If you can try to get Moxie (Front Runner recovery skill), you get it later automatically, but it makes it easier having shit stamina. In fact you can get another recovery skill. And remember that lane/position specific skills give more score points than universal skills. Don't pick debuff or green skills unless they're too beneficial for you (something like Front or Pace runner debuffs)

Is it sprint/mile or longer races? If the first two, ignore STR, get all speed and at worst grab some skills to break out of boxing. If longer, probably lack of stamina/stamina refresh skills, but it's hard to evaluate what are the problems. If you have skills to fight out of getting boxed you can get away with a lot less STR requirements.

Imagine for a moment what an Uma could do if they truly turned to a life of crime. Killing people with a single strike, outrunning police cars?

So I got fine motion and super creek using only 2 of the free 10 rolls and the random SSR support card draw.
So why isn't pulling horses important? Do you just get so many and the game is so Career focused that why bother over specific horses when you can't go through a Career with it again? Or is the game more PvP focused with the Veteran horses?
