50 is the minimum. 30 are taken by Warp Spuders and Hawks, then 10-20 are taken by Fire Dragons and then you take Corsairs/Guardians Banshees and Reapers. It adds up quite fast. You end up with something like 80-90 total in an Aspect List.

Opportunistic genocide has always been the Imperial m.o. Guilliman doesn’t control anything outside his admittedly long reach. A company of marines being dispatched to kill some knife ears in the wrong neighbour hood isn’t even something they worry him with. Unless said craftworld is a sector level threat.

That’s some local overeager commander “showing initiative” type shit.

No, he gave command to Marneus and fucked off to stabilize other places with a mixed force of underlings. And even Marneus isn’t always giving orders. Sometimes a company captain can go on his own, all it takes is the local Ordo Xenos inquisitor putting in a word at the right time and a navy admiral to provide some extra muscle. Sector governer gets a propaganda victory, lives die, Gulliman finds out months later and shrugs because theres a hive fleet currently boot fucking the Pacificus while abaddon almost killed Marneus for the fifth time.

Even that's too far desu

The best you'll ever get from any Primarch is a temporary ceasefire to deal with a greater threat, and once that threat is gone, they're absolutely 100% going back to genociding the xenos. It's coded into their DNA, it's why even Vulkan will slaughter xenos children and why no Marine has ever been corrupted by xenos, only by Chaos.

There is a planet in /mysector/ called Bastio. It's a water world with moving, floating hive cities. And for some reason they have insanely good laser tech and can provide laser destroyers to nearby factory worlds. It's a little different from normal hive cities because the lower the level, the more prestigious and wealthy the residents. The surface is fairly flat and highly radioactive. The aquatic life is monstrous and mutated. Pirates and such attack constantly (think Waterworld) and giant bunker buoys from lower levels shoot out of the water to fend them off kilometers from the hive. The mid tier levels have flooding and severe gang warfare (think bioshock). They either fight aquatic horrors, mutants, or each other. The lower levels are dry, brightly lit, and secure. The rulers of the hive live here. Pomp and circumstance, possibly fish people, etc. They'll often open an airlock, let a horror beyond belief run rampant in the populous, and hunt it down to 'save' the people and reaffirm their loyalty.

There is also a feature that all hives on the planet have. A giant tube running all the way down the hive. A lot of people have moved into the tube for various reasons. Entire cities have been built (think favelas lining a giant missile silo) in the tube. Billions of people. The tube is an anti-orbital laser weapon, which is used in my lore. The first shot atomizes everything in the barrel and doesn't perform like it should, pissing a noble off. Turns out all those people and structures reduced efficiency by 15%. He scoffs and fires another shot.

There are subnautical knights fighting off cthulus, guardsmen in "Fathom Armor" similar to big daddies patrolling the levels, mutant shark people rampaging, etc.

Just one of many planets somewhat fleshed out.

Some humans continued to have friendly relations with xenos even after the age of strife...

When the Imperium ran into these societies, they exterminated the xenos who had lived peacefully alongside the humans as equals and then enslaved the humans and worked them to death for being 'race traitors'.

The Imperium is not a nice place.

There's no proof of this. In fact, the Interex recognized the chaos corruption in the Space Marines long before the Imperium or Emperor saw it. The fact that the Space Marines in question tried to take a secure Chaos artifact for themselves only proves that further, the Interex had no interest in even touching the artifact.

There was also the Diasporex as well, who the Imperium killed just because they could even though they had no land for them to take and posed no threat to them.

And the Solitaire has fights first if it stays in combat with the Shield Captain. AND there is a start to bring it back to life if it dies in Ghosts of the Webway (The quins detachment). It started off 2v2 so that could get kind of boring when I wasn't doing anything but it dragged on so long two people had to go home and ended up in a 1v1. My single unit of 10 terminators won the whole fuckin thing for me, killing an annihilator, csm assault intercessors, an aeldari walker and two aeldari HQs. The battle against the HQs was cinematic as fuck too, the first one died to a desperate overwatch attempt due to a lucky critical wound hit on my last usable weapon, and the second killed all of the last four remaining terminators with one weapon only for them to take him down as well using only in deatg does duty end. That said, the lore makes a point of saying that the vast majority of guard will to their entire career/life without ever even seeing a space marine. See I call bullshit on this cause we see Marines and Titans deployed to VERY minor planets. Like, "this planet only has 10 million people and its only export is a small amount of raw ores" levels of minor.

The ONLY way I could see the vast majority of conflicts involving only the Imperial Guard is if there's a huge asterisk explaining that 99.9% of those conflicts involve putting down local rebellions that have even worse equipment than the Guard. Because there's absolutely no fucking way that the majority of conflicts against Xenos or Chaos don't involve Space Marines or Titans in some capacity.

Yeah the fact that not anyone can get one at anytime means they're rare. When you have trillions of lasguns for officers, only having tens of millions of power swords means they're rare. Or only have tens of billions of plasma guns. Not having a single thing on hand wouldn't mean its rare, it would be its a one of a kind archo tech and not standard equipment

Here's the thing about the Tau:
They're not THE top threat the Imperium faces...but they are up there. They're 5th place, after Chaos, Necrons, and Tyranids, and maybe Orks.

And, to complicate matters, whenever the Imperium is fighting the Tau, they're fighting an elite military force. Chaos is a much bigger threat than the Tau as a whole...but much of their ranks consist of cannon fodder cultists that are worse off than local PDFs. You can entrust the Imperial Guard to handle a large amount of Chaos and save your Space Marines for the elite threats.

