>>712398337>>712347152webm related is from the demo of ninja gaiden: ragebound
>>712469320 (OP)man I was really excited but ended up unwishlisting this game. it didn't feel like ninja gaiden at all
I was prepared to not like Dispatch but it was surprisingly decent, and it has actual gameplay too. I hope they don't do anything retarded with the story and it's not an episodic release.
>>712469320 (OP)>Share and discuss demos (share with pictures, webms, with names clearly indicated) no
>>712469819Same. I love Blasphemous and Ninja Gaiden Black but Ragebound felt so bland. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance looks too have more satisfying gameplay though.
>>712469819yeah, I'm still gonna play it, but my expectations were admittedly very high and the demo was quite a bit below those.

>>712469819Which Ninja Gaiden were you hoping it would feel like? I assume it's modelled more on the NES games with all the one-hit kills and everything.

>>712469320 (OP)Really liked Pigface, despite it being rough around the edges. Hope they wouldn't ruin the full release. Because I feel like they might if there are too few missions to play.
So, mina the Hollower...not feeling it

>Atlas Hands
These throwback faux retro first person have really exploded. This one is really well done and has some interesting mechanics. You harvest energy balls from enemies and slot them into generators to power different devices. Your gun can add torque to objects, which is how you manipulate enemies and their cores.
It even looks good, comparatively.
>game plays well and has nice style
>but it's a roguelite
>>712472585it wasn't bad, it just wasn't great either. it felt like it was missing something
I get what people mean about the perspective stuff being hard to understand sometimes but it wasn't too big a problem
I think it needs a map or something. as is the world's construction seemed pretty disjointed, idk
>>712472585I wasn't big on Shovel Knight either so meh.

Only thing that keeps me from playing a game is if it is chink shit
I tried out into le grid based on one of u fag's recs
I like it and there's good potential here for a solid cardslop game. I like how open ended it is with your choices and direction, but it can get easy to feel lost
I'm enjoying it, but I think I'm getting filtered. Have jobbed a few times to threat 2 ices. Found a couple synergies but am struggling to make them work efficiently

Why is every indie game trying to collect my data nowadays?
>>712474562More profitable than actual products
>>712469819it's a collab between a firm that makes pixel art and a game dev that only makes gamemaker demos
>>712474427Not him but pirate Nine Sols and see if that changes your mind. You might not enjoy it, but if you don't end up at least respecting it - you have less soul than a chinese chairman.

>>712474562Probably because they think they will actually scour through like 50000 error reports across all the players they get. I just say no every time and continue playing.

I guess the idea behind this game is dark souls combat and stamina system mixed with sekiro parry emphasis and none of the fun stuff from the latter game. Also the game is locked at a 4:3 video ratio for added visual displeasure. I'm glad I played this because I think I'm all DarkEldenDemonSoulsBorneKiro'd out.

Extra level in Theta and Paralldox on Worldlines made me smile stupidly, can't wait for full release
Why do indie 2d platformers insist on putting a tutorial on every game? Don't they realize their only market audience? No normie is going out of their way to buy their game. Don't they understand people have enough brains to press A to jump?

It has a very slow start and the environments could use more variety, but it's solid for a two-person project. Pretty good tension. Wish they'd let you savescum in this though, I got killed after placing a ladder in a bad spot and falling through the map, and had to restart from the checkpoint

>>712484847I get what you're saying. I put cheap in quotations because I lacked a better word to describe it. I would've rather them just made a traditional beat-em up with a short story. Like Streets of Rage 4 for example. I feel like a lot of Roguelites/likes justify throwing a coherent story out the window in favour of a vague sense of "choose your own adventure".
Haste, for me, was the same way. I would've rather the game had had ""normal"" video game progression with ability unlocks and boosts etc to make the character faster and faster the further you got, maybe some different builds even. As it is now, whether you get a fast run or a super-sonic power fantasy is completely up to RNG, and if you fail or the game crashes-- too bad. I guess I don't like the rug pull.

ninja gaiden ragebound's gameplay is completely prescriptive, the levels and encounters are specifically designed in a way that gives you very obvious sequences you should be doing things. execution is another matter, but the routing is done for you, you don't figure it out, it is shown to you. and when the game is so prescriptive about the order you should be defeating enemies, then where exactly is that supposed depth you're talking about?
there's no depth, you're just making noise.

>>712494513Literally not true. You didn't play enough of it. You can S rank stages doing multiple different things. You can play slower and explore to get collectibles and add shit up or you can try to maximize your combo and maximizing combo is a mix of different things. You have multiple moves at your disposal and that's just the demo which is very early on. The only thing that is "prescribed" is where the glowing enemies are but that's only part of the gameplay, really you could just skip those enemies if you wanted and it wouldn't hurt your score if you got the minimum combo for the level which from the levels available are pretty lenient.
YOU are the retard for not exploring the game enough and are looking at the surface and are ASSUMING there is nothing more. Go fuck yourself.

>>712482667Absolum being a roguelike is the only way you'll get 40+ hours out of a beat-em-up, which are traditionally more like 40 minutes long, especially once you get good at it. Sure there's routing and scoring and higher difficulty modes, but for the majority of the gaming public these aren't things they consider when they play these games. This is also why Shredder's Revenge's story was four times the length of an average Beat-Em-Up. Otherwise it won't sell.

