Sometimes exclusivity deals are retarded. It usually takes a year for a PS game to come to PC, and about two years for it to come to Xbox. Final Fantasy XVI JUST dropped on Xbox like last week and took roughly TWO YEARS for that to happen. It took a year for it to come to PC. Black Myth Wukong is also coming to Xbox a year later, but that makes more sense because it was probably a one-year exclusivity deal.

I'm curious to see how it runs on XSX though, I know it launched with bad performance on PC and PS5, but that was before they dropped patches and hotfixes. Even the strongest PC's were having problems, so it was probably poorly optimized.

I'm about 6 chapters in so far, and the plot simultaneously feels more aimless and linear if that makes any sense. Aimless in that Sam just kind of bounces from objective to objective, and Higgs is more personally fucking with him than orchestrating some large scale disaster. Linear in that the new crew you're with have all the info on who you're supposed to deliver to, so even though you're outside America you don't have to break through privacy barriers as much. Also ran into a Cliff-like encounter not long ago. The main mysteries are on a really slow burn.

Gameplay feels a lot more forgiving, even outside of pretending you won.

In terms of the gameplay yeah, I appreciate being able to fight shit faster off the bat. Upgrades are faster to come along; it's not drastically different but it does feel significantly streamlined.

In terms of the story, it may be unfair because I'm less than halfway through but so far I'm not impressed. May be nitpicking but characters like Amelie, Deadman and Heartman all felt more dynamic than the ones here who are kind of just on one (generally cheery) mode but with a dark backstory that explains why they're with Fragile's crew. Fragile herself is there of course, but her main role is to go "Sam, I know you hate the government but we're not the government, we're based" over and over again. If you like cute girls there's more to go around this time, but I can't help but feel like as a result of the plot taking longer to get going everyone is just less interesting. It's like they've all caught Sam's selective autism.

I personally don't think it's worth the $80, but I will qualify that with the fact that this is honestly not my kind of game and I'm mainly here to see the story continue. If you liked the original you will probably like this, if not just watch it on youtube.

the story of DS1 took awhile to process for me and even then most of it was schlock. i overall liked DS1 mostly for its novelty and decently pulled off hiking gameplay. the story had a few good beats like the cliff and die hardman stuff, and the mystery of what actually happened in the world.
