The AI is too primitive, although I like what they were trying to go for.

GRID Autosport is probably the opposite end (the AI is actually pretty ruthless but the game itself isn't as interesting as GRID).

HP2010 looks nice and the sound design is A+, but I found it a pretty frustrating experience overall. The rubberbanding is horrendous and I didn't really like how it basically forces you to near flawlessly drift through every corner. I also wasn't a fan of the unlock system where you'll still be unlocking cars a tier behind where your next missions are, so if you're just trying to bang them out and complete them you'll probably be stuck in the same cars for a while if the mission doesn't force you into a specific one. The car selection isn't too great in higher tiers either as you'll mostly be driving Porsches and Lamborghinis, especially if you're playing the Remaster.

Playing NFS Underground for the first time in years. I forgot how weird the progression is in this game. It takes fucking forever to unlock shit and then you get useless things like vinyls when what you really want is upgrades. Oh, and drag races are easily the absolute worst event and I hate doing them.

same for me

not sure where you played it, but i had it on n64 as a kid
i replayed it on n64 much later and still had atleast some struggles
mainly. it had absurdly low framerate in sections
and if your analog stick was worn down it made it a lot harder to reliably charge up your boost by pressing forward as it would stop registering or have weird deadzones

recently played a bit of BalliscNG
i appreciate the many settings for stuff like camera and visual effects to tweak and turn on or off

but I find I just don't really like how most tracks are always the same super narrow width wich gives less room for error with the icy physics and doesn't let you really decide what racingline to carve if that makes sense
I still enjoy f-zero games more

also the mariokart type items are more distracting than fun imo

anyone got any other recommendations? I already played redout and sadly my pc couldnt run redout 2 well enough

I don't have a Switch 2 so Fusion is out of the question, but I have been tempted to get back into Fast RMX. I got it back when I first got my Switch and played a little bit of it, but I got discouraged pretty quickly when I was doing really poorly even on the lowest class. I feel like I gave up on it too quickly and I could probably do better if I sat down and gave it a chance.

Now that I think about it I think the game is Motor Storm for PS3. It was a launch title. That one seems fun. I also played a lot of racing games of all types way back during the PS1 and PS2 era including a bit of Gran Turismo. Not sure when this genre seemed to decline as some anons have said but it always seemed to me EA was largely carrying it with the NFS series. And if Forza and GT ever also declined which considering Sony and MS currently I can easily see this being the case, then I can see why the genre as a whole had a massive decline as some are saying.

It's dynamic as fuck and makes every race feel exciting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBisrN0gOQY

I suppose this is something that much easier to figure out in practice. As another anon has mentioned you're supposed to push in the clutch when it gets below 1k RPM's, but when you have to brake suddenly it all happens so fast and the timing is tight. It might appear that you're braking and pushing in the clutch at the sime time, but yeah braking should come first. You need engine braking to help you and you can also unsettle the car if you put it in neutral suddenly.

I'll ask here since I don't know where the fuck else to ask. One day for seemingly no reason my controller stopped working with underground 1, and only this game. The controller in the options shows up as second keyboard and it's impossible to bind any keys on my pad. I have the widescreen patch applied so it should just work with any xinput pad.
Does anyone have a clue wtf is going on? The pad is 8bitdo 2C, it's just recognized as a generic xinput pad and it worked before no problem but one day it just fucked itself and I can't find any answers.

Still waiting for AI racing, but there's a lot of time trials and you can sort of setup chases. My most time spent in the game is fucking around with other people in the multiplayer mod, but once AI racing is added I will be all over it. BeamNG is one of the best driving games, it's very overlooked simply because some core features like bots are not implemented yet. Some might be turned off by visuals, but this is the price to be paid for the soft body physics.

I don't know if it will help but try "The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C controller supports both XInput and DirectInput modes. To switch between them, power off the controller and then press and hold [X+home] or [B+home]. This will save the selected mode. The controller also supports 2.4g wireless and USB connections, with the 2.4g receiver defaulting to XInput mode on Windows"
It's a old game so it probably needs to be in direct input. You can test it on https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad to see if it is.

Man I was having a bunch of issues with PCSX2 and my controller yesterday, what worked for me was going into the PCSX2 settings, enabling Dinput and disabling everything else, making sure my pad was set to Dinput and there are also some games that don't work right when I hit the "mode" button which I still don't fully understand the purpose of because the xinput/dinput switch is on the back
Exiting steam might help too if you have it open. This is similar to what was happening to me.
