Capcom did the bare minimum and SF6 had the cushion of "well its better than SFV" that elevated it. By all means SF6 should have died given the painfully slow updates and the devolving into slime fighter but it had the cavalot of Bamco dropping of ball with Tekken 8 which prompted a major exodus, people's complete indifference to SNK and anime fighters being stuck in a rut so SF6 a game Capcom didn't give high priority to was seen as the lesser evil among the crop.
