Margin of error percentages apply to the entire sample, not a specific subset of data under the whole. You're equating a 1% margin of error of the global population (71,250,000) and applying it only to the population of Finland (6,500,000). According to that trash logic, any country with equal to or less than 1% of the global population could replace Finland and "have a 50/50 chance of not actually existing".
Also note the difference between the 1% global margin count (71 million) and the reported population count of Finland (6.5 million), roughly 64 million. The actual population count is just shy of 10% of the global 1% margin. This makes the 50/50 chance claim even more fucking retarded because statistically, Finland has a much more likely chance of having a population that is double, triple, or an even larger multiple of 6.5 million rather than not existing, since that "plus or minus 1%" will stop at -0.1% when it reaches 0.
The 1% margin of error, when used correctly in regards to Finland, will be based on the 6.5 million figure, not the global 7.125 billion. Thus would equate to 1% of the .0912%, that Finland makes up of the global population: .000912% or 65,000. And when those numbers are added together with the 1% margin of error of all other countries, you would reach the global 1% margin of error of 71,250,000 people.
