Marvel desperately wants to push "anyone can be spider-man :)" which is why they keep pushing alternate (and always terrible) spider-people like miles, gwen, MJ-Venom, silk, spider-boy, every spider-verse fag, etc. The only one with any real character of their own is 2099 and that's because he was conceived well before the modern era.
The thing is Peter Parker got popular because he's actually a pretty distinct character, unlike what modern comics, games, and movies portray. He looks distinct, he's kind of a rager and a mean guy, he's quick witted but kind of impulsive despite how smart he is, and he genuinely loves his family. Attempts to portray Ditko-era Peter as some sort of proto school shooter are fuckin retarded, also.
Modern Peter (especially MCU Peter) has had ALL of his rough edges sanded off and even his look has been genericized. The character has basically been obliterated. The only place he has any sort of attitude is when he shows up as a guest appearance in another book or in an eastern game like Rivals or Tokon (since those writers want to treat the character with respect).

Marvel recently rebooted their old Ultimate Universe line of comics. There's a lot to sum up, but basically, Peter didn't become Spider-Man until he was an adult, instead marrying Mary Jane and having two kids together. The second Spider-Man is his son, who started filling in for him when Peter was kidnapped by Kraven, and only has powers while wearing the black suit (which functions like the Venom Symbiote, but instead it's all technological and the mind inside is an AI copy of Peter)

The book has been well-received and fairly popular, as lots of readers view it as what Peter Parker should be treated as by editorial; not getting as "shit on" when it comes to being Spidey, and in his personal life, he has his loving marriage and is a family man; many fans have come to view Ultimate Spider-Man as THE Spider-Man.

As such, editorial did the same thing they've been doing for a while: inject Miles Morales into the story so everyone can say how cool he is and how he's more of a hero than Peter Parker, that he's absolute one of THE Spider-Men and that people totally prefer him as their favorite Spider-Man. Like it's not that universe's Miles, it's the one from the main comics that's here specifically so Richard can say he's cooler than his dad.

Moon Knight 2011 by Bendis was the worst shit I ever read and made me nearly give up on the character even thought I read the older stuff because they were rather "classic".
Then Ellis/Wood/Smallwood wrote some short stories which eventually lead to a bigger one (i think it was 2016-18) which made me return to MK. The next one (Bemis) wrote him as Deadpool v.2.0. with his personality disorder being a superpower and then I can't recall who wrote him as being able to beat up the Avengers.
I'm thankful that the new one keeps him more grounded with B and C list villains or even basic supernatural stuff. I hope Marvel don't give MK to someone else because I'm 1000% sure they'll fuck him up...

I like the idea of Spider-man, I just hate the execution. I think PS4 spiderman was pretty good, it had it's flaws but I think it's stands alongside arkham asylum of being a great game that perfectly allows you to experience the feeling of that specific superhero.

The sequel had some nice stuff....but it felt way too bogged down with the story. The current Moon Knight series is unironically the best mainline book out of anything done by Marvel or DC, the only things better are some elseworlds stuff like some Ultimate and Absolute books.

McKay has been writing Moon Knight for the last several years and having a single consistent author allows it to not be a total flaming dumpster fire, and it actually has enabled character growth and changes to the status quo rather than permanently being stuck in place with no progression. It helps that McKay was handed Moon Knight at basically his lowest point ever where he'd been kicked back to absolute rock bottom and ultra character assassinated by a shitty Avengers crossover event called Age of Khonshu where Moon Knight literally takes over the world at the behest of Khonshu who is unambiguously and demonstrably proven VERY real and VERY dangerous to the entire planet until he gets locked up in Asgard.


After age of khonshu nobody wanted to touch moonie with a ten foot pole, and the ridiculous bullshit with age of khonshu was too big to pretend it never happened or easily retcon, so McKay did the thing marvel writers barely ever do and ACTUALLY acknowledged the events of the previous run and took it at face value and spent the time working through the fallout and how that shit would actually impact the character going forward in a meaningful way. Moon Knight starts the run on indefinite house arrest by the Avengers and limited to a small slice of New York under surveillance in case he goes psycho again and the run is about him building up a temple mission/borderline street gang dedicated to khonshu to continue protecting travelers at night even when his god is in gay baby jail and has continued since then with constant progress

Moon Knight is definitely one of the more manga-esque books any of the big two have going on, it has minimal crossover fuckery (the only major crossover is actually a plot done by McKay that primarily involves moon knight and a bunch of vampires blocking out the sun), and having a single writer from 2021 to 2025 and ongoing has allowed actual character arcs and plot development and character introductions that aren't possible in shit like Spiderman that gets reset to status quo every six months with an entirely new writer and artist pushing editorial mandate.

I hate pretty much all modern comics but moonman is a rare exception that's actually worth reading every month, McKay also has mega based taste and brought back Tigra as Mark's love interest from his West Coast Avenger days so he's also getting sexy catgirl pussy, truly the most manga like marvel book.

First thing's first, I'm getting Miles out of New York. Not only is that city already oversaturated with heroes in general, but two Spider-Men is excessive there. Where I'd put him, not sure. Some place with a decent amount of tall buildings I guess.

Next, I'd focus on building up his supporting cast because frankly I don't know fuck all about them beyond some stuff about his mom and uncle and friend from school.

Next, I'd REALLY work on giving him a colorful, compeling rogue's gallery. Spider-Man has arguably the best if not second best rogue's gallery in capeshit, rivalled only by Batman. But Miles and Peter sharing villains doesn't make sense because Miles doesn't have the history or personal connection to them the same way Peter does.

Finally, his fighting style. The electric shit is kinda dumb and never made a whole lotta sense to me, so I'd keep it around but only tangentally. I like the take that the Spider-Verse movies had, making Miles more artistic-oriented. I want his fighting style to be more flashy, like he turns crimes into spectacles. And I want to give him colored webs that he can also use as spray painting tools, letting both his visual fights look more interesting as he's splattering color everywhere, but also more interesting in-universe as well. This is far more intersting than making him another computer nerd like Peter.

Finally, I would want to build up iconic moments for him. Iconic wins, iconic loses, iconic revelations, love interests, suit designs. Great characters need specific moments people can point to and say "Damn, I remember this! This was such an insane thing to happen!"

I don't give a shit about adding Peter or having Miles crossover with other heroes/teams. If I wrote him, I'd make him stand on his own first and earn it.

Proper Thor writing has him be very different from Wonder Woman. Combining that mix of revelry, demesne, and raw power is how you get Thor.
