Liberty Belle and Tom Sawyer Rafts Final Voyages Edition

>Last Thread: >>2794115

>What is this thread? Why are there two companies?
Disney parks were initially founded as a way to celebrate the culture and history of America and provide middle class families with a fun-filled immersive experience. While theme parks are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other roller coasters & rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /rcg/ comes in.
>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?
Absolutely! Disney and Universal are currently competing for the Orlando theme park market and beyond! Universal is opening new resorts all around the US and new continents!

Of course this is the largest single fucking document for universal GB

Other things to note so far:

>Only 5 full fireworks shows a year permitted with no restrictions on occasional pyro.
>115m above ground maximum ride height (confirmed to be for a rollercoaster, BTTF spike height?) 75m maximum hotel height (500 rooms minimum), 40m blanket permission for theming
>multistory carpark with 7,106 spaces (probably the only theme park with a multistory in the UK).
>8.5m annual visitors, 55,000 peak attendance expected.

Great theming, great lift hill, good ride length, a surprisingly forceful backwards section, just the right amount of weightlessness on the big drop without making it too intense (read that some people don't even realise that they've gone down it). Then it ends the ride with a comfy flat high speed set of curves to give the more nervous a chance to laugh and go 'phew' now that the drop is done with.

Was also the first of the "family+" coasters where they're designing coasters to go to the limits of what families will take and also one that came before Launches flattened out layouts of the types of coasters a lot more.

It's really not. I've been hearing about it from disneyfags for years and finally got the chance to ride it this year. It's definitely well above average, but I think people's appreciation for it stems from how lacking in creativity rides built in the early 2010s till just recently have been. It looks goated only by comparison. I would say it's mogged by The Mummy, Big Thunder, and obviously Guardians. If they could do the ride over with a working animatronic and more distinct features to extend the ride time like BTM it could have been the greatest, but the entire experience is building up to one encounter and that encounter happens so quickly and the animatronic doesnt even move. You meet Imhotep like 5 times on Mummy and the pacing is much better.

If it has any outdoor element at all it would shut down in bad weather, defeating the entire point.

I really like the Mummy coaster but man, I really wish that when they did the improvements, they'd replaced the cardboard cutouts in the dark section.

On a related note, they've just finished the refurb work at BTM in Paris and it looks great again. Best version of the coaster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a10WaOeqPrA

BTM is honestly one of the greatest dark rides of all time, but because it's outside and a rollercoaster people don't consider it that way. You feel like you go on this epic quest and you visit all of these distinct areas as you loop back and forth and the ride feels like it goes on forever and there's no gaps in the theming. I don't think something like this would ever be built today because the narrative designers wouldn't trust the audiences to be smart enough to tell their own story through what they observe naturally. There would be distinct "thing" you needed to look at like on Hagrid's rather than focusing on shaping an overall vibe. They also put a way more design work into the theming of the scenery than they put into entire lands now.

Universal GB seems a likely contender for getting a ride based on it, looked on the concept art like it was getting an indoor JP ride but a there's a lot of placeholder art on it. Wouldn't be the worst thing though if it was like the Beijing Jurassic World.

The BTTF spike coaster seems confirmed by the planning documents, will be the tallest coaster in Europe. 115m could be close to 9 seconds of airtime

If it crosses the billion dollar threshold it will likely get a ride. Fun fact, you can predict Universal's next ride by consulting this spreadsheet on wikipedia. If it cracks a certain return threshold, it gets a ride. Wicked will get a green check soon enough, James Bond is confirmed for USGB so it gets one also. Soulless suits run the company and all they care about is money. They will happily churn out the same slop every year and ruin their studio's reputation if it buys them a 5th house in the Maldives.

>>2799458
It spiritually qualifies because it takes elements of dark rides. It isn't a normal coaster, jackass.

>>2799460
I don't mean a story with a plot that goes A-B-C. I mean that when you ride, the overall vibe of the location is the "story". Your experience is up to you, rather than directly being told a story.

It's one of those indoor coasters that feels more intense than it really is because you feel g-forces more when you're distracted by theming elements or darkness and can't see the track ahead.
It is however extremely overrated as well as Epcot itself. Luckily for you there's a three day ticket deal this year for Epcot, AK and DHS that comes out to around $89 per day if you start your five day window on a monday or tuesday. Just avoid Epcot on the weekend like the plague, do all three parks in the middle of the week. Animal Kingdom ain't that great either, but it's basically the free park you get when you do the ticket package. Get there early in the morning at park open and hit pandora and everest. For Epcot do the same thing except don't do cosmic rewind first unless you have early entry. do world showcase first then do the future world attractions in the afternoon/evening. go back to world showcase for luminous.

Or you could just skip WDW all together since its gay as hell and sucks and the clientele are insufferable and do a four day ticket deal for Universal instead. One day for each park, including volcano bay or do two days at Epic Universe but if you do that, get a three day ticket for the other parks and an Epic one-day.

theres your problem, coasters have things you cant experience through a video. It gets its cock sucked because it physically better than the last two coasters disney put up. Its a fine ride but there are obvious places where disney just didn't care when it came to set dressing. Got the Spaceship earth end tunnel curtain drape treatment in a bunch of places. Hard to do theming in a dark empty warehouse without sacrificing the coasters space and thrill. It not worth getting a ticket alone for but if you ever go its worth the hour or two you might stand in line.

It’s not. And it’s been broken for almost 20 years. If you never rode it with a working yeti then you’ve never ridden the real attraction. The room was lit up and the yeti swung at you (in typical Disney arm flailing animatronic fashion). It was extremely disappointing to see the yeti broken when I went with friends and was showing them the ride in 2007. And it’s been like that ever since

They would have to close that glamping resort they just opened last year if they get rid of the safari section. Great Adventure is still a good park even without Ka and the other removals. The attendance drop started before that. To go from 4 million annually to what they’re doing now at a location nearly halfway between NYC and Philly is nuts. That shouldn’t happen.

