Switch 2 cyberpunk looks amazing if you stand still and stare at a single spot because its how the AI upscale works on it.
It falls apart the moment you actually start playing and shit starts to happen.
Basically Cyberpunk is an amazing game to take screenshots in on the switch 2 to pretend how powerful the hardware is but its by far one of the worst ways to play the game bar the PS4 version.

It actually did quite a while ago.
>3 million is le poor sales!
Now compare that to other UMPCs you disingenuous tendie.

>>713734328
Steam Deck is the best UMPC for playing old shit, because you have a built-in Steam Controller 2.0, which allows you to map inputs to the trackpads, making keyboard heavy games playable without the keyboard. Literally no other machine on the market manages to achieve to this. Not the Shitch, not the Ally, not the Legion Go.

You have access to the world's biggest backlog at your fingertips (for free), and yet here you are, trying to run 2025 AAA on a 1050ti. Why not use Moonlight if you're that desperate to play new games on a Deck? You do own a PC right?

>>713734523
At least the Deck can bump down the graphics and run at a locked 45FPS. Meanwhile the shitch 2 will choke the moment an NPC appears on the screen, and smear when you touch the stick.

do you think ps5 games don't run on the ps1 because of optimization?
no, old technology just falls behind and making the game work on old shit would take almost as much work as making a whole game from scratch, which is obviously not worth for obsolete hardware
your mistake was wasting money on the deck, it was already obsolete when it released and with time it only gets even worse

Games are objectively not optimized today and UE5 is the cause of this. Plus nobody "makes things work" on the deck, it's literally just a PC that you hold in your hands, it's not a console.

>Bond's video wasn't the only interesting Xbox release last week. AMD CEO Lisa Su also appeared in a short video and essentially laid bare Microsoft's next-gen Xbox strategy: "Moving forward, AMD will go beyond building custom chips for Xbox consoles to designing a full roadmap of gaming-optimized chips, combining the power of Ryzen and Radeon for consoles, handhelds, PCs, and the cloud," Su said.
>That sure sounds like AMD and Microsoft are co-engineering chips for Microsoft's own next-gen Xbox console, as well as third-party devices that will also be branded as Xbox consoles. Su also specifically revealed these chips will include the hardware support needed for backward compatibility, which suggests that you'll need one of these chips for whatever emulation solution Microsoft is working on. I fully expect these next-gen chips will also form the basis for how Microsoft plans to license the software powering this Xbox experience to OEMs.

Given that Valve is heavily rumored to use one of these APUs for their Steam Deck 2, with it being fully customized by Valve with the Windows OS and Xbox backwards compatibility disabled completely. Would the Steam Deck 2 using the low-end version of this APU cost around $500 or $550 in 2027?

LMAO.
They don't understand the Steam deck strategy or it's purpose.

Steam doesn't WANT to sell record breaking units, they are just trying to keep up with demand and want it to be successful enough to justify updates to the REAL product.... SteamOS.
>But why not just make an OS and not take a loss on the hardware
For the same reason that McDonald's isn't actually in the fast food business, they're in the real-estate business.
If there is no one using steam os they have no financial incentive to update, make it good, or even know wtf they need to fix. They can release the OS but who the fuck would switch over when windows is doing everything fine.
>But how does this make steam money?
It's a defense move, not a money making move.
Windows 8 was a disaster for Steam and made them realize that windows could in the future block them off from the walled garden or start screwing with them. Steam OS (and by extension the deck) future proofs that.

So what has been the result of Steam OS and the miracle or Proton layer? Just record growth of Linux and Microsoft legit scared of people jumping ship from 11 since 11 really is that bad and trying to force people out of 10 by ending support isn't going as smoothly as they hoped.

The hardware survey is optional and it's randomly assigned out, so while it can give you some clue as to what to expect it's hardly 100% accurate. For example, I was asked to participate in it only once in the past 5 years and it was on my Windows 11 laptop (I accepted btw). I have 2 Linux PCs and neither of them has ever received an invite.

Glad you guys understood I was putting down.
The new rage in the tech landscape is "creating an ecosystem"
Windows 8 was a failed attempt at trying this forgetting a laptop isn't a fucking tablet ruined it along with other compatability problems.
A successful version of this is Apple, their iPhone and products and how hard it is to leave once they lock you in, and can start fucking with the developers and making unreasonable demands to have access to their users.

Steam is kinda this in a way, but not cause they are trying to be an ecosystem, they just suck the least out of all the digital game store fronts.
Gabe has rightfully identified the threat from windows and after a failed attempt with the "steam machine" which had 0 pricing or quality control, they realized they had to build the hardware AND software themselves.

