The only thing that can fix RWBY is reboot the series. Remake V1-V3 and make sure the fall of Beacon isn't rushed. Forget everything beyond V3 and just keep the story to be more grounded.

Grimm Eclipse had the right idea, the execution was just severely held back by the small budget.

I don't see the point in a reboot. If you're going to invest that much time and resources, you might as well just make an entirely new anime fight girl show from the ground up with better story and world-building foundations. Unless you resurrect Monty you're never recapturing the magic anyway, so it's best to just start entirely fresh.

He effectively is the protagonist. He's the one who has a hero's journey, starts off as an average person thrust into a world of magic and monsters he doesn't understand, grows stronger, experiences tragedy, etc.

I'd delete a lot of the post vol 3 characters and give the role to vol 1-3 characters. The biggest issue that RWBY has is misuse of characters and redundant characters. I'd give Junior more of a role in vol 1-3 with the White Fang being more of a background threat. White Fang would actually take up vol 4-6. Casie Williams is great, under rated. I use her poorly recorded songs to demo expensive speakers. Analytical systems will make annoying sounds when it clips but good musical systems will be designed to handle imperfections and still sound great. Red Like Roses Part II is a good test of any audio system since it’s recorded badly. She sings great and later work is better, but she clipped that song by basically screaming into a mic as close as someone could get. It clips period.