Yeah I’m tired of the sensationalist click bait but to be fair I’ll also see it onreddit and faceberg too. “Millennium is broke down/stuck” Who cares? I waited 3 hours for MilF and raptor back in the day when they had DJs in the queue and today people act like this is unacceptable. Social media and apps and queue times gives people insight into closed rides so everybody thinks the ride closures are getting worse when before they just didn’t know about them. This stuff always happened.

I go to Cedar Point because it’s my home park so I don’t count. But even if it wasn’t my home park, I would want to go there at least once because of their top 4 alone (now possibly top 5). They also have their own hotels and their own beach. The chain will always invest heavier into it than others because despite being in the middle of nowhere, Ohio, it probably makes the most money (not just the park but the resorts too). Cedar Fair was started when Cedar Point bought Valleyfair. And now Cedar Fair runs Six Flags, a merger of “equals” where SF got 49% over CF’s 51% and CF is in charge. Cedar Point is the chain’s primary park.

That's because no one has ever wanted to copy another coaster's lift hill noise. It's just a ratchet that stops you from rolling back, every manufacturer uses them. Literally never heard anyone talk about loud lifts except occasionally on an RMC. You are definitely on the spectrum if a kids ride causes you this much discomfort. No one else is bothered by it, believe us

Yes there is. You see, each manufacturer has their own anti-rollback design that they use. This means that each manufacturer's lifts will sound different. >377ft max height of structures
the UK government is in a very weak spot currently so I hope this gets forced through by them. Local Councils love nothing more than to reject this.
Considering majority of places close at 11pm in London, and Manchester is slowly following suit, I really hope the 2am close gets approved.

the 377ft max height sounds amazing. If a coaster is built to that height its the tallest in Europe. Theyre being really ambitious here. I was expecting this UK park to be a mishmash clone of their non-US parks but sounds like this is very ambitious.

Rides like Gringotts and that Uncharted Coaster would have far better capacity if they stopped with all of the motion simulation rooms. Since has Mummy is a very similar set up of 12-seated cars in Hollywood Studios and Florida, and the capacity of them are 1800 riders for a single lane set up and 2200 on a double lane set up.

Gringotts should have been a direct rip off of the mummy, but the problem is I cant think of a single story reason for the Gringotts coaster to be in full darkness which is what is required for an indoor launch coaster to hide the track. I just rode it last week and honestly it's kinda growing on me now that the disappointment over the lack of rollercoaster elements has worn off. It's actually pretty cool, but it could have been way better and 80% of it is just looking at cave rocks or videos. The issue with it is it seeks to adhere strictly to the story of the movie rather than branching out do it its own thing. Hagrid's branched out and created a whole new non-canon experience and was able to deliver banger elements the whole time. Gringotts should have been a tour of the more fantastical elements of Gringotts with animatronic troll guards and the dragon that only appeared as screen elements to move similar to Monsters Unchained. Makes me wish they'd get into the habit of ride remasters. It's way cheaper to add things to existing rides to renew interest rather than allow them to languish long enough for them to fall into disrepair justifying their removal.

I think it's a massively popular project and there are no good reasons to reject it. It's even subsiding a bunch of much needed transport upgrades in the area. I think even the Greens wouldn't die on the hill of blocking it. The 2am means they're planning on HHN which is great. A bit of a shame it'll overshadow Tully's Farm a bit but it could actually end up boosting them as horror mazes are a bit of an unknown thing to most brits.

At the moment it looks were getting a pretty good selection of IPs to make it a good destination. They were pretty adamant about not eating into Florida trips

So far this seems to be what it's getting:

>BTTF coaster
>Jurassic Park indoor ride (probably similar to the Beijing one)
>Jurassic Park dueling drop towers
>Mystery coaster possibly Jurassic Park but I'm skeptical, I think this is an unknown theme. I also think the coaster is either a surf coaster or a riding one, it's the only thing that makes sense with that layout
>James Bond stunt show
>Paddington dark ride, playground and flat ride
>minion land with kiddie coaster (probably not a clone of the Beijing one as that was a Chinese manufacturer but likely close)
>minion Mayhem
>Secret Life of pets or other Illumination darkride, the building is too closed off and too weirdly shaped for it to be a store or restaurant.
>Dreamworks Theatre (Kung Fu Panda)
>mystery building themed to shrek (possibly something like Beijings KFP land with tightly packed flats, games and a dark ride, could be an artist having fun)
>Mystery building with zero theming (LOTR?)

I think all signs are pointing to Zelda land currently being in development and breaking ground around 2027 to coincide with the movie. There have also been UCs poking around the MIB corner wearing pokemon shirts so take at that as you will.

The invert's heyday has been over for a while. I'd like to see a new breed of invert focused more on overall thrills than intensity: fewer inversions, not as snappy, overall lower G's. I think that's what BGW was going for with BBW but didn't go high or long enough. A new invert with a 'normal' lift height of 90-150 feet with 2-3 good inversions and doesn't whip riders around too hard would be ideal.

Not many parks are buying new inverts (because they're too expensive or already have one) so if that's what the industry ends up gravitating toward, the change will be a slow one.

I hate the screens as much as you do. They’re holding off on Zelda simply because they aren’t making its movie.
My guess on this plan is that they consider a Zelda land like this to be a Gringotts of Epic, based on the lost woods. And the Lost continent would be for hyrule.
> She's never getting in, bro. It will never happen.

