning is possible for Orkhalorkhan. What do you think everyone?

If we follow this thread, Rhucuphre is actually right. The whole idea of total ascension relies on a might-as-well-be-infinite amount of time at hand with the Gods guaranteeing the system's stability.

It worked fine for an unspecified amount of time, but after the War of Heaven and Earth (and shattering of the Godscript) the system is not stable. Gods can't maintain it or even return it to its rightful place, because they ARE the Godscript, a part of the problem. This is why rebellions against them get more and more successful, each damages the Godscript and diminishes them.

Defeating 0^0 achieves nothing. Even YMRD rebooting the timeline does nothing, reality is fundamentally broken and can't achieve its goal. It needs to be plunged into dream and redone anew, only then it can be whole again.

This whole conversation made me realize that a Death Slot is a kind of "power level", or a measurement of a character's ability to take on the challenges that she's invariably fated to confront.

>A: Deaths caused by biting more than you can chew, various violent fates for those who have lived by the sword and perishing by the sword. Negative net power.
>B: Deaths that are a result of dodging most dangers in your life through either prudence or sheer skill, leaving you to die of the failure of your own body. Neutral net power.
>C: Deaths, sometimes not even that, where you were able to plan around most threats to your existence. Positive net power.
>Slot-neutral: Circumstances that are either self-caused, therefore always matching your power level, or so exotic and weird that they're equally likely to happen to anyone.
>W: Omega. Fated to die by nothing less than the hand of a goddess.

Looks like the best bet is to do something like Mithra, when he connected to the Outsider system directly and added his opinion.

Doubt it could be done any time soon though, especially without alerting whoever would be maintaining it at the moment. The best window to act is actually right at the time of the CYOA. While 0^0 is holding of the Elder Gods a lot of things can be done relatively unopposed.

We just need a way to turn Ecumene's march of conquest into a stalemate to win more time.

I wouldn't say that she specifically gave out more. They were the Outsiders literal patrons so it makes sense that they play favorites with them and want to get them out of bad situations they were stuck in.
The only exceptions were Erginter who rejected her patron, Charlie who struck against [SRTR] even when she was probably pretty entertained with her adventure and Katya who picked Charlie and then went against her.
Even Vtorusha seems to have kept [JNPL] favor even after the whole War of Heaven and Earth thing.

"This world is fiction. We are the only things that are real within my sight. The rest are all disgusting lies. If this is so, then it doesn't matter what we do to others.

No matter how depraved or horrible our actions could be, I consider it all to be meaningless. In light of that, it is my obligation to drag this world through the mud and ruin the tale, whatever it might be.

There is only us, and even the narrative of fate is merely an illusion. It is up to me to prove to the storytellers that their works are worthless, to punish them for daring to make something like this.

And so, I shall inflict as much dread and suffering as I possibly can. I know they cannot avert their eyes. I shall tear out the heart of what they consider to be their marvel, for what they depict is beautiful cannot possibly be anything but abominable."

They each seem to give you what they think you need.

JNPL doesn't give a ton of free points but helps you live a charmed life with good friendships and guides you towards happy endings when the final letters trigger.
SRTR gives you grand challenges with grand rewards at the end. She's happy to see you win, and she'll even help you along in her way, but you have to earn it, and earning it means suffering.
YMRD wants you to read her stuff and bribes you with exploits that give far too many points so you will. She's also fond of rolling dice and used to bribe you with points if you were willing to indulge her.

Cold War is a good option, though a temporary one. If Charlie's push stalls for too lonf SRTR and YMRD will stack the deck enough to win, they are not very concerned with anyone taking Patientia after all.

Mithra could actually solve this situation easily, if he is indeed 'healthy'. The problem is we have no timeline on his return and it may be way too late. Researching a way to contact him might be promising.

*pic related*

Or maybe he or someone else of similar caliber is aware of the situation and drops some unsibtle hints. Even if I am reading into this too much, Caeda's gift sounds like the best starting point for that kind of project.
