You have to actually try to preserve it. The Source Code from old games that exists today tended to be small teams by Westerners who had some investment in their project and saved it. Wipeout's source code and Doom's source code were both saved for instance.

The Japanese saw a project as being done, thus why bother keep this junk? The HDD were to be wiped and used for new projects as they were just tools.

Yes, this means that basically every single CGI resource in Square or Capcom games were LOST forever. We could have had HD versions of Resident Evil, Final Fantasy 7 etc.

So reading this, we know that the Enhanced version of the game has three difficulty levels: Casual, Original, and Tactical. Apparently, the Calculator has no access to White Magic on Tactical, and the Wiegraf fight will make you cry. Special characters that had no dialogue after joining now talk during story battles. Characters like Elmdor and Vormav, who did not talk a lot in their fights, now do.

If you buy remasters, especially from SE, strongly consider takimg a long walk off a short pier.

I think the biggest problem is when assets aren't properly compressed or things like that, but that's no excuse really. These games were released in the second half of the 1990s, people weren't living in the Stone Age back then, it was perfectly possible to make backups without spending a fortune, but the Japanese probably didn't give a fuck because they were used to a routine where games were completely disposable, and once they went into production, none of that made sense anymore, and they just threw everything away to make the next product as fast as possible.

Forgot to mention from the Famitsu interview, the maximum number of characters we can have is now 50. Cloud can now be recruited at the same point he was recruited in WotL instead of the original. eh, I disagree. The purpose of the prose is to ground the setting, aka, immersion. Being in a period setting and hearing contemporary dialogue, like game of thrones, is incredibly lame. I know this is a different game, but it's part of the same setting and utilizes the same dialogue flair, and personally I think it completely elevated the game (along with the spectacular performances from the actual stage actors who did the VA)

Bergan's dialogue here is right along in the same vein as WotL. WotL might not always hit its mark with the prose, but I appreciate the effort, and when it does hit it hits well. I'd much rather than this generic modern phrases and dialogue.

Been playing it this entire week. The game itself is fun but the way you get new abilities for your units is fucking retarded. It's based off of collecting abilities from gear (FF9 style) which isn't that bad but the way you get gear is shit. It involves the bazaar system from FF12 but it's just....bad. Where to get specific items is obtuse as shit and mostly requires esoteric stealing techniques with a stop setup using a unit that can cast stop and reloading battles until the items you want show up on top of the fact that battles are RANDOM and missions are never available when you need specific ones for a specific drop and just a ton of horseshit you have to go through.

Amusingly you can semi bypass this whole mess by just spamming auction houses since a lot of that same gear will randomly show up in said auctions so that's all I've been doing today, just spamming auctions to gather gear so my fucking units have actual abilities to use in battle.