The river and wooded island keeps the "park" in "theme park".
While there are dozens of train museums in the US where you can experience a steam locomotive, there are very few functional steam paddle wheelers anywhere.
Theme parks need spaces where you can explore or rest at your own pace while looking at something pleasant.
The island provides that in spades. Universal has made several attempts at this with the Seuss walkthroughs, interactive Potter areas, JP visitor center, Mario games, and Celestial park (which will look better in a few years as the plants grow up more), but none emulate the simple forested area of Tom Sawyer Island, or attempt to have natural caves or historical buildings.
The new Cars zone, even if you throw away the IP, is themed to a MODERN national park, something you can see in most states of the US, and because of the ride, most of the area won't be walkable, and a bunch will just be brown dirt.

Inverted coasters gained a bad reputation from dueling dragons and intamin’s screw ups with them.
Spinning coasters and spike coasters are gaining massive attention since they change the ride experiences from anything else the park offers on their coaster lineups. And simply how well received they are in the coaster market for general and advanced audiences. Universal themselves shifted from regular great coasters and instantly went for these archetypes for their newest main parks.

>Inverted coasters gained a bad reputation from dueling dragons and intamin’s screw ups with them.
I disagree. The market just got saturated because virtually every park that could afford one installed one. Inverts were really really big in the 90s, they quickly eclipsed the stand-up as B&M's signature type of coaster, but by the mid 00s they were run of the mill attractions.
Everyone in the industry understands DD got axed because of guests not following rules. What Intamin screw ups are you talking about? I don't remember any offhand but it's been a while.

Personally I think the spinning coaster's popularity will end up being a fad. I've never known anyone who liked one more than a standard coaster. From my experience they're gimmicks.

Blame the fall of the ottoman empire at the end of the WW1 letting inhumane european political powers mismanage the middle east leading to the yom kippur war and the final death kneel of what was left of the persian empire for causing both Magic Kingdom's and Epcot's development to suffer in their baby years respectively ultimately leading us to the sad state of whack-a-mole construction projects we get today. Frontierland got fucked hard and I wouldn't be surprised if it and surrounding elements further destruction has to do with some executive level justification about how the majority of the area is an adopted abortion of what it was supposed to be. Have a feeling most of the people extremely angry over TSI and RoA going are really projecting their displeasure of what happened to splash mountain but were afraid of looking racist back then. Pirates was never supposed to be at the magic kingdom wonder if they'll ever rip that out finally.

1. It's being rethemed to be a park. I don't know how you can get more "park" than that, at least nominally speaking.
2. Yes, I understand that losing the riverboat is a big loss, but it's effectively the only loss:
3. The exploration value of Tom Sawer is negligible. Although I do not have kids myself, I never see many over there and when I myself was a kid I didn't care for it. The main attraction there was always the barrel bridges and most times I've been to MK we completely skipped it. I know MK isn't all about what *I* want but I'm just giving anecdote. For every claimed relaxation benefit TSI has, the break room at storybook circus does it way better (picrel).
5. If carsland park is something you can see in most states, Rivers of America is something you can see right outside the park gate on seven seas lagoon (You even get the steam boat)(if you squint really hard). I'm not kidding, if you really needed to rest and cool off while looking at some water, ride the ferry to the TTC and back. Tom Sawyer is that replaceable.
6. Walkable space with cars land - if i had to guesstimate- should stay roughly the same. I think all of the concept and theories show Villains land taking the bulk of the actual river from Fort Langhorn and up.

Like I'm not a rabid Tom Sawyer hater but it's completely unremarkable to me except for the riverboat which you can't count. And with the riverboat I don't believe Disney will dismantle it or anything, although I suppose they can still disappoint me. Parking it by Grand Floridian or even making it fully operational for firework viewings on the lake is my ideal outcome and I'm not the only person with this thought. It's pretty much made for that, you could pump in Happily Ever After soundtrack through the existing speakers. And they can bring it out for weddings too. I'm not very worried about the boat's future as long as Disney can profit from it which they can. But maybe they're too retarded for even that, I don't know.

Find out what level of ride she likes, find out the best parks for that. If you're going to solo the big coasters, remember to tell her in advance and to also give her treats so she doesn't get pissed off waiting around for you. Don't try to force her on coasters way above what she can take, she is very unlikely to have a good time.

Her best idea is "poaching" pokemon from universal, but that would surely be so expensive for Disney I doubt they'd get a ROI ever.
Also she calls IP lands a fad that will go away eventually. So her response is to come up with generic themes that suck worse than the worst IP.
>dinosaur frontierland because dinosaurs are universally loved and "kids want the toys" (she's just bitter that universal doesnt use Land Before Time)
Except Universal does all of that 10x better and people have dinosaur fatigue now
>adventureland except it's run by spiders
lol
>lunar caverns
Literally just her being a nostalgic millenial woman again

Also she has a parkwide idea of sorting guests into one of several teams like knockoff hogwarts houses and tracking team data like rides ridden, food bought, to rank teams from worst to best. This has multiple logistical hurdles but at the end of the day it would just be a crummy social experiment highlighting lack of societal cohesion.
It's less a realistic brainstorm of what a Disney EU competitor would look like and more what she would make to cater to her own desires if she was given billions of dollars.

I first went ~1997 it was maximum comfy (despite the infamous birthday cake). They have lost so much soul, worst thing was removing all the cafes where you could sit and people watch for an hour.

I will say that one of the best things about modern Disney is the improved food quality (outside of the loss of the hand made cakes) with a big focus on novelty treats. Mediocre burgers and fries places still exist but it's more of a fact that its because families want them more than them being lazy and cheapening out.

Disneyland Paris' Park food is pretty close to what Magic Kingdom used to be like and is pretty shit. The new restaurants are much better though and the Hunters Lodge buffet in one of the hotels is god tier so maybe they'll catch up eventually, The main park is in desperate need of every restaurant getting a new menu though.

