Watched Madame Aema (movie) to see how it compared to what was shown in Aema (drama). Surprisingly the movie isn't much more explicit than the drama. Relatively modest even. Neither of the cuts shown in the drama are that faithful to the movie storyline, especially the endings which were both their own thing. It was a slog to watch but comparing scenes was fun at least.
Didn't notice until now but the actress who originally played Aema makes a cameo in the drama too

when dudes say "i wish a cute k-girl would bully me" we think it'll be something like out of a harem anime where the girl bullys the guy but not too strongly and in a girly way, like when they hit you on your shoulder lightly with her dainty hands looking cute.

When The Stars Gossip was not well received in general when it aired, kdg probably has the most positive reaction to it. It did really poorly for tvN and was likely a pretty big financial disaster. When a drama flops in such a high profile manner like that, it attracts extra negative attention that may or may not be deserved.
It's a divisive drama. Personally it was not for me, but some anons really loved it. You'll have to try it yourself

personally loved most of it - it ton of tropes I like and was pretty much on the ball as far as what I want out of a kdrama. the female lead's character and her actress's performance were probably the highlights, holy shit bros she was so good. the writing quality dipped a bit at the end though and the ending in particular felt really weak, almost like it went against some of the themes that the show was seemingly trying to express. still I'd say it's like 8.5-9 for me because everything before then was superb

I've watched a few dramas and been browsing MDL (that's actually how I found out about Twinkling Watermelon), though it seems like it has 'MAL syndrome' where the top-rated shows is popular/recent stuff that everyone more or less likes, but the real kinos are hidden in the 8.x ratings. Appreciate the recs too, I'll check out Head over Heels, Bon Appetit, Your Majesty seems really cool as well. And yeah, Cheong-Ah is adorable, I want to protect her smile.
