I thought I would just give a warning for everyone here to avoid RTX 50 series because I'm just so done with these fucking driver issues on my 5070 ti.

Just now I was in the middle of typing up a shitpost when my screen went black and I had to turn my whole pc off. This and other nonstop problems ever since I got this 900 dollar gpu two weeks ago.
Just yesterday even my fucking skyrim futa mods were all broken yesterday and the texutures were messed up so I couldnt goon. I've always bought nvidia but fuck it idc anymore and I'm going to rma and switch to a 9070 XT.

Blackwell gpus are broken technology due to pajeet code drivers. Do NOT buy.

This. 5070ti was unironically the cheapest ai card that wasnt shit. I need to gen my waifus and make money selling ai to pay for this thing.

I too have run into endless driver issues. The card wouldn't even load bios until it got drivers. I had to plug into the mobo to install windows.

And enshrouded crashed the gpu every time until a fix a week ago. Insane that it has so many bugs.

But the ai coom is beautiful and it's half paid for already from selling coom shit to loona fag furries on DA so...

but the place to beat Nvidia right now is on their top end shit which is way overpriced, and AMD's best card is no better than a 5070ti.
They need something to compete with the 5080 and 5090, that's where they could win. SHOULD win.

I haven't had the widespread problems. The issue for me was stuttering in VR games for a while (and depending on the circumstances poor performance) then i updated to Doom DDA driver and that stopped. I was having issues BEFORE that but haven't had any since. 5090 owner.

On a side note: the only tech issues I'm having right now is with Windows 11 itself and nothing GPU related, as in the search bar keeps freezing up on this bloated piece of shit OS.

The thing that made me realize how fucked up things are, is that there are plenty of people with patreons putting up AI art.
You'd think maybe that would mean it's quality enough to pay for, but they tend to put up 15-20 or so pics in a set, and it's all of a quality you can easily shit out on civit in an hour or two with free daily currency.
I really hate not being enough of a sociopath to cash in on this shit.

The drivers are infinitely worse than AMD ever was. I recommend using November drivers if you're on 30 or 40 series cards, you're shit out of luck if you got a 50 series GPU right now. Nvidia has became nothing but an AI company, gaming is sub 10% of their profits nowadays so it's yo be expected I guess. Fuck me, haven't had an AMD card since they were still called ATI.

Real talk, how difficult is it to solo-program top of the line gpu drivers? It's not too hard, right?

Someone on Reddit already leaked that Blackwell GPUs are broken because the old engineers who have been carrying the company are now super rich and no longer give a shit, meanwhile the new engineers who are supposed to pick up the slack are super jealous for not being rich and refusing to work hard because of that. Nvidia would be better off relying on pajeets to write their drivers.

(or if you are technologically literate, you'd know GPU performance is 99.99% related to transistor size. every time a GPU generation had considerable uplift over the previous one, it was because the transistors shrunk so much that way more of them could be packed into a card. TSMC are in charge of shrinking transistors for Nvidia cards, and TSMC could not shrink transistors in time for rtx5000 series. so the rtx5000 series is built on the exact same node as rtx4000, therefore no real gains)

You're overselling how much better it was, it was slightly faster for slightly less power. But it was a lot cheaper: it was a disappointing technological improvement, but a good value improvement.
Lovelace was the other way around: a massive technological improvement, but performance-per-dollar was stagnant.

And now Blackwell is both technologically disappointing, and not much better value than the previous generation. They basically re-released Lovelace for the same price.

on topic, genuinely curious:
what all goes into writing drivers for gpus? Is it a pretty 'standard, by the book' field, or does it involve quite a bit of 'innovative/creatively designed' code? Are the different drivers pretty much 'walled-off' from each other, or is there a heavy amount of overlap, and most of the differences show up during marketing?

That's not the problem, the problem is that 30 fps is a cutoff point for responsiveness. Even with the antilag shit, dropping under 30 fps native is jarring even if the ai shits out 200 to your screen. So only 5090 lets you pathtrace meme ages without making the game feel even worse than it alrdy does. And if you have input lag autism you probably want to push that to 60 native or only take the option for moviegames that play themselves.

It's the same engineers making the datacenter GPUs and gaming GPUs. Nvidia's problem is that their performance uplift between generations is 100% dependent on whether TSMC/Samsung succeed in shrinking the process node. Whenever they don't shrink the process node, there's no uplift. RTX4000 and RTX5000 is the exact same process node hence no improvements, but Jewvidia still wants money so let's release a new generation anyway.

I believe the 5090 has the same issue, though. It has to do with displayport 2.1 quirks that Nvidia isn't quite used to (since they JUST switched from 1.4 this generation).

yes its a little limited vs real "rtgi" which is still fake but it does the job in old games where it's not supported natively. there's no alternative anyway, because the ssrtgi nvidia provides through the shadowplay program is actually worthless outside of screenshots.

It suck that at any moment and nvidia driver update can just brick your card, I remember when I had a 3090 and all of a sudden every time I would plainly wow my monitors would shut off and my gpu fans would rev up to max. And I tried everything to fix even down clocking the fucker to 2090 levels and it still fucking did that shit. I sent it to be fix and they literally just said we can fix it here's a new one and they sent me a nrw 4090 by mistake. Now i REFUSE to up date my driver's unless I see its universally safe on every single website that posts about the new drivers.

This was a commonly known issue even before RTX 50 cards or these NVIDIA drivers were available.
Just because it only started to happen after (you) got a 5060 Ti doesn't conclusively prove it's NVIDIA's fault.
Not to mention Microsoft is still fixing display-related issues for Windows 11.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/may-28-2025-kb5058499-os-build-26100-4202-preview-d4c2f1ee-8138-4038-b705-546945076f92

All this shows is an issue with this particular scene, not with the upscaler in general. Old FSR's issues were very easily reproducible across games, this looks more like a very specific pain point.
You should instead post about DLSS4 having issues with volumetrics in AC Shadows, that is an easily reproducible issue. This? Might as well be a bug specific to that place.

Your whataboutism doesn't change the fact that your first hand experience is a non respresentative sample.
You can't even find a single other PC user with the same exact specs & conditions to reproduce the issue.

Other people aren't insinuating their blackscreen + visible mouse cursor issues are caused by the 5060Ti, they were experiencing these issues before the product ever existed.
You need to think this through.

I've been proving this issue existed before the 5060 Ti was even designed, and it can occur on Intel iGPUs because it's a Windows issue.
You're the one who needs to prove the 5060 Ti is the reason for those black screens.
Get a screen recorder, install the problematic driver, and reproduce the issue.

Except AMD abandoned that problematic generation of GPUs.
That's why you're not getting any FSR4-related features.

I don't have any problems in-game, but I do get moments where the screen randomly goes black and then comes back. Happens while I'm on the desktop. Apparently very common issue. Like other anons, I needed the 5090 for AI shit.

They're about the same, amd's is just way cheaper + funnily enough has actually less driver (or firmware) issues. And FSR4 is allegedly very close to DLSS4 in quality, in games where the latest upscale versions are available.

A used 3060ti would be fine, it's a really decent model for the price point. MSRP was like $400 Im seeing them for like $250 now on eBay. I used it up until 6 months ago and got a 4070ti Super. The 3060ti was still playing modern stuff at 60+fps 1080p and a whole lot of older stuff at 1440p as well. Wouldn't work for 4k I don't think.