Anyone play the Tormented Souls 2 demo?
The first game's demo surprised me with the intro nude scene (which was sadly the only one, and the model doesn't have a vagoo either) and the gameplay is alright.
>>712493972>>712494262Well this is news to me which now explains the fundamental design flaws. I saw the older demo from itch and even though the game was updated visually (for the worse) the gameplay was not.
It makes perfect sense they/them'd focus on the superficial things instead of improving the soulsKiro gameplay formula.
Also as a palette cleanser I recommend checking out the cute yet ballbustingly hard fishing rhythm game recommended in a previous thread.

I loved Ninja Gaiden on the NES, I'm proud of the fact I actually managed to beat it when I was really young, but it's the most bullshitty pitfall baiting trial and error perfect execution bullshit I ever had the pleasure of overcoming. (couldn't ever finish Ghouls and Ghosts, I didn't have the patience remaining)
>>712480583This time I was very busy and didn't have time to do my usual deep dive at this SNF and just starting today, thanks for the list germanon
>>712472585It's about as good as a faithful Gameboy Color game can be, which as it turns out is not really that good. I don't blame them. They did a great job making what they wanted to make but what they wanted to make just doesn't score very high for me. It's still on my wishlist but not a high priority.
>>712501515I finished the demo without ever getting over that chasm, it's not necessary to reach the boss. IIRC the signal decrypter thing is in the room across from where you get the ability to dodge upwards, you have to shoot the switches above it to access it.
>>712503556Isn't this that girl from Fairy Tail
>>712503556why won't she friend?
>>712503295I finished it recently and thought it was pretty good. You do have to memorise a lot, but it's not so bad. I like how the constantly respawning enemies kind of force you to move forward without ever stopping, like a ninja would. I worried Ragebound wouldn't have the same time pressure but it seems like they did manage to find ways to add it.
Finishing the NES game as a kid must've made it feel rougher though for sure.

There's air combos, juggles, parries, guardbreaks, sidesteps and punish counters, and of course the aesthetics are great. I think anyone into beat-em-ups/fighting games should give it a try, it's a free demo after all!

>>712506026and that's a good thing!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2052300/Glaciered/
Okay so I thought this one would be more DMC-like but it's actually a mash a trigger to attack, occasionally shoot with controller aim, spam the dodge button, and press X to awesome (sword slash edition).
I didn't die once during the demo and that's probably due to abusing the spammable dodge. It has an upgrade system and what looks like tiers of weapons with levels to swap out in and out of in addition to a levelling system for upping damage from the mentioned damage types. Very disappointing gameplay from the demo but it could get better with more upgrades, and the frozen-over underwater world is interesting enough despite the bombardment of dialog.
>>712506272Not him but
>If the woman wanted it that way, perhaps her husband isn't worthy of her or the opposite wayYou're bedding a whore. If her husband wasn't worthy - she would have left before jumping on another dick or better yet not marry a man she's not devoted to enough to spend the rest of her life with like a spouse should. You, meanwhile, are subjecting another man to the life of unknowingly being with a whore, at least until she either gets caught red handed or tries to fuck someone with integrity who will sell her ass out. You're pathetic AND evil.
>One might even do them a favor and show them that the relationship isn't as strong as they thoughtIf you're planning to coax the whore into proving she's a whore only to then snitch on her to her husband, maybe. But no. You're fucking a whore who is someone's wife. You're just pathetic and evil, that's where it begins and ends.

heartworm is clearly taking based game design from old re but story seems more in line with silent hill. You have a camera that temporarily fucks with enemies bu as far as I can tell tehre's no way to permanently defeat them (but maybe that changes later). Seems higher effort than the average re clone but I'm not too interested in this kind of game.
>>712508078So the way it works now is that items you get in your runs can have their values increased by other items, but if you die in the dungeon, the values are cut in half, so now you balance between going all of the way or cutting it short to have higher value items to sell. You still play as Will and the demo had two melee weapons to go with; regular sword or metal gauntlets.

because this fest was lacking in games I personally found interesting, I decided to try some demos from february that I hadn't gotten around to. one of those was risimon. I think I remember someone saying it was actually pretty good if you could get past the cringe, and holy fuck I can't get past the cringe. if they dialed back their attempts at humor by a factor of 10, this could be a great game. they're clearly skilled at a lot of things, the pixel art in particular looks great, but I just about shot myself when my mon learned the move hawk tuah
if any mysteryfags are disappointed by the offerings of this fest, check out type-noise shonen shojo and detective instinct if you haven't already. only got around to their demos now, and they're both really solid
>>712500159>>712501515you need to fight 3 hidden bosses (they're gold colored and bigger version of the mob), you trigger that by using radio at the gold mob statues, and then use radio at certain location to trigger the fight. Utterly useless for reselling, but very useful to determine what weapons players prefer, what levels players find hardest, etc. It's also a much better way to know what's going on in your game than listening to loud dickheads on Steam forums who may be loud but are often less than 1% of the players.
