I had a really intense conversation with a friend of mine via Discord who says that any actions you make in a video game is a reflection on who you are. He said this because I told him I decided to do an evil playthrough of the Mass Effect Trilogy and started preaching me about how you should be a better person and "do better" because it's a reflection on who you are. I told him no that's not the case because video games are not REAL. But he kept insisting that the more evil shit you do in a video game, the more it shows about you as a human being. Fucking bullshit dumbass fuckhead. Doesn't know shit about me. Who's with me here? just because you make good or bad actions in a video game does not fucking mean it's an actual reflection of yourself as a human being that's absolutely fucking dogshit crazy. I think it does tell about a person the choices they make for a certain extent. In Mass Effect for example, a racist person is probably less likely to cure the genophage than a non-racist person, or from a different POV, someone that thinks more with logic than emotions.
I think at end depends of how serious a person takes a game to begin with and how much they self insert.
Also, a lot of people do the good options expecting a reward, and get mad when a game makes the good option less rewarding, that also tells a lot about the person i think.

Depending on the game in question it can reveal aspects of a person's character, but it's highly dependent on so many factors that I would never make a general statement that it can reveal anyone's character for sure.
In short, no, doing evil options in videogames does not make you evil, and whether they are in fact "evil" is not up to some arbitrary blue/red dichotomy.

This is pretty well put. If one takes even a thought experiment seriously, then it can be very revealing of his character. If one boots up some shit like gta to go on a killing spree, that doesn't at all mean he would do the same in real life given the chance, although it does imply the possibility of an inclination towards it, some connection to it. Motives and principles aren't also necessarily as simple as a binary would/wouldn't.
