It's something that was made in complete sincerity with no hint of irony and it is insane that it was because it's crazy to think there is someone out there right now with beliefs like this and thinks it's normal.

I'm convinced Dustborn is a scam of some sort. I'm not sure how it works and I have absolutely no proof whatsoever. But something to me just makes me think "scam".

It's the exact same feeling I get whenever I see "modern art" selling for tens of millions, which is how unscrupulous individuals or crime syndicates launder their money. Or do whatever the fuck they do with it. It's the same thing. Maybe it was him simply scamming the EU. The combat isn't amazing with poor hit feedback, sloppy animations, spongy enemies and no real weight to it and there is no penalty to dieing so there is no true challenge whatsoever and you could theoretically just stand there, go outside for a few hours, come back and your companions will have won the fight for you.

Halo had Marty O'Donnell as an important creative on it and he's a hardcore conservative, and the game as a whole is about a human government that is, in the background oppressive and authoritarian fighting a glorious war for survival against strange and dogmatic aliens. I actually don't think most Bungie developers are conservative (Marty was known to be considered extremely irritating by many/most of the devs there,) I think they were just trying to make something cool and ended up making something that reads close to a post 9/11 US Army ad.

Halo in regards to Bungie looks more like the same team recreating their earlier title (Marathon) but in a more approachable manner to a general audience. An alliance of Alien races attack humanity with full intent to wipe us out, and it's down to a super human super soldier to stop it and save the day. All the talk of 3 hyper competent AI fighting each other using entire civilizations as pawns or talk of rampancy and eldritch horrors are either toned down in the games themselves or just removed entirely. It's still a good trilogy of games, but as an Army ad I find that a bit of a stretch. The ground work for Halo was already in the company.
