it is
the goal is basically making killswitches illegal
if you're selling a game, it's a product, and you can't just decide to shut it down like a service
if you sell a product/good, especially since it's not even physical, legislative principles dictate that it cannot be taken away
the funny thing is I'm basically against the EU, and I hope it dies, but those who try to kill this whole initiative can't even get arguments right
I'm not necessarily for it but at least I don't spend my time lying on the Internet

Capitalism is the belief that shareholders, who don't know anything about anything, and would kill you if it was legal and made them $1 richer, should run society and make the decisions for humanity.

Literally every problem you can think of is caused by or exacerbated by capitalism.

Why can't, for example, the company release the code so a community of users can host a server? Or I can host my own server? Or make some bootleg solution so the phone talks to the door peer-to-peer?
Why is the DOOR, something traditionally sold as a product and not a service, and that the layman consumer can't be expected to treat as a service when buying, something that can get cancelled like this?

Yeah and it's not targeted towards "games as service" slop where the selling-point lies from it having continuous service so it is perfectly realistic.
It's only targeted towards lazy shit where it doesn't sell itself as a service, but has a forced connection to a server so they can bar people from having access to the game for the sake of having control over customers.
If you don't want to do a bare-minimum to let people host the server, make it offline, if you want to have control over the game, sell the game as a service not a product, it's simple as that.

Unironically yes.
If you live there for long enough, and are willing to keep it maintained, there's no reason it shouldn't be yours.
The real estate market needs to crash hard; there are already plenty of homes(at least in the US), but so many of them are bought up and rented out by others in a sort of neo-feudalism. This leads to a lot of ecological destruction in creating new pop-up neighborhoods to meet demand of those who profit from real estate.

I really don't understand people who are against this. For as long as I've been aware of online video games, I had a thought of how sad it would be to not be able to play anymore when the servers are inevitably shut down. But this is beyond emotion, since if the servers are shut down, you lose use of something you paid money for. The game's company can just take it away from you, and I don't like that.

>Humans pay fees for the privilege of occupying land temporarily until the government requires that land. See Waco siege and Bundy Ranch.
But at least in america, I can kill a few government agents that first try to take it.

>devs should have the right to remove your access to a 80$ game anytime they want
>you should be forbidden to play a game if the dev decide it compete with their new product
I do hope you are a desperate bot-farm workers needing the money to feed a family.

Technically, what you describe is plutocracy.
Capitalism only defends that accumulating capital is the ultimate goal, linking it with private ownership and working against state-enforced redistribution.
Not saying it's a good thing or it doesn't lead to the former.

keeping ancap out of this because anarchy isn't a real polity, it's just brainwashed idiots paving the ground for top-down system where the lower castes are divided to never disobey the upper caste.

Its not just some autist though. TLOU Remastered multiplayer has at least hundreds of people on it at any given time and MGO2 online through emulation can have a few hundred at certain times. These companies should still support these games people play

I can still boot up BF1942 or BF2 and join a server maintained by the community, can you say the same about your modern titles?

>Seller built a new house
>Seller now want for you to buy the new house so he lock your door, cut electricity & water.
>Demand the government force the seller to respect your ownership of the product he sold you
Why are sane people like this?

>Whats going to stop companies from just doing shit like this?
They'll be forced to make it clear to their clients they intend to do that.
Hypothetically,
And I know that's a hard to believe premise.
Hypothetically, the customers make an informed choice and decide by himself whether the "service" offered is worth the developer being able to do this at any time, taking into account the trustworthiness of the companies.
