Set wise one store I know is getting 24 boxes and simply a limit of "let others be able to get some" Another no clue on count but already plan for a proper # rather than an obtuse amount which enables whales. Which is what people at that one have joked about being an issue

Talents didn't cause FaB's design mistakes. The specific words on the typeline can not cause poorly balanced cards. Doubly so when we also know most of FaB is developed per-hero not per-type.
If there were no talents at all, chances are good the worst designs would still exist.

Someone would still have had the idea of "what if we make blue heavy heroes that ALSO have massive offensive overlap?"

Elementalism gives them an excuse to push the card value you up, because of fusion of course. Every single aria hero is broken as fuck. There's talents that have heroes that aren't game warping, but enchanted Aria takes the cake. Only rivaled from Mysteria, but that was a different part of a poor design choice, over powering blue cards which happen to be so energy rich they can shrug off any form of taxation.

In general I agree with you though. I thought it would be fun to play under appreciated heroes in the new format but there's some very clear winners here, and they're usually talented.

I think I've figured it out. 5 colors + colorless/generic, any card as resource like Duel Masters + dedicated resource cards, Unsuspend/Draw/M1/Combat/M2/End, instant/quick effects, Buddyfight life. Combat works like Duel Masters/Bandaislop, but with a dedicated phase. Uses Yugioh's SEGOC and Chains.

The point isn't to make an original game, but to make something simple so people (me) can make cards based on their (my) favorite cards and aspects of other games.

What was a mistake was half the fucking pirate pool being "interact with macro" effects. A few is fine but for constructed it renders line 10 or 15 whole ass cards completely worthless.

Trying to get into one piece, got myself a starter deck and will have to visit a tcg store or something to try it out. Magic tg background, went over several rule videos, but the whole 0 mana counter cards, the mana in general (don) and the order of combat/playing cards stills seems a bit confusing to me without actually trying out the game. You guys like it? I like how cheap the cards/decks are, doesnt seem hard to get into (magic..)

I enjoy the game well enough but I quit around set 10. The core gameplay is fine but there were never many changes or new mechanics between sets. Cards tend to do whatever their color identity is and not much else. The resource system also being a way to power up your cards is a cool idea.

There's more freedom (or would be) in deck building for Gundam than One piece right?

So all I know is that One Pirate is a hero game while Gumham is a non hero game. The latter has two colors max, so if Won-pee has multiple colors, it's more diverse for deck building out the gates than Gunofqueens will ever be.

Expect leaders don't have more than 2 colors in Juan Piss so is the same restriction but more because alot of leaders have have type synergy that makes it detrimental to play other card types And thats not even counting the fact that most leaders are monocolored anyway(which means ONLY the specific color of that leader can be used).

Also there are lots of cards that say " if you leader is [x], do effect", so you can only play those in that specific leader, and there are leaders that get massive bonuses for playing a specific character type so its best to try to only use that type.

Gundam (even with the pilot linking mechanic) is WAY more flexible with deck building.

If you want freedom, play MTG, Pokemon, Yugioh, Digimon or Duel Masters.

New rules doc/revision came out earlier today and clears up at least some of the problems (e.g. Removes "relevant player" from a limitation for triggers, and gives controlling player priority after everyone dies to keep combat going with hidden stuff or actions)

The thing with volunteer organizations is someone can just decide one day to do this and that it's the most important thing ever and it's hard to say no without basically causing everything to just fall apart. It doesn't really actually speak anything to the actual ethos of the org as a whole. Infact think I know exactly who wrote these pages and they have their fingers in several of the community pies.

I'd much rather have a continuation of Netrunner with whatever unhinged wokery than literally no Netrunner, it's easy enough to ignore and you can always come on here to laugh about it during spoiler season. Unless you live in one of like 10 NSG hotbed pozzed locations you will never encounter any of this playing IRL.

Vampire The Eternal Struggle is still a thing, it's pretty cheap and if you don't mind the unnecessarily bloat of rules for every possible actions you may take, then it is also fun in the EDH way of fun. Since you pretty much need 5 players though, it has been a constant problem with my group that these "muh vtes best game ever" veterans refused to play with any less people than 5, so lot of the times the game just didn't happen. I understand it changes the dynamics but personally I think it's a game and if you have a free saturday or some shit then it's not fun to realize at the last moment that because of 1 missing person nothing will even happen.

Same kinda goes to the community, like scooping in VTES makes you immediately the retard since it changes the dynamics too much as well. Overall it may depend on the group you find but the community is a bit too try-hard for my taste for such an obscure game. Also the v5 edition change kinda fucked up the art and lore and they shilled anarchs a little bit too much in recent years that they are trying to design around nowadays but those may not concern you too much if you are not into WoD much.

You may still give it a try I guess since it does sound like your description.

Yeah I think the flavour of Seb works but is pretty mid and rushed. Just that it's a cool idea for a disabled character, honestly the entire second half of liberation is just incredibly rushed out in flavour it's sad. You have probably the best villain/corp character they've ever designed appearing for 5 seconds on a few cards and then the entire thing is solved by Mercury merking some niqqas with no help from anyone else (and then the ending is left ambiguous as to wether that did anything lol)

1. Decks seem hard to gain the cards to build them for. Massive card pools and insane chase card price keep driving up prices
2. No one WANTS to learn new systems so getting friends into it is hard
3. Proprietary card matt is amazing also but again another barrier
4. Tbh I love sorcery as a concept and wishes they actually enforced a mandatory card requirement for minimum number of ordinary cards

I honestly just use the precons and play the game as a board game because it's insanely balanced

CyberOne, Bandai's failed digital-physical hybrid TCG

tarted in 2011 and ended in 2013, it was only alive for a year and a half.

