Anon, I could discount my own bits boxes from two, nearly three decades in this hobby and go searching through various bits sites and marketplaces and wind up with a near-identical team for £15-20, tops. I like trench crusade, but this is kit is dogshit, just like WGA trench missionaries (which is even weirder, because usually WGA boxes are decent)

If you want a proper plastics for game thats focused on kitbashing and individualisation, the proper way to go is Northstar Frostgrave/Stargrave plastics, or most of other WGA kits, or historicals - 20-30 minis in a box, fuckton of heads, weapons, bits and random items - and then make sure that shit is reasonably interchangeable between kits .

Games Workshop is in serious trouble. And to an extent that's due to things like TC and T28.
But things in the wargaming scene flat out wouldn't have gotten there without GW letting people get that disenfranchised, and forcing them to make actual good things, themselves.
It's spent decades coasting off of genuinely top tier lore and writing, as it cuts budgets, takes the cheapest options, only ever makes stuff based on market trends, and quietly stops or works against material that might ostracize interested potential buyers.

That's worked incredibly well so far, if you only look at making money as a metric. But I genuinely think we're getting to the point where the setting has lost what made it great, and they're struggling to coast any further.

The momentum will continue for a while still. And it'll always be one of the known ones. But Warhammer is not the wargame hegemon, and GW is not the model making hegemon, that they were just a handful of years ago.
