The issue with her is she's still always in the background during major parts of the original trilogy. She doesn't help Luke train and she doesn't meet up with Yoda despite both of those actively helping her stop Anakin. Even if she resents what happened it's still insane she's not there for Luke or the Rebellion during very important parts and ultimately makes Luke think he's the only Jedi out there after Yoda and Obi-Wan died when you don't count Leia.

She's the only over person in the galaxy that would have caused Vader to turn on Palpatine, but her dying to her former master on Malachor makes Luke all the more special. It's because Filioni failed to properly put Ashoka into the larger lore and mythos outside of T-canon. She's not like Dash Rendar, who shows up in AHA and the start of ESB (but of course in the remasters after SoTE). The nu-canon is built around TCW and Filioni, but it never properly fits to the films, in fact it contradicts them.

I honestly never understood the "redemption" that Clone Wars got. Like yeah, it go significantly better after that initial film but it never really became good, despite some real highlights here and there.
Despite the exaggeration Genndy' CW show was a significantly better artistic endeavor, simply because Tartakovsky is an actual artist that actually does good things instead of just being a competent studio head that can rely on a solid IP for work. And some of the work from the multimedia project also had better standouts than TCW ever did.
I don't like reducing people and trends to their basic components because it's lazy and probably wrong, but it seems to be literally just nostalgia, just like the renewed "appreciation" for the Prequels, which still arent good.
