>>712542181>That's funny because people hate on TPP for not being dark enough like GZ and handling the serious tonal whiplash with more levity and grace as opposed to being borderline a Saw movie.a lot of people wanted more of what we know of big boss from previous games, with more dialogue and quippy lines. a lot of other people (with some overlap) wanted to be served something that more overtly shows "men becoming demons" than what we got. there are different people with different wants, but the most resounding negative response to MGSV was "this is not metal gear". also, you're splitting up TPP and GZ as if they are different games when they aren't. there were massive complaints about GZ and how it handled the rape of paz extremely poorly, was not a good analogue to abu ghraib, and made much worse by the fact that the series is half comedy.
>Sounds like Metal Gear fans just have no idea what they want.on the one hand, yes. fans of anything are often incoherent in their wants. they want "a realistic, down to earth show that is completely off the wall and swarming with magical robots".
on the other hand, anything will sound incoherent when you start conflating voices from conflicting sides.
>>712542537>He doesn't discard it. But I also disagree with "cannot", it's his, he can do what he wants with it.it is mostly discarded. a tape about "miller's maxi buns" does not equate to even a tiny fraction of the silly shit in previous games. and sure, he could do what he wants with it. stephen king could also write a story about how pennywise becomes a silly TV clown and it is entirely lighthearted and fun with no scary elements. but the audience will respond with the knowledge of the character, the previous tone of IT, and everything. you cannot just wipe the slate clean entirely, people already have ideas in their head. he cannot do it because he cannot control what is in people's heads.
