Papyrus is in his room, it's why the "you can hear the distant trousle of bones" joke was made. It's possible that he will have a role to play, but the most relevant characters from Undertale are the one that have some connection to Kris. Papyrus has zero connections to anyone in the story at this point with the exception of sans, who is still a joke character for the most part. I think it's much more likely that toby is just messing with people rather than papyrus suddenly becoming a crucial part of the story that would have no connection to any of the other characters. I mean can you seriously imagine Papyrus being the knight? It would only be a surprise for the player, while everyone else in the story would just treat him like some stranger.

But Gaster has never shown that kind of intervention. The most he's ever done was be SURPRISED that we keep fighting the Knight and helps us speed up reloading to the rematch. They even get excited if we reach the HyperGoner then die. Gaster himself seems to be more content with waiting, he thinks it will all come together eventually.

The Knight, however, has shown itself to be more of a schemer. It's been following us. It knows the future events and seems to shape the worlds itself each time. It seems way more likely as the one that would have done all this stuff to Jevil and Spamton. It probably wasn't in it's Knight Form when talking to them directly, hence Seam not outright saying the "strange someone" and the "strange knight" were the same person, but it could still certainly have been doing this shit in the amount of time it's had on it's hands.

Hell, Tenna seems to imply it's been in the TV World from the start. It's literally waiting at the fountain, twiddling its thumbs the whole adventure.
Or, perhaps, it's not just waiting that whole time either. Maybe it's sneaking around to play a special game with Kris in their alone time. And when they were done playing, it rewarded Kris with the armor that would let them stand a chance against it long enough to crack off another Shadow Crystal from it's own sword. ERAM does end the fight saying it can't play more because "we both have work to do".

Everything makes so much more/simpler sense for the Secret Boss stuff to be the Knight laying seeds of a rebellion while still playing it's role in the prophecy.

I have experience performing with weird time signatures, and the key is just knowing how the signature is subdivided. That first video shows it very well: In those bars of 11/8 and 12/8 there are miniature groupings of 2 eighth notes and 3 eighth notes, and each grouping is basically where the "beat" is. The Dark World reacts to the Lightners memories and plays with it in hopes of catching them off guard, but to say how malicious the off guard catch by the Dark World is ultimately is hard to say. The Dark World could be testing (You), or maybe it's trying to learn something about itself as it keeps rewriting itself. Maybe it's about the Dark World trying to learn itself, but whatever it could be, it is judging us and it will lay its judgement upon us.
Gerson, a being of the Light World, while also being a character seemingly resurrected by the Dark World, is the character that defines this meta-narrative struggle of the entire game with his battle against Susie. He is the balance that understands it all, and he plays with Susie on who she is to help better her. Her struggle will become the vocal point, she must learn to embrace the darkness while not letting it destroy her. This will be the ultimate challenge that reinforces everything that the game has been saying, and will eventually say. The reader not being able to embrace the story that is the Dark World means that they will never charge past their own personal struggles that created the Dark World in the first place.

I'm not on the exact path as you but these threads are the most consistent fun I've had on 4chan in years.
Any other game I enjoy more has virtually zero audience, or has a resident schizo, but here I can actually talk about a game I had fun with, with people who are down to discuss pretty much anything with an open mind.
Like to be able to talk about what I enjoyed and to learn new things, and even some of the things I disliked about this update (within reason), is something I never fucking get at all anymore. Even as everything begins to dwindle down I will still look back fondly of these times because I really do think this is a rare opportunity where I can appreciate the company of a few dorks for once since they are actually able to be themselves and to be able to teach me something.