Shit, I forgot to mention that in the post. Add it to the list of things that were changed for no reason to make the land worse. I personally love Liberty Square as a sort of entrance to Frontierland. I like the theming of it, I enjoy the Hall of Presidents, and I honestly prefer the riverfront, colonial style haunted Mansion to the New Orleans one, though that may be because I'm more familiar with it. I don't think Liberty Square is some stunning masterpiece, but I think it's a perfectly fine mini-land which synergized really well with Frontierland. Now it's going to bordering on fucking Cars land.

They're not splitting Zelda into two lands. It's still a very niche IP and doesn't have blow up potential like potter did. Whatever they put on the expansion pad is all zelda is going to be. I'm still flabbergasted that zelda is even being considered but I guess I should get used to millennials now being an economic demographic they want to court

Splitting that fortune 3 ways is still more economically lucrative than spamming zelda lands everywhere. I'm calling it now, when Pokemon makes it into the parks the hype and popularity is gonna make harry potter look like toon lagoon. What pokemon fans have been clamoring for, and what pokemon go briefly popularized, was catching pokemon in real life. If they can provide that experience in a highly thematic world, it's gonna send Disney to the fucking shadow realm. Pokemon is a level of popular you can't begin to fathom. Do not be surprised if Pokemon gets put in the Simpsons corner, blows the fuck up, and then takes over a land in Islands.

Just watched the video.

It's impressive just how terrible her ideas are.

Wider themed lands rather than hyper themed immersive universes? I can get behind that and so can theme park makers, We just had Fantasy Springs after all and it looks great. I think she's underplaying longevity of IPs though. a 5 year old visiting the park now will probably have grandkids that grow up with new Mario games being released. HTTYD will age and the franchise itself could be a bit creaky in 15+ years time but... It's dragons and vikings, that will always appeal.

Her ideas for lands are really really bad. A Spider Kingdom? Disney will spend a lot of money on an attraction that a large % of the population have some level of phobia for, a significant portion of which have a phobia debilitating enough for them not to even walk through the land. The enchanted forest type fantasy land with original fairies? Parks have made them before and they'll continue to make them but... it's not really Disney is it? Even if most of the rides aren't IPs, the park still needs an identity to tie it to them.

The house system... Spider-man, Minions and Mario Kart show that there's a lot of fun with competitiveness but none of them provide you with a diminished outcome if either you're shit or the people you're with are shit. The second your enjoyment becomes contingent on you, or worse, other people being good, it goes to shit. 90% of people on MiB get that 1 bugbait ending (when there are 35 available), Smugglers Run turns into an utter shit ride if you've a poor pilot.

Could you imagine pitching to an executive: "we're going to have great merchandise... but we're only going to sell it to 25% of our guests"

Had a great time here yesterday. Last time I went was in 2004 when I was 10 and they only had 4 roller coasters, so I was definitely pleased to see the improved lineup. Almost every ride had a wait under 15 minute, so I rode all the ones I wanted to at least twice, usually in the front. If you can get coasters this good with lines this short anywhere else, let me know because I would want to try that place.

The park is fucking huge. My watch says I walked 14 miles. I intentionally didn't take the train or gondola for >muh steps, but still. I imagine it's a difficult one for families. The theming is fun but pretty surface level. Definitely no Epcot.

Is a park having short lines for its flagship rides on the weekend a sign of financial trouble? I mean if I was walking on to Guardians of the Galaxy on a Sunday night in July with good weather, I would assume Disney's park division was in deep shit.

The house system is terrible because it would tilt toward whatever everyone considered the cool one. The park could tilt it back, but at that point the competition is just a mirage.

Great Adventure news:
Great Adventure has reportingly cancelled Dead Man's Party, which is the centerpiece show for their Fright Fest since 1999 and arguably the most visited entertainment for the park all year. They were casting for this as late as May. This comes after confirmed cancellation of a planned summer event and a magician show residency that was instead moved to Knotts
Some are trying to say Holiday in the Park is also getting cancelled this year but there's no evidence for that yet

I don't know if it's because of how high capacity it is or if people are genuinely plebs that refuse to ride the best ride in the park because it doesn't have a big popular movie attached to it. Maybe people just like the roller coaster more because it feels different from the other rides in the park. Especially when the rides are different every time you go on it. And the ride experience is about a minute long, with no slow downs, despite it being very short on track. Which is good to prevent the ride from being too extreme when the spinning is great. It only needs to add forced spin launches to allow for the coaster to be a lot more consistent.

It's the capacity guys. It chews through crowds and when I went and the line was 45 minutes long I was walking forward the entire time. It's actually insane how efficient it is. COTWW has to wait for loading and unloading, as does Ministry and all of the other coasters. Monsters is pushing 4 guests through every 7 seconds and taking 4 guests off every 7 seconds. That's 42 guests a minute compared to a coaster which is dispatching 16-24 riders every minute or Minecart Madness which is dispatching only like 12. so it just rips through crowds of people and the only place it gets backed up is before the preshow

They have measures of how many people ride each day. The TMs hand count them with these clickers. I'm also sure at this point they have technology can detect riders so they have an accurate count. They aren't dumb enough to think small wait = less popular

Why aren't more ""unconventional"" entertainment options not explored at the major theme parks? Im talking like mini golf, escape rooms, game shows, etc. The argument against such things is that you can go pretty much anywhere to play mini golf but on the flip side nobody would do minigolf better than the big parks with theming and tech gimmicks.
My big idea is iirc Disney owns ABC which has Wheel of fortune. Why can't they plop a spinoff attraction in hollywood studios? Have guests opt in a bingo ball lottery to compete for small prizes while the rest just watch at their leisure. Tape every round and charge people for the edited video via disney photopass or whatever they call it. Obviously it doesn't need to be wheel of fortune since its maybe past its prime but anything, it could be an original idea and be a family group game like family feud. Seems very low maintenance and who WOULDNT love to be on a "game show" and pay for the video? If universal has ever done something like this forgive me for I know little about them.

