I'd say that's generally true; but I can think of one notable exception and that's Larry David. If you watched the latest batch of Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes since he got Trump Derangement Syndrome you see a definite decline in quality and a marked increase in the degree of agenda message pushing; but at the same time he's still capable of being funny and there are episodes where they lay off the message and the comedy comes through.

I mention this because I feel that the Hollywood agenda is more insidious than just being a crutch for has beens to lean on to try and be relevant again. I think "empathy" as its sold to us by modern society is most commonly based upon emotional response not understanding and more to the point there is generally someone else telling you who you're supposed to be empathizing with and who you're not supposed to be empathizing with.

Consider the current topic of comedy. If I make a joke about a white working class person being poor, or stupid, or poorly educated or uncouth then the zeitgeist tells me that this is a funny joke. On the other hand if I make the same joke about a black working class person being poor or stupid then the zeitgeist tells me that I'm cruel and insensitive. Its the same joke only in one instance the target is approved by society and in the other instance its not.

This isn't empathy, its conformity. These people are told to sympathize with a minority and so they do. While if they are told to hate another minority who stands in opposition to the system say a Russian or an Iranian then suddenly the empathy disappears.

True empathy is objective, its standing up for the rights of the people who oppose you as well as those you deem on your side. Picking sides is just identity politics.

The problem is that within Western nations under capitalism, hunger was almost completely eradicated so the left decided that in order to maintain their arguments they needed to mass import economically worthless migrants from the third world to effectively manufacture more and more poverty. Everyone already agreed that feeding those people within their own nations was far more cost-effective and better for social cohesion but the left is more interested in maintaining relevance than building a perfect society.
