This is Wuk's story because your WoL basically did everything thanks to Endwalker. There's nowhere to go up at the top, so it makes sense to have another storyline.

They don't even go into how any of these people view the Yok Huy who used to be their conquerors, it's like the Yok Huy exist on another planet now or something. Everyone just inexplicably gets along forever to the point they all wear the same uniform. There's a brief moment about how the Pelu Pelu generally support Zoraal Ja because they want to make money off of war efforts, but that gets dropped the instant after it's brought up. If Dawntrail were written like the rest of the game the Landsguard would have performed a coup on Gulool Ja Ja after Wuk won.

Your WoL is never really her mentor, though. As others have said, Wuk realizes she wants "peace and love" for her people all by herself, you simply take care of the big bad monsters no one else can beat. She is described being a curious princess, but she never really stepped outside the palace and doesn't know shit about her land (didn't she have any tutors? No history lessons at all?). Her brothers had the potential to become interesting characters, but Koana's story will be sidelined at the speed of light in 7.1 (you will see how), while Zoraal Ja never really has time to shine, and his motives feel ultimately shallow and nonsensical.

The Scions are a shadow of their former selves, and one of the main plot points that drew people to this expansion - the alleged rivalry between the WoL's team and your friends' - lasts 1 (one) dungeon. Tural also doesn't feel very realistic as a country: the Pelupelu and the giants are friends despite the latter being warmongering slavers in the past; they don't comment on their neighbours at all, and each zone feels quite disconnected from the rest. In the end, every little conflicts is fixed with no sacrifices, no hard lessons, no concessions - this is a land where peace is instantly achieved after one good meal eaten together. Even the tribal quests reflect this.

Finally, the localization was a mess. Wuk Lamat saying the giants live in Kozamauka, missing punctuation, untranslated dialogues left in Japanese, mistranslated relationships ("his son" instead of "of his nephew"). It was clear no one in that team talked with each other and everything was done in a hurry.

The only character/part of the story I liked was Bakool Ja Ja and you will see why. Everything else was a major disappointment after the highs of HW, ShB, and EW. Even the gathering quests (written by Ishikawa) are miles better than the MSQ. Hiroi can't write long plots and good characters for shit.
