You keep coming back. You keep making yourself relevant. You keep showing up and generating reasons for people to *keep* talking about you non-stop. This generates discussion which generates interest which generates money. It's the wet dream of making infinite money while working less because you only need to get out snippets of shit instead of an entire work.

This is why there's so many live service games. They all want that pie. If you get "in" the discussion stream, you're set. It's a shame because up until the house on the beach or even the test chambers of the scientists, the game had a good atmosphere, solid level design, and the mystery was kinda good.

But Polaris being a nothingnburger, the containment part being shit and the final "boss" being just waves of enemies, the game just falls apart in the end. The recreation of the AWE with the house was also very disappointing.

i do not want to sound like a boomer but i actually love the fact that the modern world stopped evolving like 10 years ago because you just have to learn things ones and you know it all. back when i was small, i constantly had to learn new things, try new games, new software... it felt like i was always behind. these days i play the same games i did 10 years ago and all new games just come and go in 1 month. Just a friendly reminder that games like Doom : the dark ages came 1 month ago and it already is memoryholed... it was not even a woke or a bad game, just mediocre. If even mediocre games die in 1 month, all the woke slop flops die in weeks.
