the real answer is to collaborate with others in the industry. people like VA's who do vocal fill and SFX artists. some of these people offer additional service where they'll promote your animation on their twitter. you don't have to have much technical skill, a lot of people just use pre-made models, rigs, environments, and animations. some of the highest earners ($10k+) also lack technical skill, their work looks better than average, but from the perspective of someone who is professional in 3DCG you will notice a lot of flaws in their work. it's shameless work, but can pay well. you just need to target a specific niché and use characters that are popular.