Each card came with a unique code to register the card in the CyberOne online game - which means the secondary market was nonexistent. You couldn't play the cards physically either since the game not only relied on the game doing calculations, but the game was essentially autoplay - the main focus was on building an optimal 10 card deck that your AI could play efficiently.

The largest issue was balance. The game had a faction system which had faction locked cards... and there were no rules on the maximum copies of the same card in a deck.

The game was destroyed by the Red faction having access to a faction exclusive card that was cheap, aggressive, hasty, was buffed when attacked, and also buffed itself depending on the amount of Red faction cards on your side of the field. You included 10 of these cards in your deck and facerolle

The best way to describe this new release model is a zooming in of the scope and spending time in a specific location, getting to know specific people. The broader campaign has you traveling far and wide, meeting a variety of people and mapping out various places. I think the main campaign for EBG, Stewards of the Valley, should still be the primary focus of your adventures. This is more content shoveled on as a departure from the norm, and generally people who have already beat the campaign and need something to sink their teeth into in-between major campaign expansions. In short, play right away. It's a really fun game and the deckbuilding experience is very rewarding.

Hate to break it to you but there's also a non campaign emergent mode of just exploring locations and clearing content. Gameplay is 100% drop in and drop out co-op friendly. You can meet up with stranger Rangers and hike with them for a bit and then return to your weekly play sessions with your main campaign. You upgrade your deck by meeting elders in the field that can teach you new professions, which comes in the form of archiving a card in your ranger kit to swap it with a card of your choice from the collection. So playing more means more chances to refresh your deck with new cards.

Game's brilliant. You should try the demo. It has like 3 sessions plus worth of content, and it's free.

I'll start, this set had arguably the most hype around it than any other set in Digimon.
I remember trying to pick up a box from my locals only to find out it was sold out in less than 3 hours, which is a first since the scene has been dominated by Magic and Yugioh since forever and the store had bought 2 cases of this which to this day it's considered too much when you take to account how many people play/buy Digimon here.
Great set for both players and collectors, especially the knights themselves who to this day have some kind of meta presence or collectors value.

Late answer but I'm hooked to the cards. So far got 2 starters which I've improved, buggy and blackbeard (both were very cheap, max 20 + at deck).
Got myself ahem 4 displays (yes I went hard after those starter decks) and I've had alot of fun sorting and listing cards on card market too. I think one piece cards are so much more beautiful than for example magic, esp nu-magic which is mostly digital art done on some screen/drawpad and it's super noticeable. Makes me want to collect some just for the art. Some really cheap cards (like 1or under ) are soooo pretty. I feel I understand the flow of the game now too, esp with buggy bb seems harder, gonna go either to the pre release or Tuesday one piece at my local tcg store.

I haven't tried 1v1 but my commander group has played maybe 10 or so games of 4 player Riftbound in the past month and we enjoy it.
It's a simpler game but the battlefield stuff is pretty fun and leads to interesting game states.
The mana system is also cool. I like the risk reward of recycling runes, putting yourself down in mana for future turns to get an advantage right away. I feel I've lost or won games based on recycling at the right or wrong time.
Laslty, it's quite easy to learn and teach. Most people I think could probably pick it up and be able to play without help after just a couple turns.

Keyforge's faction-based system is probably my favorite. It gives you critical decisions nearly every turn, even if you don't realize it.

The system itself is basic energy ramp, but you had to assign cores onto your monsters to keep them on the field or level them up for stronger stats and effects, in addition to spending them for summoning or playing cards. You can move them around freely as well, so it adds a nice mathy bit to the game as you balance your resources around what you need to do for the turn. Apparently the game is getting a revamp that gets rid of levels though, no idea how that will feel like

They got 5 boxes total, and have pack limits, but put one aside for me, at 70% of market price. Seems pretty generous to me. But just to spite you, maybe I won't even open it, just hold it for "investment".

I’m looking to get into TCGs, and I’ve kinda narrowed it down to Magic or Riftbond, but also open to other suggestions. I’d love some advice from experienced players!

Some points I’m taking into consideration:

I’m in New Zealand so the local scene for more niche games like Sorcery is non-existent

I wouldn’t want to play very competitively, just as a hobby to collect cool cards and do some social gaming

I’m a queer woman so the less toxic the community the better (I know this depends on your local scene, but still)

Somewhat related to the above, unfortunately Lorcana is out because I just really don’t like the IP

I know almost nothing about League but the IP looks interesting enough, and I’ve been meaning to watch Arcane

There are weekly game nights for both MtG Commander and Riftbound (soon) at several of my LGS

Any advice? I’m mainly concerned about Magic’s apparently complex/clunky commander gameplay, and the League community’s reputation. I like the idea of both having 30 years of cards to hunt for second hand (MtG) and getting in on the ground floor (Riftbound). I prefer the art of Magic, and I really wish Sorcery was a thing here because the art is STUNNING.