Disney and Universal do both have mini golf on their properties. Putting it in the parks themselves would be a disaster though. It's bad enough waiting for others to finish playing the hole in front of you at your local place. Imagine how fucking slow it would be at Magic Kingdom with not only kids playing slow, but also people taking 30 selfies at every hole.

Wish they'd adjust the popeye ride and tone down the water. Rapids aren't fun if everyone always gets soaked through, you want some people to get drenched so you can laugh at them and the rest to just get the occasional splash. I found the first level fast passes to be worth it in April ($30/day or so). You want to schedule those as early as possible because after you use them you can schedule something else. Use the app today and check the line times so you have an idea of what you want to use them on.

Rope dropping is always a good idea if you’re up for it. The worst lines at each park are the Avatar flight ride, Guardians of the Galaxy, Rise of the Resistance (or sometimes Slinky Dog Dash, which is far less impressive but probably the worst line overall in Hollywood) and Tron, Tiana’s or Seven Dwarfs.

Park hopper is also probably worth it since Animal Kingdom and arguably others are half day parks.

Fireworks kill lines, so use that to your advantage.

Rope dropping for 7D, Slinky, Tiana is worth it to some extent as those rides are all a lot less frustrating if you've only waited 15-20m for them. You can also get a lot of the fantasyland dark rides done quickly after 7D.

Rise of the Resistance has generally long queues but the wait times fluctuate massively through the say (guess it has a huge capacity?) so you can gamble a bit if you'd rather do Slinky on rope drop.

This could be a bad anecdote so pinch of salt, but in my experience don't think too hard about fastpasses. Just take what you can get rather than staring at your phone trying to roll the slots for a better timeslot on E tickets. It only gets harder if you have a bigger group. Rope dropping is not new or secret and basically worthless if you aren't early park hours guests so look out for that. For at least Magic kingdom the only real bitches are seven dwarfs and space mountain. The rest are manageable standbys at worst but casual fastpassing helps a lot if youre small group or solo.
Regardless of what you do at any park my biggest advice is just prioritize earlier passes regardless if it's a high value ride or not. Breeze through lines while you can rather than hope you luck out on the top prizes. If you can stay til near park close it mellows out a little.

>>2801002

rope drop slinky dog and do rise of resistance later in the day. the queue for rise is air conditioned while slinky dog is entirely outdoors.
when going in september, try to do rides with indoor queues in the middle of the day, even if they're gonna be a little longer, to escape the heat.

also: buy the fastpasses, you haven't been in decades and it's not worth penny-pinching away the ability to skip lines when you've been away for this long.

Fair point about the obnoxious wait times. Last time I went mini golfing it was some overpriced Top Golf style place and it was packed.
My first fix would be to require reservations in 10-15 minute increments to space people out. Not great throughput I admit, but my thinking is that mini courses can be crammed into tight or oddly shaped spaces and incorporated into landscaping and enhance scenery/queues. My fixation is maximizing real estate.

We've gone over this and I really doubt it. They're not gonna do Mummy, Indoor Coaster, Gringotts all in one line. I would put the betting odds for the Supercharged replacement as either the Kuka arm or the Ministry system. Studios doesn't have either and Universal always reuses dark ride systems at least once so Ministry system is most likely imo. Islands doesn't have the space so it has to be Studios.

>>2801127
So if the coaster is Fast and Furious: Kissimmee Drift, not only does it liberate mankind from the continued existence of Supercharged, it also opens up Fallon to being turned back into Ghostbusters which I think is what the Firehouse notice and blogpost were about.

We've been saying Studios needs several big additions to bring it up to par with Epic and it seems Universal has agreed. We could be getting three new rides and the removal of two dogshit ones pretty soon. Based. Theme park wars are heating up.

If they don't want just a show or simulator, I think it'd be cool to use the Dynamic Motion Stage for Ghostbusters. It looks quite compact, so I'm wondering if they might be able to fit one into that Fallon space.

They totally would. After their work on Hollywood drift, they would easily have a better time making an intamin spinner for a family BTTF ride simply by how the trains are.
> Universal always reuses dark ride systems at least once so Ministry system is most likely imo.
Nah. Ministry caused too many issues on its testing that they’re better off with a different family attraction altogether. While Gringotts had issues because it was stalling too much on screens. And the Mummy serves as USF’s highest capacity attractions because it doesn’t stall up on screens. If Hollywood drift works out, they could use this train instead.

> it also opens up Fallon to being turned back into Ghostbusters which I think is what the Firehouse notice and blogpost were about.
What if they went with a Falcon’s Attractions ON!X theater. Something they might be doing with Luigi’s mansion right now.

Falcon’s attraction’s ON!X theater might be the card they’re pulling to implement proper gameplay of being ghost busters after their bad experiences with minion blast.
They could be planning to open multiple attractions per year to allow their parks to take in more guests. So by freeing up the fire house, they would be able to squeeze in two attractions for the price of one.

Go direct with Disney, you won't find it notably cheaper anywhere else. You may be able to get cashback though. Watch out for offers, so long as you're not going peak summer or Xmas, they usually have some sort of offer on, if your booking just misses a cut off for one it can be worth waiting. Remember you get free parking at the Paris hotels which can make it not that more expensive than a surrounding hotel, all but the Davy Crockett ranch are walkable to the parks.

Hotel tier list is Davy Crockett (unless you're a large family and/or want at least 3 separate beds) << Santa Fe < Cheyenne < Sequoia lodge < Newport Bay < Marvel < Disneyland hotel. Unlike the US, the hotels do actually vary in price massively based on demand.

