It definitely does and I think that WOD expansion is hilarious because of this. So what did the orcs do when freed from the influence of Mannoroth? Genocide Draenei, AGAIN, and build a new Dark Portal to conquer. AGAIN. But because they are the "noble savages", we're meant to ignore this.

There's a clear dissonance here. Grom is the only holdover from previous orcs and he's regarded as a hero. The writers simply skip the whole aggressive expansion and destroying the land of natives because "muh self sacrifice"

The High Elves, that is every elf that opposed Kael'thas' choice to leave the Alliance, have always been in the Alliance (even if you can't play them lmao) and don't need to drain mana from demons and shit to feed their magic addiction. They just deal with it.

AFAIK it was always a retcon that there were any elves that didn't follow Kael, but that was a Retcon they made back in TBC.
But even in WC3 they made it clear that the mana addiction wasn't life-threatening. Kael just talked about it as his people having a general malaise without the Sunwell, and not in any actual danger.

It's hard to say if turning into wretched is a result of not taking mana, or if some demonic influence is affecting them. Frozen Thrown makes it out like Kael tied his people to Illidan in order to secure a source of fel mana to slake their addiction, but in BC it's revealed that blood elves are using a naaru as their battery instead. Both factions are shown turning into wretched, so it's hard to say. It's also not clear to me if the faction of blood elves in BC is different than Kael's; obstinately they have to be otherwise why would they be fighting Kael's faction in Outland, but I don't think this is ever explained.
I always figured it was a proximity thing. Those elves close to the Sunwell/source of their mana were more addicted to it, turning into wretched while the high elves were further away and were therefore suffering minimized effects of withdrawal. The same goes for nightborne, who almost exclusively lived in very close proximity to the Nightwell, so when cut off from it suffered severe transformations.

There are quests talking about how some discover Kael's new ties with the Legion and want to break away, which becomes the playable blood elf faction. Couldn't tell you exactly which because it's been so long, but I remember it being part of Hellfire Peninsula and Netherstorm quest chains.

Grom saw combat and fighting as noble things. To him it's honorable to fight and kill other side warriors who chalenge them. Also the Warsong was the outline, they were one of the more blood lust clan compare to Thrall's Frostwolf clan. It's a pretty big deal sometimes. It depends on various factors like how much they used and relied on magic and how strong their will is. A decent way to put it is arcane magic is like caffeine and sleeping pills. If you become reliant on them and then cold turkey you won't be able to function in the day and you won't be able to sleep at night which then makes the next day worse and so on.

There's a fun universe, but most every subplot and the overarching plot revolves around characters not being able to take a five minute breather and discuss, you know, what the fuck's going on. Medivh in particular is the major, overarching portrayal of this issue with the screenwriting.
Call me crazy but unless it's a comedy, I don't really find stories where characters win/lose being purely reliant on one party acting retarded.