You can't do that with the Tau. Their regular army is elite by Imperium standards so if they're threatening you, you have to send a proportionate response, it's not something the Imperial Guard can handle on their own, which is why even minor conflicts with the Tau tend to involve disproportionate amounts of Space Marines and Titans and DAoT weapons. So while the Tau will never be nearly as high a priority as fighting Chaos, they tend to demand a disproportionate amount of high-grade assets to fight them compared to what you see in other armies.

Lots of worlds that aren't forge worlds would produce loads of weapons and armaments. Earth isnt a forge world but look at the mass amount of stuff we make. A whole planet dedicated to weapon production would be an unimanginable scale of bullets and guns, tanks and titans being built day and night. Athens and Venice, two city states at their peaks boasted that their docks produced the finest warships their technology could make in a single day. Now scale that idea to a whole forge WORLD. Titans would not take decades to build each, maybe months if thats all you day day day one over lifetimes. A few hundred Forge worlds would still be endless amounts of armaments

Yes but just basic weapons. Hive Worlds and, to a much lesser degree, civilized worlds, aren't going to be producing titans, or any of the more advanced stuff the Imperium has. They're going to be pumping out lasguns and basic tanks like the Leman Russ.

It takes decades to build when you have to build it by hand because automation was considered heresy. The Imperium is not an empire with good infrastructure, it uses galley slaves to load ammo for their ships and instead of cameras they literally mount people on the wall.

the horus heresy and 40k are managed by two separate branches of gw
these two branches have different parts of gw's ips, different people, and receive different budgets and different pays
for gw to assign the budgets and pays to the branches they see how much that one specifically has managed to sell

if that kit was compatible with 40k too, then there's a non-zero chance that an admech player might buy that kit for their army INSTEAD of a normal 40k kit, even if he never actually cared about playing hh
that means 40k has sold less and hh has sold more, that means 40k gets less budget and hh gets more
on a large scale the compatibility of hh kits into 40k means that the hh branch "steals" sales, and thus budget, and thus pay, from the 40k branch

making the 40k kits equally compatible in hh is both impossible due to the nature of the respective ip and irrelevant because the popularity and attractivity of 40k and hh as actual games are vastly different, hh will always simply parasite 40k

that's why the two branches are effectively divorcing and in the process of separating as much of their overlaps as possible

LIBERATOR ASSAULT GROUP

-Librarian In Terminator Armor x1
*Terminators(x10)

-Chaplain w/ Jump Pack(x2)
*Death company maeines w/jump pack x10(x2)

-Primaris Librarian $42
*Infernus squad: $60

*Devastator squad x5(x2)

-Lieutenant x2
-Sanguinary priest x2
*Assault intercessorsx10(x2)

-Sanguinary guard x3(x2)

-Ballistus dreadnought

-Predator Annihilator

-Gladiator Lancer

-Rhino

The general game plan is, the terminators place a teleport homer in about the center, death company takes that space turn one letting me deep strike/rapid ingress them in and get them far up the field in the middle, while the squads of 1 lieutenant + priest + intercessors stack up in the rhinos and take the flanks. I keep the sanguinary guard in reserve to deep strike if I see the opportunity, or use them to screen if I think my opponent is looking to do so. Infernus marines follow closely behind the terminators to fire overwatch for them if they get charged, or they can just go wherever the most enemies are massed together. Everything else is just fishing to get line of site on the enemy's monsters/vehicles to blow em up

no, that's for a different reason

both 40k and aos are managed by the same branch, the division between maggotkin and shit is no different than the one between death guard and shit
the reason why they don't want 40kfags to buy demons is to convince as many long-standing players as possible to buy the newer units instead

they will separate chaos in the two systems too, but it's not to do with different branches in this case

I'm not super sure since I haven't seen many lists due to the fact they seem to have released a bit underpowered, but as far as I know they spam a lot of Hellions which are still reasonably cheap (17ppm) and they don't have good points sink models to fill out lists.
The "hot" marine list now which is all infantry runs like 50 models tops. I think Drukhari still have that beat by quite a lot unless they literally run zero infantry, which I doubt since their best detachment seems to be the shadowmark talon one and harlequins are very cheap.

alledgedly the issue is each box is barcoded to one system, so when its sold, its tallied as a sale for that system for budget distribution.

so if they squatted the mars pattern rhino, and suddenly everyone wanted rhinos buying up the 30k version it would look like 30k is selling super well

ofcourse any one with half a brain could do an atom of market research and realize that "oh thats why they're buying rhinos" but with some kits there'd always be grey areas

I think in an ideal world Custodes would be a single near-Primarch level character for Agents, Grey Knights would be a Terminator unit and a couple characters, also in Agents, and there would be one Imperial Knight kit and one Chaos Knight kit, and you could take one Knight max in Imperial or Chaos armies.

I don't have a major problem with all four of them getting their own Codexes, I'm not going to campaign against that, but I don't think it was the best move.

Plus if you remove those Codexes, that frees up space for Harlequins and Exodites to get their own books.

I'll continue to express my dislike of em if they're brought up, but I'm not enough of a sperg to attack people for collecting them. The EC headswap looks much nicer than their dumb coneheads, by the way.

That was never a thing. For the very simple reason that SoS are just a BL creation that was invented like 15 years ago, while Custodes have been part of 40k since its inception.

SoS used to even have their own codex, however that garbage sold so fucking poorly (aka nobody wanted them) that GW unceremouniously deleted it and then forcefully shoved them into the Custodes codex in the hopes of that custard players would buy them, news flash it didn't work.
Even now in 10th edition when the custodes codex reveals were made people here were annoyed about the codex because 1 of the whole detachments was SoS and using them, a thing which custodes players do not give a shit about.

It's like if the Sisters of Battle that had sold so poorly that GW removed their codex, and then shoved them into the space marine codex for the forseeable future.
