No it can't be fixed. The very basis of thinking it was ever okay for adults and children to mingle without having entirely separate servers was a horrible fucking mistake and I'm absolutely sure the devs are massive fucking pedophiles considering you only need to be 13 to not "violate the tos".

I get that you can't stop adults from having childish hobbies but this shit has got to stop. Either kids need to be removed from all internet spaces until the appropriate age of adulthood to protect against indoctrination and other stupid bullshit, not playing shit like this. At least secondlife had a seperate grid for children where adults couldn't interact for the majority of its lifecycle, but then they ruined that too and the story became as old as time.

It has its good parts but there's an overwhelming amount of coomer stuff, and they can't get rid of that because it'd completely kill the game.

I'm not very good at typing and being in chatrooms, so I like VRChat because it feels like a more natural way to talk with internet friends, especially in large groups. Discord calls are okay, but being in VR gives you a real sense of presence, where you can see someone's body language and hand gestures and stuff. This may be optimistic, but a small change that I think would do a lot of good is if VRchat stepped in and added a feature where each player gets a companion npc that's as customizable as their own avatar. In short you get a personalized waifu whore on your shoulder that can be a big titty bitch, futa, catgirl, gay furry OC, what the fuck ever. I think secondlife handled this far better for the majority of its life cycle. It had active official moderators that would investigate all petty claims to someone being underage and immediately banish them to a seperate grid where all fellow users were also underage so that adult and children spaces were separated as they should've stayed. I would however consider pointing some fault at some of oldest of the millennial generation who are the parents to the Gen Zs and Gen Alphas who failed to continue teaching the lessons they were taught when they were kids. I think part of what laid the path we're on now was a too lax attitude towards such things by those parents. Every new generation of parents is always a response to the parenting of the generation prior. I think that too lax attitude came from older millennials growing in a deeply conservative social environment in the 80s and 90s where stricter heavy-handed parenting was very common and the millennials who felt burned from that environment looking to raise their kids in a way they "wanted" to be raised back when they were kids and we're now just reaping what we sowed from the too lax environment ("we" as in a collective whole, not like you or I specifically.) That's why I consider it a cultural failure. We have a generation of parents who failed to realize the importance of some of the lessons their parents tried to teach them and failed to pass those same lessons down to the next, and education system lead by people too old to even understand what was cutting edge technology over 2 decades, let alone the cutting edge technology of today that failed to adapt. All that being said, I don't think its particularly constructive to simply lay blame on just a single generation over what is already history. At a deeper level fingers could be pointed at every generation.

I met people when I started playing a few years back who made content for the game and they had personally inspired me to get into 3D modelling to make avatars so I have a love-hate relationship with the game. (low-tier hobbyist shit, but it makes me happy to have some form of creative output to show off sometimes)
I have a set group I tend to hang out with on occasion and it's honestly a good time. That, and I like to explore some levels on occasion which I find therapeutic depending on my mood. Really just a sucker for community made content.
Given it's a social game my primary complaints are just that 95% of avatar use is Bratz/IMVU tier jiggly tatted ass models. I love ass and tits as much as anyone else but it's so beyond abundant and tasteless that it's just boring at this point, I can never have a read on someone at a glance other than that they are probably just super horny (or they're trans, in which case they're insanely horny too). In a sea of it I tend to use my own goofy shit or I just play as a Namazu and stick out like a sore thumb.

I think on some level you're missing the forest for the trees here. I'm NTA but I don't think they were specifically saying that no attempt of control is bad. I would hope that obviously everyone is in agreement that a establishing a system of rules in the environment their kids are to be raised in to ensure the best chances for their future success is naturally an expectation of any parent. The rub is that there is only so much control you specifically have the capacity to bring to that environment that children are raised in. The libertarian approach does not work when there are factors that you objectively cannot control area also present.

We've spent literal decades trying to encourage people through programming and even fines not just throw their trash on the floor outside and perform the most basic of tasks of simply bring their garbage to a fucking trash can and centuries later we still have environments limited in trash. Is the answer there to simply try to shame and continue to push fines on others into doing that, or paying others to clean up those messes for them? (The actual answer is both, because as a society we cannot control the actions of our neighbors, and while we can try to encourage action against it, the best way to actually clean up littered streets is to pay others to do it.) In a similar manner, I think the only way you can fix this issue is to both encourage parents to actually be responsible about parenting, while advocating for the creation of an environment that can best ensure that even when parenting fails, those children do not end up slipping through the cracks. I can't expect some dumbass kid to know better not to toss their 7-11 slurpee cup onto the side of the street, but I can expect someone paid by the city to come by and clean it up so I am not burdened with walking past litter every time I walk to the grocery store.