I'd say the parks are 2 full days, especially if there's someone who wants to do the kiddie rides, shows and you're going to do the Toy Story flat rides.

If you want to do the Marvel hotel evening buffet, Cinderella's royal table or Pym's kitchen, you need to book up the seats as soon as they become available (all the breakfast buffets are near identical so you can do the cheapest one)

I'm not gonna lie I asked this cause I watched Super Enthused's video on a staycation at Disney All star movies and it really put the idea in my head.
Heavily biased towards finding a sprawling new-to-me Disney resort I can explore with the comfyness of Disney bubble. I intend on getting the cheapest annual pass before I go. I've never been to Disney without feeling obligated to maximize the day. Even though we've always lived close by, whenever we went it was once a year at most and we always made it count.

I'm not exaggerating or joking when I say I have had many nightmares about being late to Disneyland or wasting time while I'm there. Cynically you could say I got mind raped into being a slave to Disney's rat race. But I think I'm just slightly autistic. In high school lunch hour I sat alone at my table reading disney world wiki articles and turned down girls offering invites to their table.

I'm theorizing that if I finally get an AP and visit more, I can dilly-dally and remove the weird disturbance in my subconscious that screams at me to rope drop, hound the fast pass system, and stay til close.

I want multiple different areas and for it to feel like an epic journey navigating it. LOTR is a timeless IP and it deserves a land that blows everything else away

>>2801431
It has to be very specific types of IPs that are at a threshold of popularity that can justify multiple attractions and tons of merch sales. An IP with a fanbase that is already spending a shitload of money every year on merch and media. LOTR as I said previously is the most obvious one.

It's a full day park if you pay for the $39/person Elephant tour or $49/person Rhino tour where you actually touch a rhino.
The Savor the Savanna and Wild Africa Trek are super expensive, but the food is good, and the cast members running them always seem happy to be there and enjoy what they do.

I hated Pandora and thought it insisted upon itself. It was not naturally interesting and I'm convinced the positive sentiment people have towards it was forced and is just because it's an attempt at immersion from Disney. When I go to Diagon Alley, I am naturally made curious to explore the world they have made there. I did not feel that with Pandora.

Like why the fuck is Pandora coming to California Adventure and not the Monsters Inc land. There's already a Monsters Inc ride here for fucks sake and it fits the themeing in the area lot better than Avatar. Any animal you see in the land is on a screen with the exception of like two Space Ammonite things hanging out in a pond that barely work, there's no Na'vi presence outside, and the implications of even going to Pandora are counterintuitive to the rest of the park in that it means that all the conservation efforts and protecting the Earth stuff is destined to fail since Avatar's Earth is such a bleak dying shithole that people will gladly abandon it and their own species to try again on Planet B.

If you go in September, you can definitely encounter short waits with the right strategy. The last two years, I was able to do 7 houses in the first hour and a half (plus stay and scream) with no express. This year, I'm gambling on HHN and September's already lower crowds to hit up Epic on a Saturday. I'll be sure to post here confirming whether the crowds are manageable and also share any good HHN strategy I find.

My strategy last year (and the year before with slight differences) was this:
>Enter the New York Stay and Scream.
>Two houses open very early here, the big IP and either an original or smaller IP.
>Get in line for the smaller house while everyone else qeues for the big one.
>After getting out, check if general admission has been let in early.
>If not, hop in line for the third NY house which opens a bit later.
>If they have been let in, just head for F&F house and wait for it to open.
>After exiting the F&F house, the GA crowds will definitely be in the park and mostly hitting the big IPs at the front of the park.
>Head to the back, and do the two houses by Fear Factor.
>After this, go to the Simpsons house, skipping the MiB house.
>You will exit at the MiB house and can now get in that queue.
>If the queue is short enough, you may be able to catch the first showing of Nightmare Fuel.
>At this point, you have at least six houses done.
>Go and some food around 9 as this is when I find lines to generally be the highest throughout the park.
>From this point out, it's a matter of checking the app and understanding that wait times update very slowly. If a line shows 30 minutes or less for awhile, it is almost guaranteed to be longer than that. If it shows 45 minutes or higher for a long time, it is likely to be lower. I literally had multiple walk-ons of original houses because I realized they were stuck at 50 minutes or so for over half an hour.
It should be noted that Fallout is allegedly in the back of the park this year, so that could shift crowd paterns a bit. I always autistically post what strategy worked best for me after my three days the first week of September in the hopes it'll help someone, so if things change, you'll see it here.

I don't get this Universal horror shit. Literally I read one of the houses one year had literal shit effect and feces smells radiated in. Really, this is what people want? Waiting in a long line with sweaty men slowly walking forward, jumpscares happening way in front of you so even if you somehow feel being frightened is somehow fun you are spoiled early, with shit smells radiating in while you see some mild gore? With no pleasant moments for you?
How is this """fun"""

I don't remember it being bad. It's well north of Chicago, which is crucially very far from the west side and south side of the city. Compare that to where Six Flags Over Georgia is located. Very few urban moms are using Great America as a baby sitter.
>Sounds like crowds aren't going to be a concern anytime soon there though.
They actually were a concern, though I was there on a Saturday. I wanted to get a fast pass but their website raised the prices by the hour the morning of and it made me feel really anti-semitic. You could probably ride everything in one Saturday without one, but barely.