However, keep in mind steam is very excited to work with Lenovo Legion Go (which did build a straight up toe to toe competitor to the steam deck)
Lenovo takes on the building of the machines, and steam gets to spread SteamOS . Win win
They also have started creating compatability certifications for certain partners to run steamOS on their hardware.
If steam were trying to sell units of a console, you think they would be giving it away the secret sauce for free?
The units matter only in the sense that they need an active install base.
Other than that, they could care less if you buy an official deck that they lose money on, or but a Lenovo Legion with steam OS installed.

They don't even think about Nintendo.
They are competing with Microsoft to end the reign of their Monopoly and prevent a walled garden or end of life support issues (like when they had to kill windows 7 support) not sell the most digital doo dad boxes.

You can easily run any PC games from any source on windows right out of the box. In SteamOS you have to buy games from Steam to ensure compatibility and the whole OS is designed with selling Steam games in mind while windows is a general use OS where gaming is not even the most important consideration.

Rog normally has amazing stuff, but the ally and the poor design that fries SD cards left me shocked.
Lenovo usually makes dog shit, but the legion GO was the PC version of a switch 2 before the switch 2 disappointed everyone. It had EVERYTHING! In many ways it even outdid the Deck.
MSI claw was... well they tried. Kinda a bad choice to use intel as your backbone chip.

I am hoping the xbox ROG isn't trash and overpriced. I hear it's supposed to be $700 which is pricey but if they make it REALLY well made, it should sell well and open the door to Xbox normies to play PC

We'll see what happens.

Lenovo Legion was so close to being good for me. But BOTH units I bought had a weird annoying fan coil whine and it killed my ears so I suspect it's just a design flaw. If the Legion Go 2 fixes that then it will be the perfect handheld. Rog and Deck fags need not apply.

If that's what you think, you've either been lied to or wilfully ignorant.
You're looking at this completely backwards. You're seeing "SteamOS is using its own software to play games with", while you should start from the other side and see that if devs were to develop for everyone in mind, not specifically Windows (yes, devs CHOOSE to exclude Linux in most cases for various reasons) there wouldn't even be the need for SteamOS' Proton. Regardless, even then you can use Proton for non-steam games, you can use the entire SteamOS OS without ever using Steam.
Before Valve stepped in and started developing for Linux, more specifically Proton, the compatibility for Windows games on Linux was a joke at best. Yeah you'd get lucky with a lot of games with Wine, but even then there's an entire meme around Linux having no games. Now, Linux has (almost) the entire Steam catalogue at the very least.

Its a dead system, no one is buying games. And you need to buy another when you brick the first one. This is apocalyptic for nintendo as the more time passes without a decent hit the brand starts taking hits as it fades to obscurity. They need a AAA first party hit and soon. From what I've heard Xbox emulation is extremely difficult even on high end computers because none of the emulators are actually 100% there. I don't have any experience with it though, since Xbox is completely irrelevant outside of the US.

As for RPCS3, it's not that good. Just like Switch emulation, it requires much more CPU power than the Steam Deck has. There are definitely games that you can play at 60fps, but many 3D games will run at 10-30. So it's a hit or miss.

It's a 15W CPU after all. If you need to emulate these systems then I'd wait for Steam Deck 2 or buy one of the more powerful handhelds and install SteamOS or Bazzite on it.

>Deck 2 has a lot more reason to be a big launch with everything valve learned
Valve doesn't want it to be a big launch, the hardware is just a necessity for proton/steamos. They'll make a deck2 because other pc handhelds still don't do basic shit like trackpads, but once they get good and affordable enough and valve gets steamos loaded up on them, they'll stop making decks as they'll have served their purpose.
Nintendo fanboys think it's just the deck that makes a mockery of their system so they shit their pants over it, but the real threat is what the deck opened the door to for pc handhelds and showed them the way. Just like pc was dead in the water before quietly overtaking and crushing consoles, it'll be the same for handhelds. And nintendo going full retard will only make it even easier.

>they'll stop making decks as they'll have served their purpose
I really doubt this. Even Microsoft makes their own branded laptops.
Steam Decks need to keep coming from Valve for 2 reasons:
1. You need something that's coming from the "official source" in the eyes of many, many normies. Steam/Valve has brand power. Nobody gives a fuck about "ASUS", "Lenovo", etc. There needs to be a "standard"/"default" device.
2. Price. Steam Deck can be sold at a loss because Valve is earning money off game sales. Other devices would have to invent their own services to make a profit if they're selling devices at a loss. Remember, the entry point Steam Deck was $350-$450 while it's x86 competitors were all $800-$1600.

These are the two main reasons why the Steam Deck got popular. Brand power and very aggressive pricing.
If Steam Decks are no longer released (while SteamOS fails to capture the gaming market), the whole SteamOS project will fail again.
