Literally all you have to do to fix it is to have a sparkling new database that is not connected to the game but to the shop, this way you dont have to change game itself. Then just use that database to store what items are purchased, and when player needs new glamout they can "purchase" the item into the game client.

Eh, it's less that the story is obnoxious, and more that the game has grown incredibly stale for those who consider themselves apart of the "old guard" so to speak. Don't get me wrong though, the MSQ is part of the problem as well, but people can forget and forgive a lackluster MSQ so long as the game is engaging. The reason the backlash has been so incredibly strong and has lasted so long against Dawntrail was because you had already demoralized players by the end of EW playing an even more demoralizing MSQ with DT that SEVERELY overstayed it's welcome and did literally nothing besides introduce a single new mcguffin by the end of it.

For those who are Shadow or Endwalkerbabs, they likely do not understand the vast majority of complaints levied against the game by more seasoned players as of late, and how could they? They have nothing to compare the recent spate of dogshit design to, that, and the game has yet to become stale to them.

XIVs gameplay issues are systemic, since Stormblood, I've repeatedly said that adding 2-3 jobs an expansion would be ruinous down the road, as there would be no more job identity. Besides the holy trinity, jobs are simply glorified glamour now, there are zero interesting interactions in the name of balance (and even then, job balance has been dogshit).

Other issues include:

>reward structure fucking sucks, especially anything related to Savage
>gearing fucking sucks
>loot lock-outs fucking suck
>plugin plague means that anybody you play with could simply be botting at this point

I enjoy Occluded Croissant. On launch, I was stuck there 3 days straight, got my relics, got a few of my Phantom Jobs up to max, got all of the rare drop Phantom Jobs, got some of the rewards from chests and vendor.

Forked Tower is hated by a lot of people (the method of entry, at least, but they're working on that), but I think the zone itself is pretty good.

Most new players joined during the "Anomaly" phase of the game where there was both a great MSQ and good side content to do not exclusive to raiders. The reason why EW retained a moderately high playerbase throughout despite having no side content of it's own is because there was both Bozja and Eureka(ShB buffed) to do for newer players even if it was older content by that point alongside all the other older expansion stuff.

Savage has been eternally been on a downward trend of player participation save for one specific point, the start of EW at 6.05, that's when tens of thousands, if not likely hundreds of thousands, of new players engaged with Savage for the first time and discovered that it's nothing like the rest of the game. The entire rest of the game is designed around doing it blind then the endgame is Lost Ark styled "Watch a guide three times over" shenanigans.

Savage content is so underplayed that it literally dies within the patch it's introduced. Chaotics are already joever, M1-4S are joever, hell you'd likely struggle to fill a fresh "new players welcome" learning for M5-8S at this point. The only time previous Savages are run is when you either no-synch destroy everything or memers trying to solo very old savages, largely the same problem for EXs hence why the Unreals exist in the first place.

It's almost entirely a raiders game with an MSQ attached to it and the few times it hasn't been were Adventure Forays designed for everyone. So making the new Foray into a raider's game means there's even less for everyone to do but more for raiders to do. Players have every right to be annoyed about it.

They need to evolve the raid systems somehow to gain new players or it will be right back to SB or lower population, even the latest population data shows this trend where they're losing all the gains from ShB and EW. It will sustain itself with it's low budget like it did before but it's probably not something SE wants to see happen.

I've finally come to the conclusion that all complaints about the class homogeny could be answered by making every class have to do its own silly minigame in terms of inputs, and any complaints about "balance" are ultimately moot because all of the sweaty WoWnigger parsefags have left a long time ago. Give DRK the ability to use its own HP for stronger and more frequent attacks, or even blood barriers it can apply instead of TBN. Give SCH the ability to weave every single fairy ability between every single non-fairy ability and make Aetherflow a long GCD that requires good timing to get back rather than just a shitty OGCD that gives you 3 pips with a tiny cooldown. Give SMN the ability to summon and actually have the summons remain persistent in the fight, being able to absorb blows or even help with things like towers or stack mechanics.

If every job is a whole mess and a half to play with, then every player's execution will be the balancing factor. Players who are godlike at their job can well-exceed the "expected" output that duties require for you to clear and get to blitz through content. Players who are middling at their job can still clear most content without serious adjustment. Players who are bad (like many, MANY players are now) can then be carried by those tryhard godmode poopsocks who want to excel as the #1 VPR or highest possible DPS output SAM when they need to genuinely work to get that far. If you have people who demand parses before they enter duties, just make it a reportable offense so the exclusionary parsefags get culled, and the highscore parsefags are allowed to still play as much as they want because all they want is to see their big number be bigger. Beyond that, no community is friendlier than the XIV community, so you'd easily be able to tell people to just be cool and not be faggots about it and they'd easily be able to accept it.

The problem with Final Fantasy XIV is that there are no RPG mechanics. It's not about mini-games or always be casting mentalities. This is about the fact it's impossible to: Give meaningful gameplay rewards. Make meaningful character growth. Create meaningful dynamic cooperative gameplay and more importantly create a compelling PVE experience in the MSQ.

You can't do these without RPG elements. It's impossible.

Stormblood didn't have that much more content than Dawntrail but it's important to understand that Jobs were different from each other. Gameplay variety = Content. And if your gameplay can change depending on your party members or player skill that's even better. Because it means there is more nuance to learn.

Instead of raping the game's RPG systems to cut costs, it would have been MUCH cheaper if Retardi Trashida focused on improving the RPG systems and very slowly expand them each expansion. So that more "gameplay content" existed and player retention was higher across the entire game.

Learning your rotation and executing dungeons and trials as well as you could used to be that mythical 'midcore' so many retards talk about. The difference between taking 18 minutes in a dungeon or 12.

Naoki Yoshida can't out-content a gameplay problem. They can't hope to compete against WoW on that department let alone FFXIV Mobile.

I'm iffy on how big of a barrier it'll actually be. ARR is rough for a lot of people, but it also lays a lot of ground work. I think going forward people will be able to skip through DT without much issue, especially since we have the encyclopedia thing to get people up to speed. It more matters how much of DT actually relates to stuff going forward, which will hopefully be very little.

It's blizzard's fault we need mods. I didn't need them in earlier expansions cause fights were simpler and spells/ attacks were more readable and telegraphed. In today's world of 1000+ spell effects, sound cues, and multiple shit onscreen, a mod is necessary to handle it all. All this is doing is allowing the jews at Blizzard to extend content by artificially increasing the raid difficulty by banning mods.

Btw, mods won't actually be stopped. People will still make a dbm that doesnt require the addon system like they do with FFxiv ACT.

I know some people didn't like ARR but I loved it, the systems the aesthetics and vibe of the zones plus those early cities are always the most populated because of their utility so it felt like the most like an MMO to me until I went through the entire story and hit the end game cities, those cities inbetween the starter cities and the end were almost empty and barren, it was a very lonely experience.
But ARR and those zones weren't like that, it always felt like something was happening, something interesting going on.

I feel asleep multiple times in Dawntrail, that was my shining memory of DT, that and Wuk. I hope they do implement a story skip from 6.1 to either 7.4 or 8.0 in the future.