>unpleasant
your perception is everything. if you are actually a scaredy cat with the mentality of a child then yeah it might be unpleasant because being scared of a haunt means your perception of reality is immature ie based on a fantasy interpretation of reality. it you know its fake like an adult or person over the age of ten, then the experience is not unpleasant whatsoever, but actually the opposite of that. haunts, haunted houses, and dark rides are the epitome of themed entertainment. it's like combining the world of immersion and live entertainment into one, like merging the fiction of stage performance and the elements of real world tangible experiences into one.
if you don't find the format of entertainment/amusement compelling then you are simply a mental midget with no sense of reality and no taste, objectively.
it's no wonder disney adults dislike HHN, because their autistic brains are permanently in fantasy child mindset mode. scary mature themes are simply bad and cannot exist in the world of theme parks because they like all that stuff because they have a child's mind in an adult body. a universalchad enjoys HHN and theme parks because they are fun and thrilling and thats why any normal non-stunted person enjoys any theme park stuff..
just because some of share the same interests doesnt mean we are alike whatsoever. actually, the disney adults are the reason there is a stigma attached to having theme parks as an interest because a lot of people dont understand that theres a normal way to consume them and a way that makes you a social pariah, ie an autistic manchild.
in short:
>you are making us all look bad so kindly stop being such a pussy or shut up and stop making everyone think theme parks are for kids and losers like yourself

We have park hoppers so we can be flexible, but if we get Lightning Lanes then we'd need to know what parks we're going to first on each day. Magic Kingdom is open until 10:00 most nights, but Tuesday and Friday they close at 6:00 for the Halloween thing that we don't have tickets to.

Even funnier when people got catty about it when they saw a family loaded up with em, smug smiles plastered on their face. Wonder how those people feel now that they blew money on a piece of mass produced plastic with the intent to re-sell but got left holding disneys bag. Must've felt stupid when they brought it back the following years. I still believe the supposed ebay listing that sold was manufactured by disney because the inventory wasn't moving, just like how they got influencers to shill that one spiky starbuck cup after its run because there was so much stock loitering around world of disney.

And Disney actually didn't prepare for it succeeding let alone playing a hand in it, they kept talking up to that point of replacing the ride with Muppets or Inside Out or even Phineas and Ferb. Figment being popular isn't new and they had plenty of stock that they expected to sell. The only reason I assume they didnt take measures after the fact was that line itself created a FOMO effect more than speculative future resale a bunch got in the line for. Disney didn't want the line shit happening again the next year so they made it mobile order only but I think after a couple weeks they just let people walk up and buy it because it wasnt the artificial hot item they propped it up to be like the year prior. You're foolish if you don't think disney had some hand in the mythical first ebay sale.

It depends on who you're talking about. Some employees always knew he was a favorite and were expecting some sales, not to the level they had (which is why the sold out quickly first day) but they made it because they expected it to sell to some degree, and arguably pushing for the characters continued existence.
Execs and management didn't know shit about the character, who they tried to remove in the 2000s as we know and multiple times in the 2010s. Some said they had no idea who it was until they got the news all talking about this character having Disney's biggest merch line in a decade. That's why he had things before, but he was used a LOT more post popcorn bucket.
Thing is not only did later years have FAR more stock then the first, but also you cannot make fire strike twice. You will get people buying them still but you wont get the mania of the only one and the first year. It succeeded naturally, and corporate cant put their hand in and make something popular that naturally like you suggest

All Great Adventure needed to do was improve quality and operations. That is it, they had the lineup and the size and prime location to be the biggest regional in the US, that is why they were doing great in the 2010s even with shit operations, they just needed the quality Hershey was bringing. They didn't need to tear the flagship down (though GL should have gone for a small replacement) and they chose the demolish park option instead
Even now, with the supposed Cedar ownership revamp, the quality and operations are horrible. Food still shit, worse jewish policies then before, rides on worse breakdowns. Today log flume and rapids (both down for weeks after larger maintenance), Toro, Flash, Batman, and half of HH was broke for the day. A weekend a few weeks ago Toro, Nitro, Batman, Jersey Devil, and both flume and rapids were down. At that point what does the park even have? Not that it mattered since there is no attendance and everything is walk-on even on weekends besides Flash. But hey they put new mulch in and cleaned up the 90s Superman signs!
There is no excuse for how bad they are doing when they have the single best land opportunity for a regional park in the US, it is all on bad management, not only Six Flags over decades but also Cedar Fair in the last year. Ka demolishment without telling anyone before and it being on the news is just the thing that got people to quit on it. Because they cant even get to step 1 of making operations good

It was the second year excess inventory they made so much of it but yes, they shipped it off to Shanghai last year and made an exclusive straw clip merch piece only avaliable to them and sold it as "Disney's dragon of imagination" instead of an import from America and from a ride
I always saw it as a corporate test to see if the character's design could sell in Asia and if he could catch on without established notability and ride and just based off the design itself, to see if he could be taken international later.
Wonder how it ended up.

I don't blame them for that. If they'd announced it ahead of time they would have caught hell from thoosies and the rest of the public. It's usual for parks to close rides without fanfare or an announcement anyway. Still a shitty looking park now though

I blame them for very bad communication and PR
Largely because it goes even beyond thoseies. If they just gave up to a month and upfront said "Ka is closing with a record 400ft replacement in 2026, come get your last rides in and celebrate" then that news would have been made it through with the closing news. Which there was never going to be a perfect way to break it, but not only less anger later but it is better then the general public finding out by turning on the news to see Ka being demolished one day and thinking Flash is the replacement (even news sites reported it was) or the park is closing

