to be fair the demo has a few issues such as the ai is not hard enough and it lacks some absolutely brainmelting track like you'd expect of an f-zero game. somebody a few threads back said there was an old version with unnerfed ai.

I tried playing F-zero on SNES then GX, and it didn't really feel the same. Turboblast is the first game in this genre I have tried/played, and the fact it shares similarities with kart racers like MK, CTR or SBR2 kart thanks to the drift mechanic makes the game easier to assimilate for me. I never was a fan of other types of racing games with weird steering, although I know that kart racers aren't exactly vanilla in that regard. I enjoyed Asphalt, Burnout and Flatout when I was younger but that was it. Except for the clearly forced robot porn the game's aesthetic is the right amount of cutesy

the only real difference with the kart style toggle driftmode is that you're not required to steer out of the drift, you just release the trigger whereas with f-zero x it's momentum based like a real car but you can force the cars to enter a drift by using the side strafe while turning.

The hard truth is hypersexual designs scare off normalfags, especially in a genre like racers, basically dooming the success of your game.
The audience it will get will likely consist mostly of really, really weird and insufferable freaks (porn/internet addicts / troons, sadly), along with the few pure arcade racer fans that are left nowadays that are just putting up with the former because they are desperate.

You have to kinda snake a bit and use jump tricks on certain maps like the oval track or the vine tunnel. Otherwise I found it's better and less risky to drive normally and drift when absolutely necessary

I assume the full game would probably have a hardcore mode where you DNF instead but I'm not sure

In my case, I was actually really interested by the gameplay. I remember seeing a webm of this game posed somewhere haphazardly, like in october or november 2023 thinking the gameplay and aesthetic looked rad. But I couldn't find the name of the game and the thread was archived before I could ask for sauce. IIRC I tried reverse searching the video and looking through the archives but no one bothered to give the source too back then. Due to my memories being fuzzy after some time had passed, I ended up believing it was the game called SP-GP grand prix. And when I ended up giving it a try last year, I was disappointed. Now I know why. I'm glad someone mentioned project turboblast in a next fest thread a few weeks ago, seeing the videos and screenshots of the game on the steam page made something click in my mind, and finally I had found it.
I didn't even notice or care about the robot girls until these threads. I was just glad to play the game and go fast, even if the mechanics were confusing at first.
