Go look online. There are countless threads of people who tried to install Spore on their PC from the disc that they bought and couldn’t. You put the disc in the computer, but it stops you from playing the game. In order to play Spore entirely offline, you must first authenticate the game once by connecting to the EA server they set up specifically for that task. Once you authenticate the game you do not need to do that ever again. But if you cannot connect to the server in the first place you can’t play the game. They never should require you to connect to a server (which they shut off years later) for the privilege of playing the game you already spent your money on. it isn’t even a “live service” based argument. That’s the opposite of a service. They are purposefully making the usability of their product worse. And part of it is them limiting your ability to install it on multiple machines. It tracks how many machines you used the code on as well. You bought the game. If you replace your computer once or twice or you reinstall the system or get a new hard drive why should that mean you need to buy a second copy? and even if they let you install it on as many machines as you like, if the server goes down you can’t play it anyway. no one should have to download workarounds to use the product they bought. That’s just the company going out of its way to make things less user friendly.