Typically, she ranks one or two points higher on the attractiveness scale than he does, and he's wearing the types of clothing men would never think to own, indicating she basically dresses him. These men are spiritually identical to a toy poodle or a handbag. They are an accessory and mentally hollowed out enough so that she may fill the void with her overbearing personality. Although going into detail about this topic isn't really /rcg related, i feel obligated to say coming from someone with 25 years of experience dating and long term relationships,
the cost of having sex with physically desirable females these days is definitely not worth it.
I don't think most of these guys are as desperate as you think. Most dudes getting laid are normies and extraverts themselves and have no problem going from fleshlight to fleshlight, even after a committed relationship or marriage. Being tied into a union with a self-obsessed/narcissistic/personality disordered & societally conditioned conformist like 99% of women becomes something you thought you needed because an attractive woman in your life has been drilled into your head as the ultimate achievement but when it comes to things like selfie sticking yourself like you're alluding to, or constantly arguing and fighting or having no sense of trust whatsoever, your feelings of desperation or fear of abandonment suddenly dissipate. Maybe the dudes who've never had a true girlfriend in their life before get that way in their first serious relationship find themselves with oneitis or whatever cringey term they use on body building forums but anyone with experience dating throughout a significant portion of their lives will tell you its not worth it.
If you're a thoosie or theme park enthusiast the best thing you could ever find is a partner on the same level of nerdiness, and obviously that applies to any sort of interest. The opposites attract shit is just plain propaganda to incite relationship unrest in the masses and divorce. Prioritize finding someone who's like you mentally, spiritually, politically and/or interest-wise and avoid wasting years of your life and causing yourself untold levels of grief and suffering. Social status and feeling good about being with a hot girl are simply not worth the cost. So what if she's a tier below you in looks, the value far outweighs the alternative.

ZDT’s Amusement Park in Seguin, Texas will be permanently closing next month. This is due to the owners retiring and them basically doing everything to keep it viable as a small operation (they even did ride maintenance themselves) not that it failed
By far most notable thing here is Switchback, the only shuttle wood coaster. They are selling rides so very likely it ends up somewhere

yes it is, and it looks like shit. the twitter comments are too kind. the animatronic is not impressive especially compared to the movement and look of the frankensteins and death eaters

What’s the appeal of most wooden roller coasters? Yes, yes,
>muh phoenix
>muh toro
yeah I get it. I’m not talking about those which can obviously go toe to toe with a steel. But what’s the appeal of stuff like Lightning Racer, Invadr and Giant Dipper (Santa Cruz). I mean Giant Dipper you can appreciate for the history, but the other two aren’t even that old, nor are they very thrilling. Is it just larp? Everyone pretending to be a kid at Coney Island in the 1920 who saved up money from his paper route to have the best day of his life? Far as I can tell steel coasters outnumber woodies 25:1 for a reason.

I mean consider Gwazi. It was a decently liked double woodie, then ridership thinned, maintenance was a nightmare, they added steel and now it’s the crown jewel of the park.

To finally get rid of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.
They have been trying since the 70s to do so, they cannot because purists bitch everytime they try to since Walt made it and it was maybe his most passion project attraction. This despite it being the definite example of purist crying about trying to remove it but don't support it attraction, given it is infamous for low attendance over the last 50 years, usually 10 or less people in a 500 seat theater.
So replace him with the man itself and say Lincoln will return after a year, and either it never returns or they say they made a mistake making a Walt animatronic and replace it with a Frozen show or something

Wooden coasters are liked because of their roughness and bouncy natures that’s softened by the wood holding it in place.
Steel coasters are normally designed for smoothness in mind because of how bad the blowback is when they are rough.

Question about Universal Orlando, is it worth staying at their property? I made a booking for Cabana Bay but I'm looking at Drury Inn by Universal and it seems like a no brainer when they offer free breakfast, dinner, and drinks to guests at a cheaper price than Universal. Gonna be staying for 5 nights so I feel like that helps save some money in buying food especially when Universal's food is not that great imo. The close walk and early admission at Cabana Bay seem like the only positives to me but I'm not sure it'll be too big of a deal going first week of November?

Cabana Bay is a great family resort. If your group is "too grownup" or otherwise unentertained by bowling arcades and lazy rivers maybe try somewhere else. I've stayed at their suites twice but never actually been to universal.
If I was that worried about paying for food I would buy groceries from the nearest store, so I can't really answer your question. I would have to know just how much extra it is to stay in universal.

Face is too small? Skin looks like it's from someone 40 years younger (possibly needed for a durable animatronic)?

They always try to sneak out things that will be unpopular with the purists
ROA? Do not announce its removal at the con but on a blog post a day later
Muppets? Take 6 months to announce its closer and throw it in with a post about Muppets getting a new coaster
Lincoln? Close it down for a year to make this and promise it will return "a year" after the Walt attraction debuts, then one day just remove it from the website

Pretty much. The only coasters I found to be genuinely uncomfortable had "potholes" on the track.
Hades 360 has one in the tunnel out, but the layout was so good I still rode it 8 times on my only Mt. Olympus visit
Raven had a genuinely nasty one on one of its turns this year
Nopuko' rollover is godawful for this. The transition is still bad after the retrack, but at least it isn't back-breaking anymore

Bat wing is one of the best rides there.
Superman is simple but the forces on it can be extreme.
The wild one is better than Roar and is one of the best rides there debatably.
Ragin Cajin is alot more intense than it looks. Ride it if you want some thrills. The line is also reasonable for a small-capacity attraction.

Don’t go on upgraded mind-eraser
Other six flags feature the flat rides in America but Wonder Woman does serve its purpose as a break kind of experience.
Harley Quinn is going to be intense regardless of how frequently used this flat rides model is at many six flags.

Neverending Story Part 2 is extremely underrated. It had the mysterious esoteric nature of the first film with kino roger corman-esque b-movie effects and aesthetics thrown in. I feel like people hate it because the first one mogs it, but as a cheap fantasy flick, it stands pretty well on its own, especially when you compare it to the slop of today.
When he forgets the dead mom and they show her on her deathbed after showing her tucking him in it made me feel suicidal in a neat trash cinema way.
