Deck is too underpowered for me. I upgraded to a Rog Ally X and never looked back. The literally 2x battery life is a godsend. If Valve ever makes a Deck they better double the battery size.

I've owned a Deck since early November and while I've definitely enjoyed it and played it a ton, haven't even touched my switch since I got it, I can definitely understand where the dislike and criticism is coming from.

You can't play literally just every and any Steam game on it and a lot of the games I've wanted to play on it the fucking controls don't even register at all.

Controller configs. Worst case if nobody has made one for a game yet you can map it yourself, steam makes it super easy. Sure it's kind of a hassle, but I've played hundreds of games on my deck at this point and it's pretty rare. Out of all the games I've tried, regardless of verification ratings, there's been only one that refused to start and even that had a solution, I just haven't cared to do it yet.

Deck is a side gig for Valve, an experiment and its been a success by their metrics, their core market is people who own PCs and laptops, they have the money to invest in experimental stuff like the Deck
Deck has also inspired a number of similar products like the Asus Rog Ally and that new Xbox handheld, the Deck wasn't gonna be a blowout success like a traditional console, it was marketed towards a niche of PC gamers, which it has been successful with and is growing in popularity, it helps that the Deck isn't just a console either, its also a PC that you can tinker with all you want

The trackpad is something I cant live without and it's only on the deck so it makes what would be the perfect handheld device into a mediocre one because it lacks power. Also the price is too much. A Z1 extreme device like the ally is $400 maximum used on eBay.

You could make the argument if it doesn't run at 60fps on the deck it shouldn't be played. That's a lot of games.

People make the mistake of thinking the hardware is valve's aim with the deck, when it isn't. It's a vehicle to drive steamos/proton adoption. Valve's winning strategy here is getting everyone else to make the hardware for them and then loading it up with their software, making it a steam device.

I love my steam deck, I understand tendies get pissy cause they thought mobile gaming was something only nintendo could do, but desu they're missing out the most not having one cause a deck will emulate all the tendie software that isn't available on the switch/s2 easily.
