PVP is the main meat of this gacha because cygames is very very slow on releasing story scenarios aka PVE content. 99% of the game after the honeymoon period is just PVP and doing the long dailies to grind up your horse the next event and maybe a scenario in a blue moon. Once you exhaust your favorite horse girl story. There is quite literally nothing else to do besides mindlessly grind your 30+ minute races to get resources to make it easier the next time. It's going to be very interesting to see the giant global dropoff after the reality sets in. The /vg/ general was quite small because of this. The gacha is terrible if you can't tolerate this

For the shoes which you use to Level Up your Umas, I managed to get them from the roulette (click the top-right in the Home screen, it's the current event).
Also when you do Daily Races it can open Daily Sales in the Shop screen, it sells shoes almost every time there.

I kinda like that new characters get added to the larger pool permanently. Maybe it makes it hard for people who want a specific target but I don't have a favorite and any one of them spooking me would be welcomed. Glue factory, but no really it depends on whether they have good sparks or if they are just a good run in general for you. If they have a good stat spread and skills then you use them for your veterans team or to do your daily races and if they have good sparks you use them as parents for your next horse.
